I heard a rumor that John got nodules from his tour on his vocal chords, and that's why the music on this last album is so much mellower. I think that's kind of unfortunate, if true, because I love the way he belts out OP and SH from "Get Lifted" and I miss that sound on the new album. Hopefully he'll be feeling a little better by next time around and work on producing that kind of sound in a healthier way for himself. That does make sense. Sometimes singers try to cover things like that up with statements like "I'm taking a new artistic direction." Yea, you are, but why are you? Nodules. I love that style on his first CD. While I haven't heard this one yet, the songs do work...Heaven, Another Again. 1 million isn't bad at all considering that he hasn't had a strong single. His sales have been based on TV promotions, music videos and word-of-mouth and his critical/artistic credibility, so that's great! Now, if he had a hit single on a format, the sales of his debut would be a shoo-in for this CD.

I'm surprised his album is selling so well still w/o a current hit single.

So they've released
Save Room Heaven PDA Another Again...right?
Coming Home is the gem of the CD although it wouldn't do well. I don't really think there is a hit single if these 4 didn't work. Awesome CD though, it'll be in the running to be my pick for Album of the Year, come September 30th.

^ Yep.
Although I'm not sure what they're counting as the 4th single, since "Another Again" is doing good on the R&B charts, but a video for "Stereo" was released online.

I agree with ya. He's ata bout 1.1 million copies. His smash debut effort sold 1.8 million copies. That shows that if he had a stronger single amongst the 3/4, he would've been up to those numbers. However, it's just evidence that John Legend is going to be around to stay for a while.

Yeah....John Legend is a true talent. I saw him tour for this album in Boston and he was smooth, effortless and sounded great. I think he will continue to put out quality music. Also, has he been linked to any one in the press? I never hear about him dating anyone.

I wish John Legend belted a little more on this album, as on "So High" and "Ordinary People." But I've heard that's because he damaged his voice while touring, so I guess I can accept him resting it up a little bit. Hopefully eventually he'll be able to do some more though. These songs are nice and pretty, but don't quite pack the same punch as some on LGL.

Does he often tour a lot, or sing a lot of songs on his set? I don't think he toured that much, but I wouldn't be surprised if just belting SH and OP over and over again for a while did it to him. He has a very powerful voice. And I'm sure he sings a lot even when he's not on tour. It's weird the people who get nodes versus those who don't sometimes. But this is just a rumor, anyway, although it kind of makes sense. I was surprised when I heard, though, because when I saw him live he sounded amazing and not strained at all. Sidenote - I wonder if he smokes?

Exactly. At least, he sold Platinum. This CD was good, and so was the era. It could've been better, but looking at how most people are faring, it's phenomenal how well this CD era did. 1.1. million in this 2007 musical age ain't nothing to cry over.

John Legend has one of the best male voices in music. This album is good, but it could have been better.

I saw his video for "PDA" on VH1 Soul the other day and realized again how much I loved that song.
As much as some people hate that track becoming a single, it was actually the one that made me go get his album.

Worst and weirdest snub at the Grammys. Even without an album last year, he won 2 with another nomination. How the heck did his label think it was smart to submit for Pop Album rather than R&B? He would've been a lock to win IMO.

That is bad. I can't believe that he didn't even get nominated for a Grammy.
