Since the old one was moved, let's sum it up in this new one.
Jewel is finishing recordings of her next album which will be country and is being produced by John Rich, of Big & Rich. There is also talk of Atlantic putting out a Greatest Hits, but no further info on that. Jewel has not signed with a new label as far as we know.
These are the future concerts scheduled for Jewel:
Jun 9 2007 8:00P Springs Preserve Las Vegas, Nevada Jun 16 2007 8:00P MontBleu Resort Lake Tahoe, Nevada Jul 21 2007 8:00P Deer Valley Resort Park City, Utah Oct 18 2007 8:00P Temple Theatre Saginaw, Michigan Oct 19 2007 8:00P Casino Rama Entertainment Centre Orillia, Ontario Oct 20 2007 8:00P Rosemont Theatre Chicago, Illinois
It seems she might do a full tour in the fall, maybe to back the new album up, who knows.
Anyway, this is the news so far.

Billboard.com:
Jewel Out-Countrying John Rich On New Album May 23, 2007
by Gary Graff
Nobody's accusing John Rich of being lazy. He's got a new Big & Rich album, "Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace," coming out June 5. He co-produced Gretchen Wilson's new set, "One of the Boys," and helmed John Anderson's "Easy Money." His next trick? Jewel's new album.
"It's freakin' awesome, man -- she is probably one of the greatest American singer/songwriters we've ever had, in my opinion," Rich tells Billboard.com about the project, which they're "finishing up right now. I'd say you'll hear new music from Jewel by the end of the year. Every label in Nashville is talking to her now."
Rich says Jewel approached him about working together, telling him that she wanted "to make an album geared more towards country, 'cause I just love country. I said, 'Like what?' and she played me 15 songs in a day. I said, 'Yep, I would say that's Jewel country right there.' So we went in and made an album."
What makes the Jewel project distinct for Rich, however, is that he's serving solely as a producer rather than collaborating on the songs. "I tried to write with her," he explains, "and I couldn't even get to that spot in my head. She is such an intricately detailed, deep, multi-layered lyricist. It's mind-boggling, some of the stuff she writes. And her voice is just alien; nobody sounds like Jewel."

I'm so excited for this! She has always had a country flare in her music, especially on This Way and Goodbye Alice In Wonderland. A full-fledged country album will be perfect.
And I'm totally seeing her in Chicago. I've always wanted to see her live!

I'm looking forward to this as well. My favourite songs from 'This Way' were the country flavoured tracks. I think she'd do it quite well! I wonder if country will be as accepting to her as they were to the Wreckers?

Happy birthday Jewelllll.
My friend & I were singing Jewel songs pretty much all day because it's her birthday. :)
That's a nice thing to say. & YEY END OF THE YEAR.
That's so true.
She is quite amazing. I have no idea where Casino Rama Entertainment Centre Orillia is, but maybe I'll try to make it.

This is pretty cool. Check Jewel scaring her male competitors on Fast Cars Superstars: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I63AbbtrVsPS: It seems she's singing a new song, but you can hardly hear it...

