The five-time GRAMMY-winning Piano Man himself, Billy Joel, will perform at the 2024 GRAMMYs. He joins previously announced performers Billie Eilish, Burna Boy, Dua Lipa, Luke Combs, Olivia Rodrigo, and Travis Scott.

Joelβs been making the rounds lately: The one and only Piano Man recently announced the release of βTurn the Lights Back On,β his first new single in decades, due out Feb. 1.
Joel now joins previously announced performers Billie Eilish, Burna Boy, Dua Lipa, Luke Combs, Olivia Rodrigo, and Travis Scott as 2024 GRAMMYs perfomers. Additional performers will be announced in the coming days and weeks. See the full list of performers and host at the 2024 GRAMMYs to date.

This is me being picky, but I'm confused why they end the article with "Additional performers will be announced in the coming days and weeks." WEEKS? It's happening in 11 days, lol.

I donβt know whatβs going on but the publicity for this yearβs award seems low. Hard to believe this is just days away.

SZA was announced today as well. There's a promo going around online that apparently aired last night on CBS that includes Xtina, Taylor, Lionel Ritchie and Oprah as folks expected to be there (the rest of the artists they included are already confirmed performers - although the ad does include SZA who was not confirmed officially until today). Expect more announcements throughout the week I guess!
But I agree... even the activity in this thread compared to GRAMMY threads prior is PALING in comparison and we are mere days away from the show. We're barely on page 6 of this thread WITH nominations out... the final page 6 date for the past few years:
2023 - October 14th (50 pages total) 2022 - November 5th (46 pages total) 2021 - August 20th (68 pages total) 2020 - August 11th (70 pages total) 2019 - June 15th (120 pages total)

It doesnβt help that music was boring af during this past eligibility period (at least for me).
They need more star power for the performances. Have Taylor perform a song from Midnights, Ariana can perform her new single, throw in some other artists who had a good year in 2024 who would get people talking. Whereβs Miley, Kylie, Troye, Ice Spice, Ed who are all nominated? Country had a big year on the charts but nowhere do we see Zach/Kacey or even Morgan Wallen who both had huge hits and are nominated. It would even be nice to see a legacy artist do a Tina Turner tribute.

Very pleased that SZA is performing. But whereβs Victoria? No way can she just be attending or presenting with all those nominations. Same for Coco Jones. I need my leading ladies to step up to the front. Country had a big year on the charts but nowhere do we see Zach/Kacey or even Morgan Wallen who both had huge hits and are nominated. I thought Morgan Wallen wasnβt nominated. So whatβs all the discourse about him being βsnubbed?β Iβd love to see Zach and Kacey perform.

His song is, but for a songwriting award - of which he is not credited for. Agree 100% about Kacey/Zach.

My whole post was about the lack of big names/big hits being performed at the Grammys this year. I hate Morgan Wallen but my point still stands. I didnβt know it was just his song nominated for solely songwriting.

They've certainly had non-nominated people perform before, but Wallen's music technically is nominated so they could justify him performing if they wanted. Thankfully they don't seem interested in him.
I do agree this year seems low profile. Miley Cyrus would add some name value. Why not get Kylie on there to perform? Considering Babyface's noms, I'd more so love a Babyface segment and he can do one of his nominated songs, but they could also bring out Toni Braxton and Brandy or someone to perform some of his older songs in a medley that draws an historical line to the Girls Night Out project.

I think just as the years go on, Award shows are just more and more irrelevant (sadly)
Unless there is a major movie/tv/album the award shows are just boring. This year, while still having good music, it just didn't feel like a real blockbuster year for music. And the fact Taylor isnt even performing makes it sad (I know she is touring, etc) but still lol
I am surprised Miley is not performing (yet?) . Maybe they are still going to be announcing someone daily? I guess it is Tues so we could still see a few days of announcements.

It's just in a different metric (Social media like TikTok, X etc) The thing is people just read the winners quickly on social media or watch their faves moments. It's not a group effort in front of the TV anymore

Happy that Kacey is attending, but I wanted to see her and Zach performing "I Remember Everything" instead

I feel like this is my least excited for grammys. Besides the Luke/Tracy performance lol
Is this also the year with least artists included for the BIG 4? I don't even think half of them are performing, including the most nominated of the night Victoria Monet. She isn't my most favorite personally but Grammy darling Janelle Monae is not even performing?

I think it's shaping up to be a great show! (I hope) I still need to make my predictions, which I'll try to do shortly...

SZA - SOTY ROTY AOTY (I know it won't win all 3, but Idc) Victoria - BNA (the only right choice)
wouldn't be mad at all if Anti-Hero wins ROTY. I really want Miley to win a grammy, but not with Flowers. Hope Olivia wins at least pop solo. omg, totally forgot how pop duo/group noms suckkkkkssss. Taylor winning AOTY would be solely because of her name and hype, it's not the best album.
