This song is why the album is picking up. I believe Gabby will be as successful as Carrie Underwood. It’s just not gonna happen instantly! I’m thinking more like Elvis or The Beatles.

Watch us coming back to this in 40 years and being like wow he called it lol She's never going to be able to post album sales like Carrie did, but that's just not how the industry works anymore. She could do just as well as Carrie or even better than her, but it's a long road and plenty of promising artists flame out fast. I personally think she'll have a few good years but anything past a nice 10 year career will surprise me honestly. (Thought the same about Luke Bryan at one point so take that as you will haha)

Gabby is definitely the star we needed from the ABC era of American Idol. I'm hoping we can get a couple hits from Laci, Dillon & Laine. They could keep this country thing rolling!

Nice little increase I’d say not trying to nitpick but these album updates might go better in the Goldmine album thread.

New peak of #11 on the Hot 100. Wow, this is now officially a bigger hit than even "The Bones" was.

One thing with any list, especially the hot100, is part of your peak depends a lot on what else is happening. Which makes comparisons like this difficult. It would be more useful if we knew the number of actual points

I don't want to get into the "The Bones" vs. "I Hope" debate that is inevitably already happening online, but it is interesting to note how adding a feature/remix substantially helped Gabby while it hardly helped Maren. I wonder how much bigger "The Bones" might've been if someone more friendly to pop had been the feature rather than Hozier. I will say it's extremely impressive both singles became such crossover smashes. Maren did it practically by herself (of course with the help of "The Middle") while Gabby had Charlie Puth to tug her along (although it was her debut single, making it more impressive). What a great year for country women. If only "Die From a Broken Heart" could get a HAC push or something.

What a great year for country women. If only "Die From a Broken Heart" could get a HAC push or something. I'm sure the remix helped out in some way, but Charlie Puth isn't exactly Justin Bieber for the pop formats. The last big airplay hit of his own was 2-3 years ago now -- his recent solo singles have all barely done anything. "I Hope" was carried to success on the strength of the song itself not the artists involved.

Not to discredit Gabby’s success but timing is also a factor here. Gabby’s team/label pushed it for crossover immediately after peaking at Country. With The Bones, it was never officially pushed until Pop stations decided to give it a go. By then it had already peaked at Country and also was about to peak on Hot AC. Pop was the reason it consistently held on to its Top 15/20 position for weeks. If Maren’s team had pushed for Hot AC and Pop crossover at the same time, I’m willing to bet she’d have easily gotten a Top 5/10 peak on Billboard Hot 100.
Both songs are as equally as massive imho. It’s truly amazing to see this because one, it has been a while since we’ve seen huge crossover hit, let alone two! And two, it shows how important female artists are to the Country genre.

What Gabby has accomplished is pretty amazing. And Gabby is the best new female vocalist and it doesn’t matter what the Acms says. The success in I hope speaks for itself.

The success in I hope speaks for itself. ”I Hope” is possibly the biggest country crossover hit since “Body Like A Back Road”, I’m shocked they paid her dust. At the same, “Rainbow” by Kacey Musgraves got a nomination this year, so who knows what the eligibility period is.

Definitely enjoyed her performance at the ACM’s, but did anyone else notice that her husband, who was playing and doing BGVs, didn’t know the words?!?

It's now #5 on the Hot 100! Soon would be a great time for Gabby and Charlie to release a new music video to help continue the upward movement!
It has now moved its way up to #3 on the Hot 100!

I am now seeing people on Youtube on the Billboard chart review screaming "PAYOLA" on this song for how long it have been on the charts. I am getting tired of this song.

#3 now on Billboard Hot 100 this week!
Gabby Barrett's "I Hope," featuring Charlie Puth, rises 5-3 on the Hot 100, hitting a new high, as it posts a third week at No. 2 on Radio Songs (78.1 million, down 2%), after a week at No. 1; bounds 15-6 on Digital Song Sales (9,000, up 81%); and re-enters Streaming Songs at No. 30 (9.8 million, up 14%). The song gains in all metrics after Barrett and Puth performed it on the 54th annual Country Music Association Awards, broadcast on ABC on Nov. 11.
A week after "I Hope" completed the longest climb ever to the Hot 100's top five, it wraps the longest journey to the top three: 46 weeks, surpassing the 43-week ascent of Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" in 2012-13. "I Hope" led the Country Airplay chart for a week in April and, aided by its Puth remix released that month, has segued to adult and pop radio (as it continues in the top 10 on the Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop Songs and Pop Songs airplay charts). It tops the multi-metric Hot Country Songs chart for a 16th week.

I don't like Gabby as a person, but this song slaps and I like seeing country songs (especially by females) thrive.
