HAHAHAHAHA! I think this is only the second time I've ever gotten a perfect ranking at the very bottom of a rankdown! Sweeet!

Today will be a 45-36 reveal since I skipped last night. Posts will be somewhat sporadic instead of coming all at once though. Here's #45 to start things off. Average: 37.2 Median: 37 St. dev.: 7.44 (lowest) The st. dev. speaks to the (non-)impression this song predictably left on everyone. In fact I am not sure what is more surprising: that this didn't finish last, that it managed to pull itself out of the bottom 5 at the last minute, or that I am somehow not the highest rank for it. This was the one 'random' song I threw in for fun because I was a dorky Immature fan growing up. For some reason I didn't feel like using the more recognizable Feel the Funk or We Got It, but tbh there is a reason those songs at least got into the top 15 on r&b/hip-hop while Lover's Groove only peaked at #43 and missed the Hot 100 entirely. They probably would have fared better if I'd fully committed to the randomness of their inclusion and picked an album track instead of a flop single. Ah, well.

Oh not “Dial My Heart” not in the bottom 10!
I keep forgetting Immature released material before “Never Lie”.

Seven of the ten lowest standard deviations have been revealed before we even exit the bottom 10...but the other three of those ten won't be seen until the top 15.

I was honestly shocked to see Just Got Paid so low. Standard deviation is kind of high, but no top 10 ranks. Despite being an inarguable NJS classic, it's clearly no one's absolute fave.
Fun fact: this was originally meant to make Keith Sweat's Make It Last Forever album. Keith called in Kemp to help him write a song, but later decided it didn't fit him (and I agree, I am having the hardest time imagining Keith's voice on JGP). Kemp kept the song for himself and released it as a single just a few months after Keith dropped Make It Last Forever.

JGP is easily one of the most successful and famous songs from that era and the genre.

Ouch, I always lose one I ranked highly near the bottom of the chart. This time it was "I'm Dreamin'." I remember that song from New Jack City.

It will be someone else's turn to lose a top 10 rank in a minute. The last three submissions put in the work for him to keep this song out of the bottom 10, but just barely.

Our first female act will be revealed next. This song was never in danger of being in the bottom 10, but also never had a chance of breaking out of the 30s range. It floated up to #27 once before immediately falling back into the 30s and eventually settling in its #39 spot.
We'll see another person lose his first top 10 and I already know he is not gonna be chill about about it lol. But he won't see his next top 10 loss for a while after that, so he can sit down and relax.

I am still not sure if Groove Me's early exit is a surprise or not. I wasn't expecting it to go out this early, but I also didn't think it would be a huge favorite. I guess I expected it to land closer to the middle.
For Teddy Riley to be credited with birthing NJS, his own group was the definition of 'local hits.' Oddly enough their only top 40 on the Hot 100 was their 1999 single Dancin', and I don't even remember that song. OMG I am lying I just looked it up and I totally remember this song/video now lol. I don't think I ever heard it on radio, though. Next leftover sad to say; that awkward moment when the trendsetter becomes the chaser. I am assuming the release of a physical single (right at the time labels were starting to phase out physical singles and songs were allowed to chart solely on airplay) is what helped them out there.