Crown Jewel www.lvrj.com/neon/7900612.htmlSinger-songwriter opening Springs Preserve venue with solo acoustic show By MIKE WEATHERFORD REVIEW-JOURNAL who: Jewel Jewel is going country for her new album, saying her old albums sound country by today's standards. Jewel should feel right at home surrounded by trees and rocks at the Springs Preserve on Saturday. Soon, she hopes to feel equally at ease on the country music charts. The singer opens the Preserve's new amphitheater with a solo acoustic show, one of only a handful of summer dates interrupting work on her first country album. "The way I was raised is almost more country than a lot of the country people," she says. "I rode a horse to school and lived a really rural life." Jewel (Kilcher), 35, was born in Utah and raised mostly in Alaska by her father. Her rootsy upbringing and distinctive yodeling runs through most of the folk-flavored pop she has recorded since her big-selling 1995 breakthrough, "Pieces of You." "My whole career, people have been trying to get that out of my records and I guess I don't have to now," she says. "I've been wanting to do (a country album) my whole career, but my label would never let me. They were just horrified of it. But I don't have a label now, so I can kind of do what I want." Jewel already has recorded 10 songs with producer John Rich, of country party band Big & Rich. Some are tunes she started when she was 16. She hopes to come up with a radio-friendly song or two and have the whole album ready to deliver by the time she signs with a new record label. "I don't think it'll sound like a huge departure," she says. "I honestly think if I came around today, 'You Were Meant For Me' (and other) songs would be considered country songs. Because pop has changed more than I've changed. The pop format now is pretty much urban music. If you're a singer-songwriter, almost the only place left for you is country music right now." That latter distinction is important, she adds. Jewel won't be following the path of most reigning country queens, who choose from songs submitted by teams of writers. "Pieces of You" has sold 12 million copies since 1995. By contrast, last year's "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" was her first album that's yet to hit the gold mark of 500,000 units. But Jewel says she is as proud of the title track and some of the other songs "as I've ever felt of any song." However the album fares commercially, "I go to sleep at night and I feel like I'm getting better. I'm getting better at my craft and I take it seriously." And she's still serious about "0304," her big 2003 pop album that she says was misunderstood or unfairly savaged by music writers. "I think it's one of the best records I've ever written. I think it just got a bad rap because people either didn't listen or didn't really get the video (for "Intuition," which had her cavorting in lingerie in front of electronic dollar signs). And I don't know how you couldn't get it if you watched the whole thing. It was a satire. "I think the press just had a field day spinning it into something it wasn't," she adds. "I didn't take that into consideration. I'd been around already, gosh, almost 10 years by then, and I think the press didn't know what else to say about me." Jewel says that living in Texas and recording in Nashville keep her distanced from the cheesecake celebrity life of the "Intuition" video. (She and rodeo champ boyfriend Ty Murray do take part in ABC's new NASCAR reality show, "Fast Cars & Superstars," which started airing this week.) "Being a famous musician doesn't lend itself to curiosity and learning for most people. I think it usually leads to decadence and indulgence," she says. "I think that they stop living a strong internal life, and it shows in their writing. Which is why I've chosen never to live in Hollywood." She and Murray instead live on ranch land in Stephenville, Texas. Saturday's show at the new amphitheater is the singer's preferred method of traveling light. Even in full touring mode to support a new album, she will split the tour between band and solo shows. "I think my fans enjoy it more. I think you actually have a better time if you're in a small venue than you would with a band," she says. "A band's more like drinking, partying, talking, having that kind of experience with the music supplying a soundtrack to it. A solo show is really like going to a show. If they're good, you're going to get to know that person. It's like having a performer sing in your living room for you." when: 8 p.m. Saturday where: Springs Preserve amphitheater, 333 S. Valley View Blvd. tickets: $45 (474-4000)

