She’s just such a great vocalist and songwriter. So much talent. She truly deserves the success and I think “Run” could do really well, country radio is finally playing more women consistently and I think this will definitely sound good on radio this fall and winter. Great single choice, and I hope it’s a #1!

"Run" sounds like another flop. How sad. The Jon Pardi duet was literally right there. This is so frustrating. Hope I'm proven wrong and it surprises everyone, but she had much more obvious hits than "Run" (really most of her recent singles...) and they all failed to do much, so I'm not feeling optimistic.

I'd actually like in an ironic twist of fate if "Run" which some deem a mistake of a single choice is actually her most successful single.
Listening to "Run" it does sound fine enough, generic radio fodder which may work to it's benefit since it seems like country radio is playing more women. Who knows though?

I do like "Run" and I can see it being a radio hit. However, since it's Lauren Alaina, I'm not optmistic. It could be another top30/40. It's a good song, but as .indulgecountry said, she has released some obvious hits before that went nowhere. I see Ladies in the '90s, Getting Good & Doin' Fine as better choices for country radio and they all failed. The Jon Pardi duet is the only safe choice on the EP and it needs to be released. I can only understand it not being the single if Jon Pardi's team somehow didn't let her release it. If that's the case, I'm okay with "Run" being the single, even though as I said, I'm not sure it will work. Maybe I'd pick "If I Was a Beer" thinking of country radio but that seems like the least popular song on the EP from what I've read. Also, the Lukas Graham duet is connecting VERY well with the listeners. Currently #4 on Country iTunes even though it was just released as a track on the EP and a lot of people are praising it. It sounds like a hit but I believe it doesn't belong to country radio.

The only reason I can think of is Jon Pardi’s team didn’t want it released because it might eat into spins of “Ain’t always the cowboy”. Kinda like why Maren didn’t release “All my favorite people” because Bros are pushing “All night” and didn’t want to hurt their climb.

I’m going to hope that a GMA host calling it her new single doesn’t mean that’s actually what the label has decided. If so, I imagine we can expect to watch it for a year and hope for it to barely scrape the top 30. I realize that other factors may force them into this decision, but it will just be so disappointing if they end up releasing yet another mid-tempo inspirational song when it’s clear those aren’t going to work for her.

I like Run better then The Pardi duet but I see the radio potential of it. I was wondering if they are going to send What do you think of to pop etc radio and didn’t want two duets out there.maybe radio can play Run in between all the generic male songs.

She needs a better team. She could be THE thing in the genre if they stopped picking such bland singles for her. Absolutely heartbreaking to hear “Run” is the new single. It’s going to flop.
Such a beautiful voice wasted on a mediocre career.

I'm going to agree with this - I don't think them calling it a "single" necessarily means anything. I mean, it is the EP's "single" per say. It feels like they're in for "Getting Good" as long as it will hold on. I hope I am right and that GMA called "Run" a single because, for all intents and purposes, it is... minus the actual radio single push. If she's promoting the EP, that's what she's going to sing. It makes sense. The other two songs that are connecting are duets that would be strange to sing alone. I also think that literally anything else on the EP would do better as a single than "Run". It's good but it's so bland. Both duets are connecting well and "Seen You In Your Hometown" is pulling ahead of the other two non-promo'd songs. Literally anything besides "Run" is a good idea, for when the day DOES come that something new has to be pushed to radio.

Jon and Lauren are on the same label and "Ain't Always the Cowboy" is top 20 so I feel like this isn't totally an issue. It's not like his song is struggling in the 30s/40s (like Brothers Osborne) and he literally just did the same thing with "Beer Can't Fix". (This is me convincing myself that they wouldn't pass over the Pardi duet for the reason you mentioned above.)

Isn’t Pardi on Capitol and Lauren on Mercury?

The only difference thou with “Beer Can’t Fix” is that Thomas Rhett is a huge star who’s songs move up the charts much faster. Let’s say this duet with Lauren is a slow climb to the top, is Pardi ok with it taking a year or longer to get done? Jon Pardi while a big star isn’t big enough yet to demand airplay from multiple songs at the same time.

