The way Kacey sings “Heaven Is” is giving me Dolly so much… the more I listen to it the more I hear it
The song has grown on me a lot since the release being one of my least favorites out the gate

I legit don't understand how anyone is ranking "Jade Green" low. If that song doesn't make you want to roll around in a field of flowers high on shrooms, you're doing it wrong.

^^ Same. That was an immediate standout for me. I listened to it yesterday and it gave me a sonic palette for a fantasy series in my head, lmao. Wrote the first part of the premise in my notes app with that song on loop in the background.

"Ruthless" is available exclusively as a bonus track from Deeper Well on Kacey's store (for now).

Great video about the writing process of “Dinner in Friends”… hope she does it for more songs of the record!

"Ruthless" is great and sounds a little different than the rest of the album so it's a welcome addition as a bonus track! Surprised the bonus track version of the album is only $6 on her website (digital download, but still I figured I'd be paying at least $10 for this)

I'll try to find the bonus track online somewhere. I paid like...$35 plus tax for the vinyl, though at least it comes with a scented vinyl sleeve? I need to listen to this album on headphones as my second full listen.

In fact, I’m sure the instrumental of much of this album would do the same thing for me.

I f**king love this album. It’s right behind GH and might surpass in the future. It’s so lush, grown and cohesive. I can’t believe some of the mid reviews.

Another exceptional album from her. It's so sparse, thoughtful, melodic. Maybe doesn't have some of the lyric complexity she's shown before as thoroughly here, but it's such an effortless listen from beginning to end and back again. I was going to list my favorites but there isn't really a clunker to be found. "Anime Eyes" sticks out but I'm not ready to say how I'm landing on it yet, but it's the only "jury's out" one for me.
Golden Hour is still that girl, and while I think star-crossed has some higher highs, this is more consistently excellent.

I am in love with this record. At my first listen, I wasn't wowed, but I liked it enough to order the vinyl. Over the weekend, with beautiful weather, and listening on my record player, this grew on me immensely. (p.s. -- the 'Deeper Well' scent is phenom, Active Aggressive ) I think the "simplistic" songwriting criticism is quite frankly misplaced. Kacey's songwriting has never been complicated or intricate, or particularly "clever" in the bookish sense. It's the rawness, catchy-yet-easy melodies, her voice and honesty that make her music. Listening to a Kacey Musgraves album is like FaceTiming a friend you haven't seen in 3 months. I'm having trouble understanding how Deeper Well is any more simplistic than Golden Hour. Are we listening to the same albums? Anyway, my top half currently consists of: Cardinal Deeper Well Too Good to be True Dinner with Friends Heart of the Woods The Architect Lonely Millionaire Nothing to be Scared Of

I love the album. My favourites (in no particular order) are "Deeper Well," "Too Good to be True," "Cardinal," "Giver/Taker" (probably my fav on the record), "Sway," "The Architect," and "Jade Green."
Will probably be the perfect album headed into spring.

On track to have her biggest debut in the UK!
I don't think she's getting the #01 in the UK (or even the US), but just being in this conversation at this point, over 10 years into her career, is amazing!

I’m obsessed.
I can currently rank my top 4 and that was tough!
1. Dinner With Friends 2. Heaven Is 3. Cardinal 4. Jade Green
Also I need Jade Green to have like a 4 minute instrumental outro added to it PLEASE.

I said in my YouTube review that there's some "Jolene" energy in "Jade Green" and I stand by that on subsequent listens.

JBE has not changed their listings (yet) nor has the track appeared on AllAccess as far as I know, however I'm getting mixed signals here. Wait... what was the first radio single? Did Deeper Well ever actually go for adds or did a few Triple A stations just jump on it?
I personally prefer DW to both this and The Architect for an AAA single. Cardinal is a standout (and it's solid) but it kind of sticks out on the album and isn't very... Kacey. Not that it really matters which of those songs will enjoy the exposure of these 0.500m audience impressions

Wonderful album. No skips… Ideal for a Sunday morning walk, surrounded by nature. Cardinal is the perfect opener. Some of the songs like Lonely Millionaire remind me of early Zero 7 records.

Music Directors at the stations that picked this up, probably did so on their own (especially as I don't think there was a date for "Cardinal" yet when "Deeper Well" released). And for some further insight, when I talked to one of the guys at U.S. Radio Updater, the impression was "Cardinal" would be the Hot AC / AAA single while "The Architect" might be sent to country. Keep in mind, she is on a Nashville label (and if I recall, he was sent a promo for the latter track).

Been stuck on this album all weekend and idk y'all this might be just as good as Golden Hour. Really a no-skips delight. Kinda obsessed. And I've decided "Anime Eyes" is great.

I'm extremely happy to see the acclaim for the album. I always felt star-crossed got the shaft because it followed Golden Hour, and couldn't match just how amazing that album was (even though I love star-crossed personally)

Wow, thank you!
I kind of disagree with these choices but I'm very very glad they will actually try to work her music on 3 formats. Radio has been largely unkind to her and the fact that her lead didn't go for adds made me think her label's given up on radio. And I wouldn't even blame them after the Zach duet got so little play after literally going #1 on the Hot 100. Hope at least one of the two singles sticks

I’ve been absolutely loving this album. Just beautifully written, honest and cohesive. This is my #2 for her right behind Golden Hour at this point. Hell a top 3 debut would be amazing for her! This album deserves all the accolades.
My favorites so far: Cardinal Sway Jade Green The Architect Deeper Well

Think it's now probably sitting at #2 for me as well. Golden Hour is obviously superior, but this feels like it's in the same 'world' for the most part. There are 2-3 songs that don't do much for me, but love the rest.
I like star-crossed less as time goes on and I'm not sure why. I was really into it when it came out, but I'm looking at the tracklist now and could probably live without half these songs.

Bought the album for $4.99 on iTunes to see if Kacey can get that #1. Glad her label was at least trying to get her there.
I really love "Lonely Millionaire" and kept thinking it sounded like another song I love - I believe it's Zero 7's "Destiny" that I keep thinking of. They both have an etherreal/day-dream-y type production.