Jewel Becomes Ambassador for Virgin Unite We're pleased to announce that Jewel has become the newest Ambassador for Virgin Unite! Her first mission is teaming up with Virgin Mobile USA, StandUp For Kids and YouthNoise to bring attention to the problem of youth homelessness. These efforts are part of The RE*Generation, a campaign to connect at-risk youth with young people who want to help and make a difference around the issue of homeless youth. As someone who was a homeless teen herself, this is an issue close to Jewel's heart. On June 19, she testified about her experiences as part of a hearing before the U.S. Congress on the crisis of youth homelessness, disconnected youth, and youth aging out of foster care. "I know first-hand what it's like to be young and without a roof over my head," said Jewel. "I'm blessed that my own story has had such a positive ending. But the same cannot be said for the over one million kids out there on the streets who are at risk and have no voice in society. I'm honored to join forces with those who are rallying to generate real awareness about this critical issue, and look toward solutions on both the national and community levels." Together with Virgin Unite and charitable partners StandUp For Kids and YouthNoise, Virgin Mobile USA organized a national task force to advocate for Congressional recognition of November as "National Homeless Youth Awareness Month," with support from The Children's Health Fund, The National Alliance to End Homelessness, and other like-minded organizations. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Sen. Martinez (R-FL) have jointly sponsored a bi-partisan resolution in the U.S. Senate and Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA), Rep. Jerry Weller (R-IL) and Rep. Mike Fergusson (R-NJ) are working to introduce a similar resolution in the House of Representatives. "This Resolution and designated month will go a long way toward building awareness of the more than one million children and teens that are without homes and in crisis," said Dan Schulman, CEO of Virgin Mobile USA. "We trust November will serve as a call to action for Americans to learn more about this vital issue, as well as find ways to support the organizations working to help homeless youth in their own communities." "Unfortunately, families are the fastest-growing segment of the homeless population. We have to bring attention to the number of youth alone on the streets and work to ensure our children have a roof over their heads," said Sen. Lautenberg. "Designating November 'National Homeless Youth Awareness Month' is an important first step to encourage local governments, businesses, community organizations and volunteers to work together to give at-risk youth a home." For more information about the problem of youth homelessness in the U.S., visit: www.standupforkids.org/ or youthnoise.comwww.virginunite.com/view_content.phtml?id=336^^ You can read Jewel's testimony there.

NEW BLOG. Jewelβs Summer Hey guys, I just wanted to send out a bulletin to say that I hope everyone's summer is going well. Ty and I have been having a good time. We have been spending some time on the ranch, soaking up the sun and taking care of our home. We also went on our first vacation in four years to the Bahamas. We stayed at the amazing Cove at Atlantis and had quite a time at Aura nightclub ***check out the pictures on my blog -- straight from my digital camera. It hasn't been all play, though. I have been traveling to Nashville to work on my country album, which I am soo excited to finish -hopefully in the next few months. I have been writing country songs since I was 16, so I think it's time I shared some of my favorites with you all!! Besides the album, we also had a TV show being filmed down here on the ranch. It's called, (none other than), "Ty Murray's Celebrity Bullriding Challenge" -- that is now airing on CMT. It's a great show and we have gotten a lot of great feedback on it, so if you haven't checked it out yet, tune in on Friday nights at 9 pm on CMT. You'll see me as well as some of Hollywood's notorious celebrities, a few very skilled athletes, cowboys, mean bulls and a ton of good times. I guess that's it for now. Thanks for supporting me and I look forward to getting back out on the road to play some new songs for you. I do have some October and November dates coming up - check out the below dates and come join me! Xo Jewel October 18th: SAGINAW, MI @ the Temple Theatre (*buy tix at http://www.templetheatre.com) October 19th: TORONTO @ the Casino Rama Entertainment Theatre (*tix at http://www.ticketmaster.com) October 20th: CHICAGO, IL @ the Rosemont Theatre (*tix at http://www.ticketmaster.com) November 14th: MESA, AZ @ the Mesa Arts Center (*tix at http://www.mesaartscenter.com) ...AND A BUNCH MORE COMING!!! New blog! blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...iendID=8022826Well, im on another airplane...going from DFW to NYC...headed to the premier of "We Own The Night"....why, u ask? Am i in the film or associated with it in ANY way? The answer would be no....i just happen to be in town for a show, and thought getting gussied up and seeing a flick might be fun....Ty is not so sure, but hes coming anyway....the show im in NYC for, and performing in, is on Wed night...it is a "guitar pull" and raising money for the country music hall of fame....what is a Guitar Pull u ask? It is when 4 or 5 artists sit in a row or semi circle on stage and takΓ© turns playing songs and telling stories...its fun...nothing planned, just impromptu- right up my proverbial alley....the other artists on the bill r Trisha Yearwood, John Rich (of Big and Rich- ive been producing my next album with him....hes very talented) Vince Gill and Patty Griffin...(some of u may remember patty from my Jewelstock show AGES ago....she came out and played, much to everyones delight- a strong-ass singer! And a strong ass writer...her cd's r good, and she also gets her songs covered by other artists...) guest artists will be Shawn Colvin and 'newcomer' Taylor Swift (u guys should check her out- shes great and i hear shes quite popular on myspace...) Anyway, im pretty excited to hear all these folks sing... The stewardess just gave me warm nuts...YUM! ....What else.....oh! my new cd is done...just gotta mix it...and name it...i SUCK SUCK SUCK at naming cd's....always have been! It is always the last thing to come to me- (usually under the pressure of many threats and deadlines)....i dont know what the heck to call it.... i was thinking of calling it "Home," cause the songs are about how i grew up in alaska, and the kind of music i grew up on like Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard, and also about where my home is now.....i dunno....i had so much fun making this one- i made it on my own (no label) just me and John goofing off... i payed for the whole thing, so i got to do whatever the heck i like (which ive always been able to do, but somehow not having a label has made it fun again). I have been hunting for labels in nashville- did i mention i LOVE nashville? I really could live there in a heartbeat...my kind of people...lots of writers...lots of live music and me and my friends get up and jam with local bands...lots of songwriters showcases...everyone is professional and friendly....and talented, so no need for all the posing and posturing....i hate that stuff....this will make at least the 3rd record ive made there....i cant wait for u guys to hear what ive been writing....maybe i will sneak u all some acoustic versions of songs- that way u can pass em around without it hurting anything! I was torn for a while about whether to even use a label again- but i still think radio is a good way to get records heard, and labels r still good at getting songs played at radio (especially in the country market) so i think i will takΓ© another stab at it....i feel so at home in the 'country format' its not really a change for me...i get to do stuff ive written my whole life- and its about the last place u can be a story teller... some of my favorite songs ive written over the years, like "Rosey and Mick" and "Perfectly Clear" will finally make a cd....and- there will even be a bit of yodeling...Ok, the choice for food is chicken salad or pizza....crap! So, what r u guys up to? Hows everyone doing? Hows work...family....kids? Wait- who r we liking in the presidential race? Who is ur favorite republican and your favorite democrat? Who do u guys believe? I like to try to pick one candidate from each party that i can believe at least somewhat- i always find myself wishing i could Frankenstein several candidates from several parties together to make one perfect leader....oh well... What else....i guess thats it...i will let u know how the show goes....im gonna eat some pizza....xxjewel

