Like I said in the other thread, the majority of music in 2006 was crappy. So, time for me to honor the few stand-out singles of '06!! Also, feel free to post your lists here =) Paris Hilton, "Stars Are Blind" - Can someone say INFECTUOUS?! It gets stuck in my head all the time. It's the perfect summer song. Paris Hilton, "Nothing In This World" - One of my top 3 singles of 2006 for sure. Too bad it flopped...it's an AMAZING song. Perfect pop, right there. Pink, "Who Knew" - Again, one of my top 3 singles of 2006 and it sucks that it flopped in the US. It's so emotional and Pink's vocals are amazing, as well as it being well written. Pink, "Stupid Girls" - This has been needed to be said for a long time. It's a very fun, dancey song and it's impossible to resist. JoJo, "Too Little Too Late" - Very few people seem to dislike this song. Jo has an amazing vocal range, and this song proves it. It's just a near perfect song. 30 Seconds To Mars, "The Kill" - The best rock song of 2006 BY FAR. Jared has an amazing voice and this song is very well layed out. Definitely a stand out. Ashlee Simpson, "Invisible" - It took me a while to like this song, but it grew on me. It proves Ashlee has a good voice, although it isn't the best. Jaded Era did an amazing song and Ashlee pur her own spin on it. Ashlee Simpson, "L.O.V.E." - It was released late 2005, but it still had effects in early '06. It's the perfect dance song of this year. Very fun and catchy. Hilary Duff, "Play With Fire" - Something about this song is amazing, and I'm not sure what. But it's very retro, and has a minor hint of rock in it. It's perfect to dance to. Kiley Dean, "Who I Am" - Kiley deserves much more attention than she gets, but this song is awesome. Kiley is an amazing singer. This song is the perfect balance of pop, rock, and r&b. So that is my list =) What are your's?

I could go on for a while.
Songs from Imogen Heap, KT Tunstall, Chantal Kreviazuk, Sarah Harmer, Dixie Chicks, Blue October, Zero 7, The Fray, Melissa McClelland.
Anyone who thinks music was bad this year obviously needs to go beyond what radio gives them and start listening to music for music's sake, not music made for the purpose of selling a product.

Anyone who thinks music was bad this year obviously needs to go beyond what radio gives them and start listening to music for music's sake, not music made for the purpose of selling a product. I completely agree. CHR Pop has been pretty much crap all year, but 2006 was filled with so much great music. It really has been a deep year for music with so many great releases. More people need to explore music outside of CHR pop to discover the better music. Some of the best songs this year I can think of off the top of my head include: TV On The Radio - Wolf Like Me Destroyer - Rubies Destroyer - European Oils Yo La Tengo - Pass The Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind Bonnie Prince Billy - Cursed Sleep Serena Maneesh - Drain Cosmetics Neko Case - Hold On, Hold On Neko Case - Star Witness Guillemots - Trains To Brazil Junior Boys - In The Morning

T.I. - "Why You Wanna"
The killer bassline sample just kills it, man. So much that it slowly climbed to number one on my charts. The flow and the beats are just perfectly blended into one awesome song!
Snow Patrol - "Chasing Cars"
Yeah I hated this at first and found it awfully boring. Now it has not only grown on me but I absolutely love the track. This is something I'd skip at the gym though..Anyway the lyrics are downright creative and infectiuos. Where is Coldplay now? Well Snow Patrol is just filling in that void that the industry needs for now..great music!
Pharrell - Number One
This is was also a slow riser on my charts to number one. Pharrell can sang, man. Absolutely! Hope to hear more from him!!
Rascal Flatts - What Hurts The Most Now I know why this song has been remade more than once. It's a great song, lyrically. You play any mix, and you'd still get goose bumps. Sorry I only cna speak for myself. These guys had a number one country album, crossover success, and multiple single on the country charts!

Favorite Songs of the Past Year without doing any research, and right off the top of my head, these are the ones that immediately pop into my head as favorites:
Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten Carrie Underwood - Jesus Take The Wheel Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats Kelly Clarkson - Because of You K. T. Tusntall - Black Horse and the Cherry Tree Shakira - Hips Don't Lie Anna Nalick - Breathe (technically released prior to this year but still one of the best songs I've heard this year as well) Montgomery Gentry - Something to Be Proud Of Jamie O'Neal - Somebody's Hero Terri Clark - She Didn't Have Time Sugarland - Something More
These are not necessarily in order, but just some of my very favorite songs from this year. Have a nice day everyone!
