Do we have confirmation for that? "Since blasting off the launchpad early Friday morning, Drake’s Scorpion is rocketing into the stratosphere like nothing before it in the streaming era, as the 25-track album sets new records by the hour. Will it be the first album ever to blaze past 1 billion streams U.S. in its first week? And if he can do that here, what's possible worldwide?" hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=312433

Drake now boasts more RIAA certifications than Rihanna — and all other artists.
by Brian Cantor
In conjunction with the release of his new album “Scorpion,” Drake received a myriad of new RIAA certifications for a number of his past releases.
Those new awards establish Drake as America’s #1 digital singles artist.
According to the RIAA, Drake is now credited with 148 million in certified US digital single units (as a lead artist). The impressive number represents a new record.
Rihanna, who previously held the distinction, boasts 124 million in certified units.
Taylor Swift (108.5 million), Eminem (107.5 million), and Katy Perry (98 million) complete the Top 5.
As of early 2016, a digital single unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

drake only sold 30k on itunes last night so he might not hit 1m sps. Define “last night” - how many hours are we talking about? Not sure. just saw that on chart data

You c*nts realize that this chart is a week away, right? Beats the alternative; Sad doesnt deserve another week at #1, stop mourning X, beyonce is overrated(she is a tad bit) Besides, the tracking week for this chart started today. Anyway, do you guys think Scorpion can catch up with bearbongs & bentleys to finish at the top of the year end top 200 album chart?

10 million streams per hour on just Spotify is absolutely bonkers... I assume that's worldwide at least? That's equivalent to 1.7 billion per week FYI. I'm sure it'll slow down throughout the week but still... And Apple Music will probably have similar numbers too. Based off how his recent hits have done, maybe 40% of his streams are US. 1 billion streams WW would be 400m US and count for 267,000 units on the BB200. But with these kinds of numbers it looks like the one billion "projection" might have been US only so maybe as much as 650,000 SEA plus whatever he's getting in TEA and pure sales?
If he can hold around 5 million daily WW Spotify streams per track then I can see him getting 1 billion US streams (650k SEA).

At this point isn't he pretty much a lock for top Billboard artist of the decade? Unless Adele pulls 25 numbers again during the last month of the decade, I don't see anyone else catching up to him.

Depends how things are weighted. I actually think Taylor and Rihanna have a better shot than Adele because Adele has albums but her touring, Hot 100, streaming and social media stats hold her back. I also doubt she'll pull 25 numbers again. Drake definitely looks like the favourite though, I'd say about 75% odds on him, 10% on each Taylor and Rihanna and 5% on Adele. I wasn't sure if he would do so well after I'm Upset and the Pusha diss - like he'd still do well ofc but maybe not that much better than Views/More Life. So far though looks like he's going to significantly outstream both.

I'm going to go ahead and predict 725,000 SPS (450,000 pure sales). The streaming rule changes will hurt a bit. Edit: since streaming rule change doesn't look like it'll hurt much I'm upping my SPS prediction to 800,000. <iframe width="31.819999999999936" height="3.519999999999996" style="position: absolute; width: 31.819999999999936px; height: 3.519999999999996px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_36580532" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="31.819999999999936" height="3.519999999999996" style="position: absolute; width: 31.82px; height: 3.52px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1523px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_8277092" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="31.819999999999936" height="3.519999999999996" style="position: absolute; width: 31.82px; height: 3.52px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 116px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_62670760" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="31.819999999999936" height="3.519999999999996" style="position: absolute; width: 31.82px; height: 3.52px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1523px; top: 116px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_60581722" scrolling="no"></iframe> Sales don't seem that strong, he only has about 7 tracks in the top 20 on iTunes and I'm assuming that'll be reflected in album sales too. However, there seems to be a lot more excitement over Scorpion than More Life and Views so I'm upping my prediction for SEA (although reviews are mixed?). 1,050,000 SPS and 350,000 pure sales. His takeover of last.fm's charts is not quite complete so it seems he's not that big in that crowd which I suspect is older and more into indie/alternative music and more likely to buy albums.

On another album besides Scorpion, I just finishing listening to the 51 song Appetite for Destruction Super Deluxe Edition. I recommend it to whoever enjoys that type of music.

HDD update: "Scorpion is averaging 10m streams per hour at Spotify, and its tracks occupy the Top 25 slots at Apple Music. It's already flown past the 100m streams mark."

Wow, and thats not even a full day.
Are streaming numbers higher in the weekdays than during the weekend? It'd be insane if it could average 100m for the next 6 days

f**k! Drake just broke his own record with 5.7 million US streams on Spotify for nonstop. Plus another 5 million streamed song right after that called ‘survival’ by him... nonstop might be number 1 or number 2 (because of nice for what’s radio)... this man is a monster

Through half the album so far, gotta say, it's all very similar sounding. Hasn't been a standalone track yet, hoping to like at least one of them, otherwise this is pretty disappointing.

Based on early reads, Scorpion by YMCMB/Republic's Drake is on track for a record-breaking first week.
Drake (YMCMB/Republic) 870-920k total activity, 275-300k album.
The set, which surpassed 300m worldwide streams within its first 24 hours, has dominated the Spotify (#1-23 of the Top 25 U.S., 18 of the Top 25 Global), Apple Music (all of the Top 25) and iTunes (#1 album and three tracks in the Top 10) charts since its arrival. Spotify and Apple have both given Scorpion primo real estate, with The Spot according it the streamery's first-ever site takeover.

This isnt KTT or ATRL so I'd like to assume that there wont be anyone clueless enough on here to be overly disappointed with these numbers

According to those early numbers, Scorpions' songs would just fall short of 1 billion U.S. streams for the week.

Call me insane but I’m actually let down by his pure sales. I expected a drop from views but this is much bigger than I anticipated. I know sales are awful right now, but I still had more hope for this.
I thought this album was all but guaranteed to hit 1 million in pure sales eventually but now it looks like its really going to have to work to get there and have some great legs.
I know Drake isn’t Taylor level of sales but she opened with 1.2 million in November. I’m kinda shocked Drake is struggling to open with a fourth of that with gods plan which is up there to be the biggest hit of the year & nice for what, another big number 1 song .
I’m not a hater for him and his streams are clearly legendary, I just thought his sales had more potential

^No. I'm also interested, as well as those for Gorrillaz's and Guns 'n Roses' albums. I'm aware that Scorpion will overshadow all other new releases, but that doesn't mean they're irrelevant. Just not as hyped up.

His sales are fine but I expected SPS to be well over 1m since he's bigger than ever and streaming only got bigger since Views.
