I got no problem with Weezer. This is passable. "Happy Hour" was great, but I will say that AJR song with Rivers is garbage. Come to think of it, so is AJR.

As predicted less than a few weeks ago, #2 greatest gainer with The 1975 at #1, both 400+; These two songs will be battling for songs of the summer on Alternative and fully expect both to crossover to CHR and Hot AC. I’m okay with that...

I am the only person that still would include Weezer in their Top 20 of all-time favorite bands? I mean sure their quality has declined over the years, but I still love them overall being of the first bands I've ever gotten into in the mid-90's.

Defending Weezer is one thing, cause I can understand the feeling of nostalgia and longing for the days when their music wasn't atrocious but defending this meme cover? This is the kind of crap that got Cash Me Ousside girl famous. Also yes, Phantogram and Lorde are much more horrible than anything Weezer has released in the past two decades. I'm not defending the cover (although it's a fine cover), I'm mentioning you constantly filling Weezer threads with negativity. It's beginning to sound like the members personally offended you or something (which definitely did not happen). Also fixed. I don't disagree with you about the Weezer "saltiness" (and to compare this to "cash me outside" seems extreme), but the cheap shots at Lorde and Phantogram weren't any better or more necessary. I mean, we're all vocal about our likes and dislikes, but no need for any of us to act like our tastes are objectively better than others'.

Comeback with a cover song isn't the biggest conquest. Charting a song in The Hot !00 has lost all prestige with me, but they already made their strong comeback with that Summer song anyway.

I kinda disagree when it comes to artists like Weezer who struggle in the current singles climate. I mean, I don't really like Weezer, but if I had an act I like who needed a cover to chart (which someone like Pentatonix does), then I don't mind it at all.

It's commendable for any rock band to chart on the Hot 100 in this day and age, cover or not. I doubt we were throwing shade at covers when Disturbed did it.
I roll my eyes at just about every Weezer thread because they're usually subjected to the same old narrative of "[Insert band] isn't as good as their early stuff." When you're an adult, music doesn't move you like it did when you were a teenager. There are plenty of bands that put out respectable work late in their careers. Sure, Weezer's had their share of hits and misses, but they've put out some quality tracks in the last five years. They're victims of their own longevity more than anything, just like U2. They could rewrite "Buddy Holly" and it wouldn't be the same. I, for one, am happy they continued making music when the Internet told them they should stop.

THE FACTS -At #24, #1 biggest mover by 100 spins at 450, likely Top 20 by Sunday Update.
- 7 adds on Hot AC past week,
- Top 5 Biggest Movers on AAA
This is going to be huge. Seriously can see this making a run on CHR.
Any other predictions?

Sure, but can they enter the Hot 100 with an original song? I'll wait for Disturbed and Bad Wolves to do the same as well.

What does it matter or have anything to do with this?
Weezer is and always been a true Modern Rock band, they can give two $hits about being on the Hot 100 like the majority of any rock bands that have ended up or will end up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame besides maybe Green Day. U2 probably hasn’t hit the Hot 100 since 2000 with Beautiful Day yet have sold a ton of albums and continues to have one of the highest tour money makers in the world.
You think The Strokes, White Stripes/Jack White, Beck, Death Cab, Foo Fighters are even considering how their songs will perform on the Teenager Hot 100? No man. It’s not 1955, the Hot 100 is worthless.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the original,"Africa" by Toto re enters the "worthless" Hot 100.

What I am saying is that charting a rock song on the Hot 100 is an accomplishment because rock songs don't generally do that anymore. Rock doesn't have the footprint it once had. Festivals lineups are already phasing out rock, like they already did punk and metal. There isn't crossover appeal anymore. Bands flip over to CHR and get crushed. Venues that used to have live music get cover bands or DJ's to spin EDM Remix #3,000. This concerns me because I want there to continue to be rock music. I want labels to keep producing it. I don't want to see rock relegated to the margins like jazz. Mostly, I'm afraid of getting old.

If one teenage girl can convince them to cover Africa, do you think I could convince them to stop making music forever? I had to come here just to mention this to ya. Spotify keeps playing this commercial about Weezer going on tour or playing some local show here. I dunno what for as I haven't been listening much, but the volume is so freaking loud on it. Like twice as high as my music volume. I thought to myself that maybe they're playing this at an obnoxious full blast since you're always talking shit about Weezer. I just thought it was funny

I saw them a couple of years ago with Panic! At The Disco down at Bayfront Park. As much as I'm a fan of Weezer, they were kind of disappointing. I mean Rivers isn't the most energetic guy as a person, but he barely spoke to the crowd and the songs didn't sound very different than on the studio albums. There was no urgency to get the crowd into it at all. Panic! stole the show IMO. With that being said, I'm ok with not seeing them again.

In just 8 weeks, this cover song, is up to #8 on Billboard Alternative. The question is? Who did Rivers Cuomo blow, to get this song, this high, in such a short time?
