Well... I actually want Post Malone to be #1...
But once BTS fans hear this, they're going to stream the album on mass.

I want BTS to pull this off. Same. A #1 debut from a K-Pop album "could" help push diversity to the charts.

Shocked James Bay isn't debuting in the top 20. He has decent streaming numbers.

The fact that this is even a possibility is hilarious imo. I can't wait for the meltdown if it doesn't get #1, neither can I wait for the meltdown if it hits #1! Win win.

This time last year, I'd never have forseen Post's second album doing over 100k SPS in its fourth week. I'm curious to see how many weeks Drake can get over 200k.

Also yeah it's kind of insane how well Post his doing. Half of his album's songs haven't even left the Hot 100 yet and I doubt all of them are getting regular radio play.

To be fair it's a tragedy Gangnam Style never hit number 1 because of One More Night of all songs

To be fair it's a tragedy Gangnam Style never hit number 1 because of One More Night of all songs Gangnam Style was trash, but that's neither here nor there. What the point is, is that they did this every day for like 4 weeks, and even then there might have been days where they had two updates.

What the point is, is that they did this every day for like 4 weeks, and even then there might have been days where they had two updates. The song isn't/wasn't my cup of tea either but there's no doubt it was the most popular song in the country for a month or so but I believe streams weren't counted correctly? Anyway I agree with the original point made, the Billboard coverage on BTS is overdone.

Yeah streams were added the following year. Taylor Swift lost out on a #1 due to the same thing at the start of 2013, and lost out the top 10 slot that Roar snuck into because it was released after they started using streams.

^Interestingly, BTS' is predicted to have about as many equivalent albums from digital song sales and streaming as The Greatest Showman OST. Which probably means, regardless of what the final position of the former for this week, it won't last that long in the top 10 once the debut week hype has died down.

It seems that HDD did a glaring omission and thus edited the midweek prediction: 8. *NAV (XO/Republic) 33-37k, 4-5k All other albums below that position get bumped one spot down.

LOL at with all this hype/hysteria BTS might not even pass Post in his 4th week. Their last album sold only 31k in its first four days so I think it still would be a huge achievement for them if they could crack 100k this time in this sales climate - especially for a Korean album. Psy couldn't even release an album after scoring one of the biggest hits of that year.

I applaud any non-Anglo foreign act that can somewhat meaningfully breakthrough. In particular, I applaud BTS. East Asians (and East Asian Americans) have had a very rough go at getting support within the music industry. So many Kpop idols are Asian Americans who only went to Korea to pursue a music career that they knew would not even be a possibility in the States. That fact alone should shine a light on why BTS being able to crack 100k (especially in this sales climate) is remarkable.

BTS has inched ahead of Post Malone, but it remains a tight race for #1. Both the sales-driven K-Pop band and the stream-powered rapper have ticked up since our prior read.
*BTS (Bighit) 123-128k, 95-100k Post Malone (Republic) 121-126k Total, 11-14k Albums *Lil Baby (QC/Motown/Capitol) 69-74k, 5-6k *Five Finger Death Punch (Prospect Park) 63-68k, 56-61k The Greatest Showman (Atlantic) 47-52k, 30-33k Cardi B (Atlantic) 44-48k, 3-4k J. Cole (Dreamville/Roc Nation/Interscope) 43-47k, 7-8k *NAV (XO/Republic) 33-37k, 4-5k Black Panther (TDE/Aftermath/Interscope) 29-32k, 7-8k Playboi Carti (AWGE/Interscope) 27-30k, <1k Migos (QC/Motown/Capitol) 23-26k, 1-2k Post Malone (Republic) 23-26k, 1-2k Rae Sremmurd (Eardruma/Interscope) 22-25k, <1k XXXtentacion (Bad Vibes Forever) 22-25k, <1k Ed Sheeran (Atlantic) 21-24k, 6-7k Charlie Puth (Artist Partner/Atlantic) 20-23k, 7-8k Imagine Dragons (Kidinakorner/Interscope) 19-22k, 5-6k Youngboy Never Broke Again (Atlantic) 19-22k, <1k Taylor Swift (Big Machine/BMLG) 19-22k, 11-13k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow/BMG) 18-20k, 10-12k

Oh god if BTS actually get it twitter will be unusable for the next few days...
But if they don’t it’ll be unuseable forever. BTS stans will never live it down.
