It just felt to me like her main focus was making sure that she thanked American Idol (which I love) so she wouldn't get beat up in the press (like Kelly Clarkson). And I took her proclamation of love for "country music" as a jab at the Dixie Chicks previous acceptance speech. Almost like a rebuttal (sp??) to their remarks. I really just wish she would have talked a bit from her heart instead I guess.
That was the type of speech I expect to hear at the Billboard Music awards, not the Grammy's.

Ok, seriously what was Time smoking? Shakira and Beyonce the two best performances? Even their FANS admit they were not at their best!
And I do not see anyone freaking out about Carrie's "bitchiness" or "lack of respect" except for on this forum.

mamasboy, if you had read and maybe you did some of the interviews she had before the Grammy's within the last month or so she said that she was really excited to be representing country and that she felt that country music has been kinda put on the back burner when it comes to award shows and industry respect, I don't think her comment had anything to do with the Dixie Chicks in fact I would bet a days pay on it, she likes the chicks I mean she sang one of their songs on AI and has also put their songs on her cd's previous to idol. Also after the award was presented they tried to get her to comment on the chicks and she said she was happy for them and that was all she wanted to say. I think she did talk from her heart, she also had stated numerous times that she didn't think she had a chance to win the BNA and as I stated above I just think she was over stimulated by the whole chain of events. Its just sad to me that people would judge her as a person based on one moment in time.

I have it on video tape, but really have no desire to mail it to anyone just to prove I'm right. Or the evidence is here:
HAHAHA! That was so funny! Post of the year nomination!!!
I don't know why you guys are arguing over Carrie. Personally, if I won a Grammy, I would probably pass over my fellow nominees because I'd be so excited and shocked, not out of rudeness but just because I'd be so wrapped up in myself and the shock of winning a Grammy. Some of you are looking way too far into this. I love Imogen but she probably would have done the same thing.

That makes sense to me now and makes me feels better about some of her comments.

I don't know how closely you follow Carrie, it's obvious I follow he almost to closely lol but any way you should be able to find some of the interviews on Carriefans or elsewhere, she had some parties for her #1 hits and she did a pretty long interview and it has also been noted elsewhere in her interviews on GAC and CMT Insider. I really just think she was shocked.

Speaking of Grammy performances, does anyone have mp3s of Alanis's 96 You Oughta Know performance and/or Mary J's 02 No More Drama performance? These are 2 of my all-time favorites? And also Christina & Gnarls from Sunday??

Ok, seriously what was Time smoking? Shakira and Beyonce the two best performances? Even their FANS admit they were not at their best! Vocally, Christina was better. But, on an enjoyment level I’d give Shakira the edge. Her performance is more memorable. It was also the most action we saw all night. Most artists decided to put on an evening gown and sing a ballad. The performance I enjoyed the most at the Grammy's was Shakira's. Also, I'd say most Shakira fans agree that this was one of Shakira's best performances. There are only a few Shakira fans here, but at Shakira forums her fans loved the performance: forums.shakiramedia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18173

Country radio still cold to Dixie Chicks By KRISTIN M. HALL, Associated Press Writer Mon Feb 12, 6:10 PM ET
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country radio still isn't ready to make nice with the Dixie Chicks.
With a haul of Grammys Sunday, the Texas trio topped their comeback from their 2003 Bush-bashing comment that turned them from superstars to pariahs — but Music Row isn't welcoming them back into the country-music fold.
"Most country stations aren't playing the Chicks, and they aren't going to start now," said Jim Jacobs, owner of WTDR-FM, a country radio station in Talladega, Ala.
The awards might have the opposite effect, sparking another radio backlash against the group. Country broadcasters said Monday that the group's five Grammys show how out of touch the Recording Academy is from the average country fan.
"I think (the listeners) are outraged," said Tony Lama, program director for KXNP in North Platte, Neb. "This is rural, conservative America. They are just disgusted."
Country stations quit playing the Chicks in 2003 after singer Natalie Maines told a London audience: "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.
Almost overnight, Maines became a lightning rod in the debate over the Iraq war, with conservatives blasting her for criticizing the president, especially while on foreign soil.
The Chicks sang about the controversy in their single, "Not Ready to Make Nice," which won Grammys as record and song of the year. Their album, "Taking the Long Way," won album of the year.
"I'm not ready to make nice. I'm not ready to back down," Maines sang. "I'm still mad as hell, and I don't have time to go round and round and round."
Country radio may not be ready to embrace them again, but the Grammy runaway suggests that a significant portion of the rest of the country has come around to their way of thinking. The president's approval ratings are down, and his party was ousted in the midterm elections.
"I'm slowly getting my faith back in mankind," Maines said Sunday.
But the rift with country-music radio seems impossibly wide. The Chicks have said they never felt at home on Music Row, even when they were a top-selling country act.
"If you're trying to offer an olive branch to country radio, that's not the way to do it," said Ken Tucker, Billboard country music correspondent. "The Chicks are celebrating being the outlaws."
The Grammy for best country album almost never goes to a mainstream Nashville act.
Bluegrass siren Alison Krauss and Union Station won the award last year for "Lonely Runs Both Ways," and Loretta Lynn won in 2005 for "Van Lear Rose." Neither got airplay on country radio.
The last time a country album won album of the year was 2002, for the movie soundtrack to "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" — a collection of old-time country that didn't fit the Nashville formula.
Johnny Cash won best country album in 1998 and then made headlines when his record company took out an ad showing a much younger Cash flipping his middle finger and thanking "the country music establishment in Nashville."
Wes McShay, program director of KRMD-FM, in Bossier City, La., said country fans understand that the big stars don't win Grammy awards.
"If you're talking about who's selling out 15,000-seat auditoriums, those acts are not awarded at the Grammys year after year," McShay said.
Consider the Country Music Association awards handed out a few months ago in Nashville: Entertainer of the year went to Kenny Chesney; the other big winners were radio favorites Brooks & Dunn, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts.
That the Chicks weren't even nominated for a CMA award shows how narrow-minded and parochial Nashville's Music Row can be, Maines said.
"Country music, as far as radio and the industry, they are all right there on four blocks in Nashville," Maines said after the show Sunday.
The Dixie Chicks peaked at No. 36 on the Billboard country charts with "Not Ready to Make Nice." That ought to disqualify them from winning best country album, said Jacobs, the Alabama radio station owner.
"How do you win country music album of the year, when country music radio is not playing you?" he said.
Dixie Chick Emily Robison said the Grammy organization is known for recognizing great albums that don't necessarily get played on the radio.
"Especially in country, it does have that tradition of honoring the unsung great albums," Robison said.

