None of my post are directed to you neally. Gotcha- cuz I love me some Carrie but purposely posted my positive and negative Carrie-related Grammy comments in this thread, not Carrie's, in order to have a healthy discussion and avoid any personal attacks.

No problem, sorry about the mix up, I should have quoted to avoid such a thing.

HUGE smile on Natalie's face! Love that picture.
Thanks for the link to the pictures, I love them all actually. I especially adore that one where Carrie's applauding Johnny Gimble. I definitely think I see a lot of mutual admiration on their faces there. Sweet!

It's ridiculous how people just see what they want to see.

This is from an article today from Country Aircheck: As for the Chicks, some have wondered whether their five wins would mean more Country airplay. But it’s hard to imagine the airplay volume changing when the vast majority of PDs interviewed by Country Aircheck said talk of the Chicks was slim or non-existent in the wake of the Grammys. “The morning show did introduce the subject,” says WXBQ/Johnson City-Bristol, TN-VA PD Bill Hagy. “But listeners were mostly not interested.” In Boston, WKLB PD Mike Brophey says his morning team opted not to discuss the Chicks. “The Grammy’s aren’t a huge rallying point for us,” he says. “But we did talk about Carrie Underwood quite a bit.” By contrast, KBEQ/Kansas City PD/morning personality Mike Kennedy says, “We talked Grammys a ton. Thank goodness for Carrie Underwood and the class this young lady exudes.” Looks like not everyone thinks Carrie is a snotty Diva.

Lol at people clutching at straws to find the odd article that did not praise carries performance.
As for you to say san antonio rose was bad shannon just shows you are clueless but at least this has brought your true colours out!
As the denver post critic put it so succinctly
Carrie Underwood's tribute to Bob Wills was fittingly simple and rightfully elegant

She was in the seat directly behind Carrie. Carrie was by both her and James Blunt who was behind Imogen before they stood. The person next to Imogen stood up, but Imogen didn't until Carrie had passed. Do you have this video (or the link to this video) ? Thanks I have it on video tape, but really have no desire to mail it to anyone just to prove I'm right.

Again I watched the video and Carrie was already past Imogen. I am just not seeing what you are. If you want to bash her because you don't like her music that is fine, but lets bash all the winners who didn't show their condolences to their nearby competitors. I don't remember a single artist going back to the other nominees and saying sorry. She went straight to her writers that helped make her a hit. A bigger dis would have been her ignoring Clive Davis on the way, but she didn't. She stuck her hand out to hi five him.

I do not see what PBF is talking about, being totally objective.

is this the first time in grammy history that the 4 major awards (BNA, Record, Song, & Album) were all won by the Country genre? (even though the chicks could argue their country status..... they are still classified as Country)

YAY DIXIE CHICKS!! What a great album and such an incredible performance! I loved seeing The Police together again as well. Did they turn up the mic on Sting's bass because it sounded awesome! Those were the highlights for me on a really great Grammy show.
ETA: Shakira/Wyclef's performance..AWESOME!! Thanks for the video Oral Fixation

SOOOOOOOOO happy for the Dixie Chicks! Every song on their album is amazing and I'm glad that's been recognized.
Very happy for John Mayer as well. Continuum is unbelievable.
I'll also lend my voice to those who were put off by Carrie Underwood's acceptance speech. After seeing someone like Mary J. Blige, a veteran of the industry, exuding so much real emotion and thankfulness, it was hard to watch a newcomer like Carrie take home such an honor and receive it so flippantly. Her speech was full of agenda and void of any authenticity. It made me wish that the award had gone to anyone but her, in spite of the fact that I rooted for her all the way thru Idol, own her album and listen to it on a regular basis. I love her voice and will continue to support her musically, but am no longer a fan of the girl herself. Luckily I don't have to like HER to love her music.

Here is Time magazine's review of the Carrie/RF set...While I did not find anything special about Carrie's first song, I disagree with their review of 'Desperado'- IMO, was incredible except for a very transiently shaky start, and I do agree with Time about Carrie's 3rd performance with RF and all of RF's performances- didn't feel those at all, which sucks because Carrie and RF are presently my two favourite country acts. They should have been able to sing their own music...... www.time.com/time/2007/grammy_moments/9.htmlBest Performances 9 of 17 Previous Next by Josh Tyrangiel E-Mail this Mark J. Terrill / AP Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts Tribute to Bob Wills and Don Henley New San Antonio Rose/Hotel California/Desperado/Life in the Fastlane Grade: D Huh? According to Reba McEntire's intro, the link here is that Wills died the same year the Eagles were becoming a big hit band and—get this!—both Wills and Henley came from Texas. Underwood can sing (she was given Best New Artist and pretty much deserved it) but it's hard to generate momentum on New San Antonio Rose when the crowd is watching a montage of a guy who died three decades ago. Rascal Flatts took a swing at Hotel California, but getting country's nicest band to cover rock's most satanic song is a colossal error in judgment. Then it was back to Underwood doing a dull take on Desperado followed by an 'everybody to the stage' version of Life in the Fastlane. The whole thing—from the choice of honorees to the song selection to the performers—seemed to have been decided by a special Grammy dartboard.

I hear you but I hope she doesn't steer in this direction, attitude-wise. I wish I were more like you where I can so clearly discriminate between music and like of an artist, but unfortunately, I find myself put off by an artist's behaviours as well. Carrie's voice is her best asset (besides being beautiful) so hopefully these little behaviours do not color the public's perception of her, they haven't so far it seems.....

Luckily I don't have to like HER to love her music. you do realize that she had just come off a performance and also this was a all genre award and she probably thought she needed to say she loved country so those who couldn't figure it out knew she was country (there are people who aren't to bright out there and may not have guessed that. LOL) She is still the same ol humble girl we've always known and I can't for the life of me see why one acceptance speech could change your feelings for her as a person, we have no idea what might have been going on in her head. She did say in an interview after the award to a reporter that she still was not able to wrap her head around what had just happened and she was having a hard time comprehending it. It must be overwhelming for her, can people just maybe put themselves in her shoes for even a minute.

^If I were in her shoes I would've been bawling. Haha, but I still love Carrie, it wasn't her best acceptance speech but who cares.
