Chris Stapleton was a terrible choice for BGV on this. He sounds absolutely dreadful trying to blend with Carly Pearce during the chorus. I can only imagine how wonderful this would sound if he were swapped out for, say, Vince Gill. Like the night and day difference that would've made. Ugh. I didn't wanna set my expectations too low just based off Chris Stapleton's involvement in this, but he definitely fucked it up like I was worried he might. 🥴🚮
On the first couple listen, there's potential and I can see this one inevitably growing on me, but as it stands now... possibly my least favorite Carly Pearce single to date. Even ignoring him, the melody of this one doesn't hook me strongly the way her recent hits have. :/

Yeah I already don’t like Chris very much as it is think he’s very overrated but my god worst pick here I wish she’d got Vince gill on this he would’ve been perfect for this

I actually don't think Chris Stapleton is the problem here as a backing vocalist as their voices mix together okay, not great, but not bad. But his voice on the bridge going solo does sound a bit rough. I personally like Chris Stapleton and his music more than a fair amount of people here but this is a collab that sounds great on paper, but in execution it can only be so good and this is okay.
No the thing that truly takes me out of this song is Carly Pearce's going "We don't yell, (pause) cause what the hell, (pause) difference would it make" the pauses are just so awkward for me and borderline make the melody fall completely flat.

I love this. The writing on it is top tier.
I think it’ll be a big seller/ streamer, but I’m not sure how radio will take to it as it doesn’t scream radio friendly, but she’s defied those odds in the past so I wouldn’t be surprised if she does it again.

Well CP's team should know Chris Stapleton is not exactly hot in terms of radio.
But this song is great. Much better than all of her past lead singles to me. All I know is that the eventual live performance would be a classic.

Does this have a iHeart hourly play deal? Don’t think she’s ever got one of those but i feel like I’ve heard this a ton this morning.
For me - as a Carly fan - probably my second least favorite lead single - but Carly has never really had massive hits with the first song out (except ELT) so I’m still hopeful there is incredible stuff coming.

This is a well-written song, and I actually don't mind Chris Stapleton's background vocal. I just don't think the melody is distinct enough, but it may grow on me. Overall, inferior to most of Carly's singles, but superior to most of Stapleton's songs.

While this isn’t terrible by any means, this is…disappointing. I had high expectations because Carly has been consistently delivering with top-notch material, and I’ve loved everything.
Maybe it’ll need to grow on me, but unfortunately, this falls a little flat for me when comparing to her previous work.

This will definitely debut inside the top 50 on the Mediabase rolling chart tomorrow. Maybe top 40.
Looking like a top 30 debut on Billboard Country Airplay.

This isn't as instant as her last few singles, and would rank on the lower half of '29' but I do like this a lot. I see this being more of a grower over time.

Definitely hope this is a grower for me because, yeah, like many of you guys have stated, this one isn’t as instant for me as I was hoping and the song really isn’t as clever as it thinks it is. But in terms of her lead singles, I would easily take this over "Closer To You" and "Next Girl" so I’m still beyond excited for her next project and am confident that she is going to deliver with utmost quality.

The song is cute, but I don't like their voices together.

I was really hoping for the duet to be with Nate Smith the way she talked him up in an interview I seen months ago.

I'm huge Carly Pearce fan. I agree with most everyone in saying this is a very bad single and song. Hoping it will click for me better on future listens.
I've been very disappointed lately with most new music releases recently. I'm bummed out.

I don’t think it’s a bad song. I think she could’ve chosen a better duet partner.

I’m her biggest (only?) non-fan on this board but I did wanna say her vocals are much better on this than most of her other work which usually takes me out of the song with how bad she sounds wailing.
This song is very boring though. I have a few issues 1) Is she always going to have a duet/feature at this point? We just had Lee Brice and Ashley McBryde. She needs more solo singles. 2) I feel like she’s been in this heartbroken/breakup mode for too long now. I LOVED both of her last singles despite not caring much for her as an artist but at this point I’m bored with the goodbye songs and wanted some tempo from her. 3) To me , this doesn’t sound like something radio is gonna wanna play anyway? The last 2 singles (and IHYHN) were undeniable but this is like a random track 8 that should have stayed an album cut.
Anyway I’m glad she sounds better!!

I do like some of her songs but don’t care much for her voice. This one is pretty bad IMO.

I actually agree with a lot of this, despite liking the song. When she announced a few weeks ago that her lead single was going to have a feature, I immediately thought the same thing, that she's starting to put out too many features/duets from her own albums in a very short period of time; I actually initially thought the same when she released NWTBTG, with only having one solo single between it and IHYHN. While I loved her duets and might be in the minority of loving this, she needs more solo singles, so she can be seen more of a solo artist rather than a duets artist. I mean she hasn't had two back to back solo singles since Every Little Thing and Hide The Wine (technically HTW/Closer to You, but many, including Carly, try to act like CTY didn't happen lol.) I don't know if her/Big Machine don't have as much faith in her solo material, unless it's already showing all signs of smashing (WHDD), or if they are really just trying to rack in CMAs & Grammys, but this really could've just been a solo song and been just as good (or better in some people's opinion.)

Yeah as much as duets and features often times can lead to solid hits for artists (see Justin Moore and Priscilla Block having arguably one of the biggest hits of the formers career and definitely the latter right now) I do think Carly Pearce is leaning way too far in that well. Having 3 of her last 6 singles being duets/features is a bit much. That and while I do think she pulls off heartbreak/sad/melancholy songs really well I really want another uptempo from her as I have been revisiting "Hide The Wine" lately and I do think her uptempo fun side is also great as well.

I want to like this more than I do, and I really hope that it grows on me over time. I know we’re in the age of moving on as quickly as possible, but it feels like they were a couple more up-tempo choices that they could’ve released from her last album instead of on to a new single. I also agree that it seems Carly’s had a disproportionate amount of solo singles to collaborations.
The BCU article comparing it to songs like “Stay” and “She Thinks His Name Was John” completely misses the mark too, imo. No way the song is in that league.

Don’t care for the song or either vocalist, so this one is a no for me.
