I’m not going to have a chance to post any top 10 predictions (going to see The Head and the Heart tonight!), but I’ll just say I’m shocked that Sunny is out...I actually thought she was going to win the whole thing!

I think Sunny could have won the whole thing...if she had had a better song in the rankdown.

I think Sunny could have won the whole thing...if she had had a better song in the rankdown. Maybe, maybe not. I think it would be a good idea to have more rankdowns incorporating songs such as this one to find out

Both “Pitch and Honey” and “Mama I Tried” were two of my favorite discoveries from the rankdown...I really enjoyed the change in tempo on “Pitch and Honey” which isn’t something we’re used to hearing. All in all that song performed better than I thought it might. I was only familiar with Angaleena Presley as a member of the Pistol Annies and had never listened to her solo work. I loved “Mama I Tried” so much that it ended up in my top 10 and I was surprised to see it leave before then as well as some of the lower rankings including a #34 from bboat11 ! I’ve only recently gotten into Ruston Kelly’s music and had some songs from his latest album Dying Star on repeat such as “Mockingbird” and “Jericho”. His style is a little dark for some though and I can understand why not everyone likes his music. He’s another artist whose lyrics I find that I’m able to connect with and relate to. I thought “Better Bad Idea” was a solid choice from Sunny Sweeney considering it’s from her most recent album and I thought it was not only a lock for the top 10 but for the win as well. I’m not sure what other song might’ve worked here other than picking something from one of her older albums such as “From a Table Away” or “Staying’s Worse Than Leaving”. I saw her live for the first time last summer and unfortunately left very underwhelmed. To be fair the audience was a bit thin which was surprising because she’s a Texas girl but the performance fell flat and she didn’t even seem like she wanted to be there. There’s quite a few songs that made it into the top 10 that I wasn’t expecting but for the most part this is a solid group of songs. I’m not really one to get into making predictions so going to pass on that part but can’t wait to see how this all plays out!

3. How far do you see your #1 go? I think it can make the top 10. Don't wanna get my hopes any higher lol Your wish has been granted! Don't be fooled by my ranking. I am glad this made top 10. The staccato piano notes in the bridge is pure fun. Quite straight forward bop if you ask me.

#9 has all odd rankings and is mainly boosted by non-country posters.

Powerful southern rock that investigates stress and doubts in touring/highway life. Am always a fan when that heavy guitar riff kicks in. Length is necessary to maximize the dynamics in this song.

Someone will lose a #1 at #8, along with two more top 10 loss and two bottom 10 loss.

Turns out I like this song for the similar reason why I like Jackpot -- the piano interlude lol. This one has slightly more badass and funny lyrics, especially "If you drink all night you'll be thirsty all day" is too true. And yes I intended to avoid her first album because I do want this rankdown to be a discovery rankdown of sorts. This sounds the most accessible song from her second album.

I did not expect the next song to have such a strong support and who supported this song considering the type of artist he is, and I really wish this is a single at least on some type of radio...

Or a low SD in this rankdown helps. The wind chime effect from instruments sounds cool, and a descriptive story of immigrants whose family is separated because of border. His new album (Red Bandana) released on June 21st is quite good too despite running too long just like the previous album (Vaquero).

#6 just won #7 by 2 points despite being more divisive. It comes from an underrated album that every one says it's underrated, even Anthony Fantano.

Extremely strong vocal presence, not oversing and being natural. Quite tough to perform well if you ask me. The shift between emotional explosion in third verse and then followed by a bit low-key note at the beginning of final chorus...just wow. Just give her best female vocalist awards already!

Both of my top two are still in as well as my 7, 10, and 16. I was keeping my expectations low for Sturgill to make it into the top 5 but I’m glad to see he did…and what a top 5 this is overall with artists such as Jason Isbell, Lori McKenna, and Turnpike Troubadours!
Not really good at making predictions but now that we’re down to only five songs I’ll give it a shot:
1. Young and Angry Again 2. 24 Frames 3. The Promise 4. A Tornado Warning 5. Norman Rockwell World

I’m very happy with how this top 10 is going so far. Aaron Watson and Caitlyn Smith’s songs in particular were incredible! I had no real expectations for this Rankdown, since I am so far removed from this faction of the music industry, but seeing them both do this well was something I was hoping for. I also found Norman Rockwell World to be really catchy, so I’m thrilled to see it hanging on! Jason Isbell as well. I have no idea how this top 5 will play out, but I hope those can be the top 2! Although it’ll likely be Lori McKenna with the win, just because Pulse has an infatuation with her songwriting.

3 songs I really enjoyed and 2 I didn't at all in this top 5. Hoping for a Lori McKenna win here.

#5 has the highest SD in the rankdown. All particpants except one ranked this either top 5 or bottom 5, and two people's #1 will be gone.
