Can we talk about the song and not political topics. I Hope was #1 again on this week's country streaming chart.

Unfortunately I saw some predictions on Hot 100 chart next week that One Margarita is going to be next Hot Country Songs #1 as previous #1 (The Bones) falls below this song. I think Hard To Forget is coming hard in next two weeks so this song has to be stable by then to be new HCS #1.

Album #64 with 7.2k units sold. Increase in sales is due to I hope doing well at pop radio. Good to see album increase

I Hope is back to #1 for a 14th week on the country streaming chart. It also dethrones the Bones and is #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, the first female debut since 2006.

Yessss, so happy she finally got that #1 on HCS! I knew it would happen eventually with it rising in crossover airplay. I imagine it'll hold down the #1 there for a little while, too. It'll be kinda neat to the see two solo females top the HCS chart for the majority of 2020.

The pop version of the song with Charlie Puth really adds to it, so I could see this spending the next 10-15 weeks on top of the HCS chart (if not more). It’s not near peak pop saturation yet...it has lots of room to grow.

I always thought crossover airplay helped on the HCS because it kept the song selling/streaming well (which if it's a country song, there's no way to prevent that from happening). But if they count radio airplay from other formats then that's messed up. In this case, "I Hope" probably would have been #1 for many weeks already had it not been "The Bones" pop airplay so it's kind of fair that it finally got what it deserved, but I see your point.

I mean, I'd rather that crossover airplay not really drive what hits #1 on that chart either, but that's basically the big factor there and at this point it is what it is. And it's previously benefited male artists much more than female artists since the charts were split up like that, with only minor exceptions. This is the first year where it's really because female artists are actually dominating with hit crossover singles of their own (since Bebe Rexha, i.e., was propped up by FGL). Maren Morris and Gabby Barrett blocking out artists like Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, and Sam Hunt from #1 on HCS is kinda satisfying to see given that the only thing less favorable to women than the Country Airplay chart in the past decade is the Hot Country Songs one. It's refreshing to see the tides changing finally, on both charts. lipe yes, the airplay this is receiving on the CHR, HAC, and AC charts is directly factored into its position on the Hot Country Songs chart.

And there aren’t that many country songs that really get significant crossover play, but when one does, nothing that’s country only has a chance on the HCS chart.

I remember the change in methodology and splitting of charts literally happened as Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” was about to be #1 on HCS. Instead, she got #1 on Country Airplay and #2 on HCS. BA remains Carrie’s last solo #1 on the chart... it’s been eight years. #neverforget

Maybe now that it's benefitting women, the sexist country executives will change the methodology again to remove the pop influence! Ironically giving us what we've wanted for the past decade

I think the worst example was having Taylor’s pop song We’re never ever ever ever being #1 in the Hot Country Songs chart for 10 weeks, even though it barely made it to #13 in country airplay during its debut week -likely due to curiosity only- and then it plummeted.

I agree it never should have been #1 on that chart, but she did send a country radio remix to country radio, which is why it got play for 8 weeks. But it was a pop song by nature, and that is why it stumbled before the Top 10 and didn't reach its debut position again.

you should know that this seperation chart kinda thing happened solely due to WANEGBT. Big Machine execs/Scott Borchetta/industry player wanna keep her top 10 chart streak but WANEGBT barely made into top 10 on Country Airplay. So they 're-brand' HCS by adding sales cause they know Taylor is HUGE at that time and there you go, she got that No.1 on HCS for weeks while stumbling on airplay. Ima huge Taylor fan. I'm so happy but at the same time, pissed off little bit.

HCS chart changing to a simple chart based off the Hot 100 methodology was determined and in place well before Taylor released this song, and affects every genre of music. Unless Taylor's label had an agreement with Billboard a half-year before the album release when she was still writing songs, I don't know how this is factually correct. It's true that the change happened at the beginning of WANEGBT, but I would chalk this up to coincidence and not some overly thought out plan between the two parties. Billboard was wanting to change their component charts to reflect the Hot 100 for quite some time.

Billboard was wanting to change their component charts to reflect the Hot 100 for quite some time. you don't need to have a deal when you're Taylor 'Effin' Swift. The America's Sweetheart. Billboard chart methodology news might be circulated around industry player at that moment and BB didn't announced the exact date. All we know is they change the chart all of sudden and everyone was shocking like hell. God knows what happened behind the scene. Mind you that this is all happened when WANEGBT descending the airplay at #36 and they just released Begin Again. So it's happened when that song already 'dead' and nothing they could do unless..... Like Lizzo said, Truth Hurts. Here's the receipt, sis www.change.org/p/billboard-stop-the-use-of-multi-format-airplay-in-determining-hit-country-r-b-rock-songs

This song is why the album is picking up. I believe Gabby will be as successful as Carrie Underwood. It’s just not gonna happen instantly!