Exclusive: Jewel Goes Country With New Label Jewel November 02, 2007, 8:00 AM PT
Ken Tucker, Nashville Singer/songwriter Jewel has a new label and a new genre to boot. The artist has signed a multi-album deal with newly launched Nashville-based independent Valory Music Company and will pursue success on the country charts.
Jewel, who has cut five of her six albums in Nashville, says country has always been in her plans. "I've been wanting to do this record my whole career," she tells Billboard.com, "but my label was always scared of country music. I've always had country songs on my records."
Jewel, who previously recorded for Atlantic Records, has sold 14.8 million albums in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. She has scored seven top 10s on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart, including two No. 1s, "Foolish Games" and "You Were Meant for Me."
"If I had been discovered now, living in my car in San Diego, I think I would have been signed as a country act," she maintains. "As a singer/songwriter and as a storyteller, I'm old fashioned. I like a beginning middle and end to my songs. That's pretty much just country radio now."
Scott Borchetta, the president and CEO for Nashville-based independent Big Machine Records, is launching Valory. The label's name is a variation on country icon June Carter Cash's birth name, Valerie June Carter.
Along with Jewel, whose album was produced by Big & Rich's John Rich and is expected in the spring, Valory is also home to new artists Justin Moore and Jimmy Wayne.
Borchetta launched Big Machine in 2005. The label is home to rising star Taylor Swift, Trisha Yearwood and Jack Ingram, among others. It also handles promotion for Garth Brooks, whose current single "More Than A Memory" is one of four new tracks on his forthcoming "The Ultimate Hits" (Pearl).
Though she lives in Texas with bull-riding star boyfriend Ty Murray, Jewel has spent a good bit of time in Nashville over the last few years. Earlier this year she hosted the country reality show "Nashville Star" and she has made a number of appearances at Muzik Mafia events. She co-wrote and dueted with new artist Jason Michael Carroll on "No Good In Goodbye," which appears on his debut album, "Waitin' in the Country" (Arista Nashville). And she will be a presenter on the Country Music Association Awards show with Murray on Nov. 7.
"She's just one of the best singer/songwriters in any genre," Borchetta says, adding that a move to country is "a natural progression for her."
Overall, Jewel says fans won't hear a big difference in the new album. "It won't sound like a huge, crazy departure," she says. Among the songs due to make th cut is "Perfectly Clear," a longtime concert staple and fan favorite that she has never recorded. "It's sure enough a country song," she says.