Jon Pardi would be fine if he had a feature out simultaneously with one of his own singles. Radio LOVES him. The idea that it would take away spins from his own single is overinflated because he's definitely in a spot now where he can get away with it. If "etting Good" can limp to almost top 30 while competing with spins from a hit feature ("One Beer"), then Pardi, someone with an actual record of hits @ country radio, has nothing to worry about.

Also Getting Good had a good week I don not think it is done yet.

"What Do You Think Of?" is an absolute smash. I hope her team is prepared to push a crossover hit. UMG needs to pull up their big kid pants and push this to Pop/HAC, and heck maybe even country. Songs with no promo by two average-lower sized artists don't react this way for no reason.

Did she perform WDYTO somewhere? I just saw it at #4 on iTunes and was like what’s happening??? This is quite a promising start. Next single?

It got no promo. It's featured on the first row of "New Music Daily" on iTunes, but so is Carly Pearce's new single and that's at #71 right now. It is a very promising start. Just not sure if it works for country radio?

I hope they pick one of the duets. I feel they are better picks by a long shot. “What do you think of me” could be a big crossover hit. They still have time to salvage this.

The wording in Country Aircheck special sounds like Getting Over Him is the next single, but it is definitely not "climbing the charts".

I have no idea what they’re doing with this. Just give it one last big push into the top 30 and move on already. Hopefully the Country Aircheck blurb is just a bit early and Getting Over Him will indeed be the next single climbing the charts. Or you know, whatever you call it when a song gains one spot per month for a year.

Well after 50 weeks of being promoted to country radio "Getting Good" finally enters the Top 30 on Mediabase losing 33 spins and 18k in audience this week. Expect Countdown spins to help this song next week. Also this becomes her 6th Top 30 single on country radio ("Georgia Peaches", "Road Less Travelled", "Doin' Fine", What Ifs", and "One Beer" beforehand).
Don't know how much longer the label is going to hold onto this song as it is about to enter Week 47 on Billboard tomorrow, but kudos to this song getting into the Top 30 finally. Would love if this could get into the Top 20 on Mediabase but I doubt that so much since "Getting Good" would have to double it's spins and audience and with this song already struggling to stay afloat.

Absurdity.
My opinion is they wait for top 25 which could easily come in the next few weeks as long as it isn't passed. Ashley McBryde, Thomas Rhett, and Keith Urban are all likely/certain to go recurrent next week. Then from there only push to top 20 if it is in real reach.
Otherwise drop and push the Jon Pardi duet and get the Lukas Graham duet at Pop/HAC now.

#29 on BB and MB this week, new peaks. I am very glad that after almost a year it is, at very least, a top 30 song as many of us predicted it would be back in September 2019.
1 notch away from matching "Georgia Peaches" and 2 away from "Doin' Fine". So...again... bleh. Yeah.
It is also the third oldest song on the chart behind Maddie & Tae and Kip Moore.
Sure doesn't hurt that this, Kelsea Ballerini and Tenille Arts are the only solo women in the top 30 that aren't in freefall (and make up the final three spots in the top 30) to help keep this song stringing along. I imagine radio will start moving Kelsea right along as the woman heading for #1 and might let this song and Tenille Arts sneak top 20 if they're lucky.

I highly doubt this one can make top 20 given how much spins and audience it needs to start gaining for that to happen, but I'm very pleased it at least got her back into the top 30.

I think they may push this to top 25 to not only peak where doin fine did and allow them more time to choose the correct next single (this is crucial this time around I feel and it’s prob between the two duets and Run and are weighing each songs performance metrics) but also I think with the amount of time it would take to achieve top 25, this song will gain enough to get gold in equivalent sales. Notice how she hasn’t had ANY certifications. I truly think they’re waiting for this song to hit gold to announce ALL of the RIAA certifications along with the next single. Now THAT is a good way to launch the next single as it shows yes she hasn’t had the best radio chart placements but the singles and her career/popularity are actually bigger than her chart placements.
