Around 5:30 pm everyday and 8:30am every morning I hear either BHC or Blown Away on my commute to work. These songs are being played instead of Cry Pretty or Love Wins. When I hear BHC and Blown Away I'm reminded of how much better those two songs are compared to anything on her current Album. Her new Album has ok songs but nothing that stands out to me. You need to clean out your ears. "Low", "Drinking Alone" and "Spinning Bottles" say hello.

One of the more questionable lyrics to me (that may contribute to how some feel this song is "preachy") is the "politics and prejudice, how the hell'd it ever come to this?" line.
Yeah, things could be better. But "how'd it come to this" implies that at some point it was better. Politics have been terrible since the beginning of our nation...some really bitter nasty election cycles. Prejudice...there have been such dark times in our world's history...we've come a long way. Still tons of work to do for sure, but to ask "how'd it come to this?" seems a little forced.

This isn't working. When will UMG just move on from it? I'd hate that this amazing album's momentum get killed off just because they are trying to wait and push this to a slightly higher (but pointless) peak on country radio.

Like clockwork? Sounds like a corporate playlist lol. I agree those songs are superior to her latest album. We still spin "Blown Away" at least once a day. "Cry Pretty" is gone from rotation. I think "Love Wins" was a clear mistake for the second single, as was "Cry Pretty" as the lead, but it's much easier to go out on that limb now.

You give Carrie fans an AWFUL name.

Or, she could perform something new and just not even worry about it being a single or not. See: “Spinning Bottles” at the AMAs, “Ghosts on the Stereo” on Kimmel, Kacey Musgraves literally performing almost the entire GH record on various TV appearances, etc. Wishful thinking, aware it won’t happen, etc. See, normally I'd agree with you and am all for performing various songs on different platforms. But in this case, LW needs all the help it can get.

^Fair enough. I guess I'd just hate for it to peak below top 10 and break her streak without at least making every effort to push it further.

Just don't see a point in trying to make fetch happen lol...

Aside from "Ghosts On The Stereo" which I can't even make it through the two singles are the two worst songs on the entire album. The album (for me, as a non-Carrie stan) is surprisingly strong and I am revisiting several songs on it way more than anything from her last effort other than "Dirty Laundry." They messed up with the lead, but it was releasing this truly terrible song second that killed the momentum for her (along with the weird lack of promo the months leading up to the project). Carrie probably fought for "Cry Pretty" as the lead single, but you have to think the entire label was all-in on the decision for this one second, when "Drinking Alone", "Southbound" and "Backsliding" were sitting there ready to be smashes at radio.

A stand out radio single...I could agree with you there. The songs are deeper, slower overall, but you said a stand out song. And there are definitely stand outs on this album. P.S. I'm sure your ears are fine, it's an expression that I'm surprised more don't seem too familiar with.

People are allowed to not love every single Carrie song. And guess what? Sit down for this. There are tons of people who don't enjoy Carrie's music. You can't just make a comment that is not a joke at all and then just say, "awwww you guys have no sense of humor - that was a joke." That would be like me saying you sound like a person who has no life beyond Carrie Underwood and if she were to actually meet you in person would probably be scared of you. And if you get mad I would say, "awwwww you have no sense of humor - it's just a joke." But I would never say that.

I felt the same way about the album (which I love). There's not a single on this album that's quite on the level of her legendary singles I think for the general country audience. Perhaps Ghosts on the Stereo, or even the Bullet (which is kind of dated but classic Carrie). I loved, and still love, Cry Pretty and Love Wins though.

Seriously, this place let's some crazy stuff go sometimes, and jumps on really harmless and inoffensive stuff other times. Good Lord!

Carrie Underwood. Queen of Nashville. Queen of Country Music. Queen of having her single threads derailed multiple times no matter the song.
We all just need to remember... that love wins.

I honestly do not understand the thinking of releasing 'Love Wins' as the second single. Overall, it's an 'okay' song that is a good filler on the album and serves its purpose for the theme. However, you're absolutely right that there were much stronger single choices.
At this rate, I will consider anything within the top twenty a success for 'Love Wins' given it's slow crawl up the charts compared to all her other efforts.

Never been a fan of this as a single but it's clear it was the plan from the beginning.
Hopefully it doesn't do too much damage to the era and they can push out Drinking Alone after the holidays.

Happy to see this become the Top 30 hit it was destined to be. Now drop it for "Drinking Alone,' starting with a performance tonight at the CMAs. Thanks!

I have a fear that they'll push this to an artificial peak (top 10 or top 15) that will take forever, and drain all interest out of the album. I hope that I'm wrong, and that they'll send something else out at the beginning of January, after the holiday slowdown.

I think Carrie Underwood can reach the Top 20 with this song. But I don't expect much more. It's taken this song 9 weeks to amass just over 6 million in audience on Billboard. So approximately 18 weeks we would see 12 million give or take and that'll probably be enough to get the Top 20, but by 18 weeks this song would really be pushing it.

"Love Wins" moves up a couple spots to #25 as Carrie Underwood gains 266 spins and 609k in audience.
If this song can keep up like this I think "Love Wins" can at least have a Top 20 finish. With "Rich" in freefall look for radio to give Carrie Underwood the token female slot and hopefully some life is brought into this song.