Album title! Release month! Jewel Working on New Album with New Label Singer-songwriter Jewel is not only working on a brand new album with a new musical style but will be releasing it on a new record label too. The American artist is working on My Country, her sixth full-length disc, tentatively scheduled for a March 2008 release, which not only has a more country vibe but will come out on Valory Music Company, an independent label that was just recently launched in Nashville, Texas. Previously on Atlantic Records, Jewel told Billboard.com that she always wanted to do a country record and that the genre already was present in her previous material. My Country was produced by John Rich, and at least one confirmed song title is "Perfectly Clear". Jewel's last effort was 2006's Goodbye Alice in Wonderland. Teehee, the title is cute.
March is so soon! I hope she doesn't push it back - that'd mean we should hear a single shortly after Christmas. Hopefully her label will try to push it on country radio. I think that hosting gig she had last year gave her decent exposure.

That's exciting! I generally like Jewel's country flavoured songs so I'm definitely somewhat looking forward to this. 'Goodbye Alice In Wonderland' left me alittle disinterested in Jewel though so while I'm looking forward, I'm not really super excited. Still good to know tho!

New Myspace blog! So excited about Cowboy Waltz!!! It's one of my total favorites!!!
On the plane, leaving Las Vegas...
Hello! Leaving Las Vegas....been there 2 whole weeks for the PBR World Finals...our friend Justin McBride won the world, so we were excited. I went to nashville a couple days ago and did a press conference about signing to a new label- I'm on a new little label called Valory, and I'm pretty excited....the label heads name is Scott Borchetta, and I really hit it off with him. I had recorded a country record on my own months ago, and was just looking around to see if there was a label I'd fit with, but all the ones I met with wanted my album to be more pop! No one was willing to take a stand and say they like the songs I wrote, saying nothing sounded "radio" enough, so I figured I'd just skip a label, and skip radio and put my cd out all on my own and make music I like- but then I met Scott, and he listened to what I had done and liked the sames songs I liked and didn't want me to change for radio, so we decided to partner up and take a stab at a record label and radio release....so, I've either made a great decision or a really dumb one, and only time will tell!
I like my new record- some songs are old- I wrote "Perfectly Clear" and "Cowboy Waltz" when I was 18 or so, and they were always too country, I was told, to fit on a cd, and I'm also excited about some of the new ones I wrote for the album like "I Do" and "Thump Thump"..maybe I will post some lyrics so u guys can get a sneak peak....I'm headed to Nashville again right now to present at the CMA's- so I guess u can see me there! I will be in touch....xxjewel

www.okmagazine.com/news/view/2560Confirmed title! You can hear a snippet of the possible 1st single here: wkrn.com/nashville/news/jewel-signs-with-country-record-label/126776.htm#topWhat do you guys think? Is it too different for Jewel?? IMO it sounds very Jewel. The structure reminds of Again and Again, but a little better. I really like Jewel's voice on it, it sounds strong, I much prefer it than the baby girl voice she uses in Again and Again. Even though I was expecting a banging first single, I think I Do is very radio friendly but would work better as a 2nd or 3rd single. Well, let's wait and see. This era has me excited!!
