Well, we all know there are a lot of artists and bands that really care about your songs being a huge success or hitting the #1 position, or even big crossovers speaking of some Latin, Alternative or Hip-hop hits.
But the opposite exists too. Some singers or bands don't care about charting well, sometimes because they've already marked their name in industry of music or Just don't have it as priority. Do you know any singers or bands who enter in this type of thing?

I know Frank Ocean decided to sit out the grammys with''Blonde'', because he felt like the ''infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated'' and the grammys being too mainstream. I could imagine he feels the same way about the charts.

Kanye at this point. All Mine has like 120 million plays on Spotify and he hasn't bothered promoting it at all.

They care about awards though. Bey wants an Oscar real bad and an Album of the Year Grammy.

Mariah Carey even ten years ago when she had her last #1 has nothing on any of the wacky bullshit Nicki Minaj has been on lately.

Drake. Just when he was close to break the record of most weeks at the top of the Hot 100, releases another single and surpasses himself. You know the rest of the story.

I think all artists care to some extent. Nobody is spending months to years crafting an album just so nobody can hear it when it comes out.

It wasn't that close - 6 weeks, and without Nice For What he would've 14/15 weeks at #1. Justin Bieber's choice was more impressive, he released "Friends" when he was #1 with Despacito (16th week).

Mariah Carey even ten years ago when she had her last #1 has nothing on any of the wacky bulls**t Nicki Minaj has been on lately. Are you sure about that? Mariah used to have PARTIES with cakes in the shape of the number that her most recent number one was(in other words, her last number one was her 18th; she had a cake in the shape of "18"). That seems a bit excessive to me, but YMMV.

Are you sure about that?Β Mariah used to have PARTIES with cakes in the shape of the number that her most recent number one was(in other words, her last number one was her 18th; she had a cake in the shape of "18"). That seems a bit excessive to me, but YMMV. At least she was celebrating an actual number 1 instead of losing her shit bc she wasn't. (A more analogous comparison would have been Mariah at her actual worst - Loverboy and her eventual breakdown in 2001 - but even then she didn't go so far as to openly try to blame everything on sabotage or claim that she talked to Destiny's Child and that they knew Bootylicious wasn't really #1 that week.) The 16-18 stretch of celebrations were a bit extra, but it was part of the comeback/icon rebrand that she was building at the time so I don't think it was too much. Just a friendly reminder that she was still that bitch.

Pretty much any legacy act stops caring about charts in the present tense. They don't really have a choice, their peak charting days are long behind them. Even Mariah at this point has let go of that feeling, I'm sure.
I would guess most rock acts don't care. Focusing on that kind of thing would probably lose them some cool points, and barring the periodic alt crossover the genre as a whole doesn't chart that well these days anyway. Touring and festival spots are more important to them.
Funnily enough, Adele probably couldn't care less.
Jay and Bey don't care about singles charts anymore but I am sure they care about the albums chart.

They care about awards though. Bey wants an Oscar real bad and an Album of the Year Grammy. Beyonce is not even doing movies anymore. lol and If she wanted AOTY that bad, she would do grammy museum specials, big promotions for singles, attend all the big industry party/guild award to budddy buddy with industry people.

Janet charts w/o trying. She hasn't seemed to care in 20 years.
