Lol @ "The Highlights" still returning to top 10 nearly a year later. Reminder that GH's getting streaming for hits is a mess.
I'm surprised recent superstar acts like Rihanna/Katy/Gaga/etc who for the most part aside from 1 album (Anti, Teenage Dream, The Fame) don't ever really chart much with their catalog haven't had a similar compilation commissioned by their labels so they can suddenly have an album that has a residency in top 40 every single week. I suppose it's a matter of time.

Good to see Planet Her back in Top 10.

As much as I love Adele, I do hope Encanto OST comes through since it is probably its best chance to be #1 in the Billboard 200. Also, hope to see Hollywood's Bleeding back in the top 20.

When will morgan go away? It's a headache to see him there week after week.

I remember some thought Def Jam was planning for a Greatest Hits while we were waiting for Anti. Sigh.

Sucks to see Adele lose the throne to an OST, but I canβt complain about the film resonating - havenβt seen it yet. Hopefully she can bag a few more weeks with Grammys. Iβm worried sheβs going to skip for 2023, though.

Like I like Rihanna enough to buy a hits set on vinyl but not enough to spend hundreds of dollars on her entire catalog on vinyl.

Wow at Rodrigo selling 17k. Is that for any particular reason? Adele will pass 2 million SPS, but getting to 3 million might be a struggle if a second single doesn't connect. When will morgan go away? It's a headache to see him there week after week. Unfortunately it isn't going anywhere for awhile. Due to his racist actions, it hasn't had many singles despite having been out for a year. He has a single rising at country radio right now, and they could continue to work the album for a bit after this single. Whether or not they do that, this album will surely benefit whenever he does release another album.

Yeah with Xmas over, how far Adele gets beyond 2m is entirely up to her and her team promoting.

That's not too bad a drop for Adele, particularly the pure sales.
I do wonder when they will start properly pushing a second single. Her Vegas residency starts in a couple weeks or so.

Yeah with Xmas over, how far Adele gets beyond 2m is entirely up to her and her team promoting. Not entirely, it also depends on the public liking the songs enough to continue streaming/buying them, which might be a problem because so many people have already bought the album. This makes me think with almost 100% certainty that they will rework one of the album's existing tracks as some sort of a remix or duet, a la Save Your Tears with Ariana, or release new track(s) and tack them onto a deluxe edition that will be released further down the line.

Yeah with Xmas over, how far Adele gets beyond 2m is entirely up to her and her team promoting. It should go 3x platinum relatively easily I would've thought? Plus the sales/streams of "Easy On Me" pre album release add an extra 100-150k to its SPS I think? I expect we'll get something this month. It's only January 5th and it's won't be until next week when Year-end countdowns etc are fully over (streaming/airplay etc). The BRITS are happening in February and she will likely give a performance then/win awards - so the second single push should be in full swing by then. Grammys is up in the air though given the possibility of changing the date.

I agree the drop isn't too bad and is in line with what I was expecting for the first full week following Christmas and into the new year, but as far as a second single, Oh My God is already being pushed. It's #16 on Radio Songs. It's still missing a video (though Adele often doesn't do videos for all her singles, see Rumor Has It, WWWY, and WUTB), but how else would it need to be properly pushed?

It was sent to radio in the US, but that's about it. No promo, no video. It hasn't gone to radio in the UK yet (or internationally). It's a single, but I'm wondering when they will do a proper push for it. I assume it'll be added to radio playlists in the UK in the next couple weeks if they still plan on having "Oh My God" as the second single. Even "When We Were Young"/"Set Fire To The Rain" had live performance videos at least. She's likely really busy with the preparation for her Vegas show though. I hope they have filmed a video for "Oh My God" and will release it soon, along with a promo blitz. As I said in a previous post it's only Janaury 5th though. I'm sure in a few weeks things will be quite different!

Obviously some promo would help, but "OMG" has pretty decent airplay at this point and is still struggling in streaming.

The label basically held her at gunpoint to get a video done. It would be very Adele of her to just do EOM on all the award shows. The stakes are much lower now (she wasn't entirely established yet back then), so we'll see what happens. There's an IDW video ready. Let's hope OMG gets one too.

It would be very Adele of her to just do EOM on all the award shows. "WWWY" technically had a video, and she performed it on Saturday Night Live, Ellen, and during her NBC special (and several times in the UK). Personally I'd call that a push.

Encanto OST should've been credited to Lin-Manuel Miranda & Germaine Franco. Just like Hamilton should've been credited to LMM. Smh.

Yet another posthumous album going #1, this time one by Walt Disney. Super impressive album considering all of these songs had to have been recorded before the end of 1966 and also how Walt was able to do all those different voices despite being a 65 year old man
(seriously though it's pretty funny the Encanto soundtrack is credited to a company that also shares its name with a real life guy)

^That's one of the asterisk cases where the songs were inspired by the movie itself.