She also apparently read a long list like Mary J. when she accepted the female country performance grammy.
Also you may take into consideration that many in the country community aren't furious about the Dixie Chicks wins. They are pissed off that their artists were not allowed to sing their own songs while every other genre artist was. Joe Galante the head of the Nashville branch of Sony BMG was very angry that Carrie couldn't sing one of her singles. In an Entertainment Weekly online blog, the author mentioned Dierks Bentley not being happy that Rascal Flatts couldn't sing their song either. They feel like it was a slight against country.
Also it's funny to me that everyone is saying Carrie came off as arrogant because she was excited and didn't cry. Especially because her non-fans in country said she was fake because they thought she cried too much at the country award shows. She cried or got choked up at all three country awards last year the CMAs, ACMs, and even the fan-voted CMT video awards. The girl just can't win. It's just common knowledge in the country community that the CMAs are the big awards. Most country artists don't even show up to the Grammys.
By the way Carrie posted a new blog thanking the fans for "Making her dreams come true".

By the way Carrie posted a new blog thanking the fans for "Making her dreams come true". How dare she not call me out specifically by name! Clearly, she's ungrateful. And why didn't she thank Ruben Studdard? He was the second winner of AI and really opened the door for her. This was also clearly a snub of the Dixie Chicks because she didn't thank Natalie's baby. She's an arrogant anorexic who doesn't know how to show emotion! I'm taking my Some Hearts cd back.

Yeah, she was on Idol. She got eliminated in the Hollywood round. She wasn't that good. She was also on Access Hollywood tonight and they asked her about it. I don't remember her saying she got eliminated, just that she left so she could be in the contest with Justin.

this is what MSN thought of Carrie's performance and her acceptance speech I disagree about her performance of desparado...I thought she did that really well....san antonio rose was total crap though...and yes, farmbot was in full glory accepting her trophy for BNA....I esp liked how she basically snatched the mic from natalie Cole's hand and then seemed to think "oh, I better hug her" afterward. wow shannon. since ur such an expert at finding incriminating posts, why dont u go find all the POSITIVE blogs/articles about carrie!??! those outnumber the negative ones 100/1!!!! I really don't like your attitude. You criticize carrie for being fake and phony, but you act like a FAKE CARRIE FAN! u are nothing but a hypocrite and a jerk; i have never seen anyone take so much pleasure in being lukewarm, biased, and snobby. u pretty much disgust me.

I never thought Avril pushed Kelly but it was funny to watch the drama that whole thing caused that's for sure. I still love Avril and have bought every single one of her CDs..before and since the infamous "push" LOL... seriously, I'm not even sure HOW to respond to a post like this... it's so full of hatred and viciousness over an opinon that differs from yours' I don't know how someone can take supporting an artist SO seriously that they'd say something like that to someone they don't even know.... I'm thinking I'll just leave it for the mods to figure out whether that's considered...oh I don't know....poster bashing? I don't think Carrie intentionally snubbed Imogen....not sure I'd have hugged her either...there might've been something living in that hat of hers' LOL.... I do think she came off as abrupt and somewhat "entitled" winning the BNA award. and the person who said I don't have to like Carrie to love her music has it exactly right! there are MANY artists that I happen to think are crappy people but they make amazing music so I buy it.... I happen to be a little more atune to what's going on with Carrie by virtue of the fact that I did watch her on Idol so by the nature of the show I follow her a little more closely than I would another type of artist.... I'll have opinions about her...sometimes they'll be good sometimes they'll be bad.... I'm seriously amused by all the whining about Carrie taking some knocks.... eta: bravo to the screen cap "snub" of Imogen though...hysterical stuff and I'm with Imaxx.... nomination for post of the year!

If she doesnt, she gets slammed. what do you want of the poor girl? And if she was rebutting the dixie chics speech- good for her!!!! its called free speech and the first amendment- the very rights the dixie chics and their fans claim to defend. So therefore- the 1st amendment certainly would apply to carrie too- if she was in fact rebutting the chics- that is her right. But we dont know anything as to what she really meant.
