Watch this go #1 just from all the curiosity spins from the title, lol.

Watch it be a depressing ballad about her dating life - slash - how everyone calls her a slut

Watch it be a depressing ballad about her dating life - slash - how everyone calls her a slut  It's definetly going to touch on sexism but the exclamation mark makes me think it will be in an upbeat manner. Hopefully, its either Blank Space's sexier cousin or a fun angry pop rock banger.

Watch it be a depressing ballad about her dating life - slash - how everyone calls her a slut  That's exactly what it's gonna be. This is Taylor Swift, not Cardi B lol. I just hope it's more like Blank Space with its commentary and less like The Man.

I’m shocked we get a title like this for 1989, when this could easily have been something that fit Reputation

If you know the backstory and narrative around Taylor during 1989, you would get it. It's actually not shocking at all.

Yeah, I expect this to be some sort of "Black Space" moment where she pokes fun on the way she was deemed a maneater and a slut back in the day. It might even be exactly why it was cut - there's no way she covers this subject in any better way than how she did it on BS.

It's... definitely a song I just heard.
Probably the one vault track that left no impression on me.

It's one of the two more memorable Vault tracks here imo. I wouldn't say it's as instant or memorable as the Vault tracks for the other albums on first listen.

I'm intrigued if she'll drop a radio edit of it so it can be added to pop.

It sounds like a Midnights track with Reputation lyrics. I’m going to give it a few more listens to really form an opinion on it.

Heard this on the way to the bank today. They must be playing the album on radio. I like this.
"THAT WAS "slut!" FROM THE NEW "1989 TV" on KISS FM"
🤣🤣🤣 not Taylor normalized "slut" for the radios!

this is so weird to think about for a lot of reasons...
anyways I think this song is good, it definitely gets better as it goes on. I guess I'm fine with it being a single, but I do prefer a few of the other vault tracks.

I heard it on my station and it was announced by a male DJ. He did say the title, although he was clearly nervous as he immediately followed it with a very long monologue about "it's a social commentary by Taylor about the unfair standards women are held to and derogatory words that women are called to demean them" so clearly he felt the need to justify saying the title on the radio. It's good that there isn't significant lashback to saying the title, but clearly there's still at least some hesitation for some stations.

I’m not a huge Taylor fan, but I like a lot of her stuff. Is this the focus track from this latest project? It’s probably my 3rd favorite out of the 5 songs that I’m assuming wasn’t on the original release. It’s not bad, just not my favorite. All of her songs are ear worms anyways. I’m saying that in a good way btw. I think out of the unreleased tracks “Is It Over Now” may be my favorite.

Lots pf people used that word back in the 90s, Hole and RHCP as examples. Todd Rundgren has a song called "Slut" on his landmark 'Something/Anything", and there was a band called "Cycle Sluts From Hell".

The radio here censors “devil” from Paint The Town Red and “god damn” is censored from literally every instance now. Was that always a thing? Ain’t no way slut becomes a radio hit.

"God Damn" was never censored on Rock or Alt, but Top 40 was always conservative because the primary audience for CHR is mothers and daughters. Depends on the market, Philly is quite liberal. Up until the 2004 Halftime Show, the rock stations WMMR played everything uncensored.

This is my least favorite of her vault tracks. Not bad, but the others are better. "Is It Over Now" is my favorite.
