Okay boomer. I will forever judge you for thinking that Ed Sheeran could ever be better than Queen Céline. Shows how much your judgement is worth! I won't lie, when I saw you choose Celine I gasped! 😲😩😂 But I'll try to throw her a bone or two. Also to be fair, that one was of only 3 Ed Sheeran songs I'll ever be giving him votes for. Wait, do you not LIKE Queen Céline???? This judgement is getting realer by the second!! But also 100% agree with you that "Castle On The Hill" is an amazing song! SwiftlySheeran was really smart to pick that one!

Just shy of the top spot is Clay's second career single, "Live Until I Die". Quite an impressive set of rankings here, with 2 #1's and 8 top 5's. Aside from taylor's random #22, everyone had this 11th or better. It's easy to see why, as this is such an iconic song. It's probably the Clay song I've heard the most over the years, but it's still an enjoyable listen. In the end though, nothing could top...

And there you have it, the winner of the Clay Walker rankdown - "If I Could Make a Living"! It was the lead single from Clay's second album of the same name. The song was co-written by Alan Jackson.
This song left little doubt about the result, with nearly half of you ranking it 1 or 2! The song is insanely catchy, one of the all-time earworms. It's not the weightiest song, but it has endured over the years because of that catchiness and the excellent fiddle-driven melody. Overall, a very worthy winner.
And that's a wrap folks. Hope you all enjoyed taking a trip back to the 90's (and 00's) to explore one of my favorite artists.

"If I Could Make A Living" should literally be the textbook example for earworms. It is nothing but a weightless ditty, but it has one of those melodies where once you hear it once, it will never let you go... Thank goodness it is barely 2 minutes long, so you can easily listen to it on repeat!!

No matter the outcome both “If I Could Make a Living” and “Live Until I Die” are two of my all-time favorites from Clay and ones that I still revisit quite often. As I mentioned at the outset of the rankdown Clay Walker is an artist that I literally grew up with on country radio as he debuted in 1993 just as I was really beginning to dig my roots into the genre as a young boy. I can remember going down to the local Wal-Mart where I bought his CD (ok I didn’t buy it my mom did) and I continued listening to and purchasing every record thereafter. Thanks kw9461 for hosting this and opening up some great discoveries for some of our fellow Pulsers!

Wait, do you not LIKE Queen Céline? ! The tastelessness! I- Actual footage of me refusing to believe there's people in the world that don't like CÉLINE DION. Anyways lmao--it turns out I thought I had my Top 5 in the Top 5 but I clearly didn't remember because I was very wrong. All great songs tho! (#2 is a great song as well but I stand by my #22 at the present time--there were quite a few greats in this rankdown.) Thanks for hosting this rankdown kw9461! How's it feel finishing the first country rankdown of the 2020s! Clay definitely was one of those artists that--aside from the winning single--flew under my radar. Yes I'm a 90s country baby because I grew up on that kind of music (my mom was 9 at the beginning of the decade and 19 by the end of it.) However, being born just afterwards in 2000, I did only grow up on the even bigger artists of the 90s like Reba, Martina, Shania, Faith, etc. As a result, 39 out of these 40 songs were discoveries for me and while some of them are NOT my cup of tea (and have no business existing imo ), a lot of them are new favorites! Can't wait for his album series if that ends up being a thing!

"If I Could Make a Living" was far and away the correct winner so I'm super pleased by this outcome!
