Old Town Road expected to skyrocket to #1. Bad Guy should dip a little. 7 Rings drops in radio, so expect that to fall off the top spot, if it doesn't this week. Exciting week ahead!!

I started out disliking Old Town Road and then quickly changed my mind on it lol. Itβs a style combination thatβs not common so now Iβm sooo rooting for it to hit the top. Also, it would be crazy if the Billy Ray Cyrus remix somehow ends up getting credited (too early to tell but would be interesting). This is the kind of fast-rising breakout song from a new artist that Iβve been wanting to see (Sweet But Psycho doesnβt count because itβs going up really slowly) so its pretty exciting to me.

Two new songs to look out for during the week are Cool and Kill This Love. I suspect the latter will be frontloaded similar to the BTS songs that have charted in the Hot 100.

Love that after the few years of rap dominance, a rap song in fact needs a country singer to reach number one.

With how steady and strong OTR's sales and streams are and how quickly it's gaining on airplay, it was definitely heading for #1 this week anyway since all of its competition is falling. The remix is just giving it even more padding.

Girls Like You needed two videos to beat ZEZE and SICKO MODE, Halsey needed a Juice WRLD remix to return to #1, Ariana always releases multiple audio/video versions on YouTube and Shallow needed a TV performance. Well, in recent years even huge artist like Ed and Taylor used a remix to go #1. For rap songs: last year, Psycho and I Like It were #1 using the discount strategy. Remember, there is only 2-3 artists that never needed remixes to reach the top.

True^ an example on the top of my head that never needed a remix or a discount to reach number one is drake (Iβm sure he did some stuff to STAY at number 1 tho). There are more but nowadays artists use different tactics to reach the summit

I find it amusing that a tv performance is lumped in with multiple music videos and remixes for number one. Traditionally, a tv spot would be the norm, along with a single music video, etc, and a remix or second music video would be the βextraβ.

Back in the day, people would see the performance on American Idol and make the one-time purchase of downloading the song for $.99. Now they'll click on every version, giving it more and more streams over time. Welcome to 2019

If Old Town Road reaches #1 and if Billy ray is credited on the track, he and Miley will be the third father/daughter combo to both reach #1 on the Hot 100, following Frank Sinatra (Strangers in the Night) & Nancy Sinatra (These Boots are Made For Walking) and Pat Boone (April Love) & Debby Boone (You Light Up My Life).

Would they be the first where the father reaches #1 after the child?

Technically, no. Frank's "Strangers in the Night" hit #1 a few months after "Boots", but Frank had several pre-Hot 100 #1 songs, the previous being "Learnin' the Blues" in 1955.
Frank & Nancy are the only father/daughter duet at #1 (Somethin' Stupid).

The Old Town Road remix is already ahead of the original on iTunes by double the amount (and likely to grow), so depending on the streaming numbers Billy Ray could be credited for the #1 (Iβd say itβs locked to be #1).

Damn, wish Gaga had released a solo version of Shallow while it was #1.

It would also be pretty incredible if Billy gets #1 next week because he would obtain his first #1 hit in the same decade as Miley

there's no doubt in my mind that "old town road" will go #1, but i wonder how long it'll be up there. billy ray cyrus getting a #1 hit in 2019 is definitely odd lol, but this year has been full of many surprises.

Drake x Future, #1 summer song, I'm calling it now, but this can definitely challenge it early on, as Psycho did Nice For What.

Hopefully this new Khalid album can push Better closer to the top 10 as well. It would be nice to see him hit the top 10 without help from a feature.

Since the track is very clearly not meant to be taken seriously and even the artist is baffled it's becoming so big and the BRC remix is obviously more "in on the joke" meta stuff, I would honestly say "On the Road" is a comedy song. And it's heading straight for number one.
Has a comedy song ever went #1 before? Do The Singing Nun and "Disco Duck" qualify?
