Have you guys heard one of the new songs, Love is a Garden, yet? It's really good and reminds me a lot of classic Jewel. I think this sounds like a great 2nd single. Can't wait to listen to the album version. youtube.com/watch?v=U9F_25i-AxY

I don't like that dress. Is it just me, or she's been looking rather old lately? Anyway, I'm gonna wait till the full album leaks. To be honest, I'm underwhelmed by "Stronger Woman", and I hate myself for that.

oh dont hate urself....i felt exactly the same way about stronger woman. But ive got to let go of the old folky jewel...and just embrace what she is doing now. She is definitely not one of my fav artists like she was before and she doesnt push the envelope at all in terms of lyrics - stronger woman would make even feminists cringe in its cliche - but she is still uber talented and i'll pick up any album she releases

I agree that her lyrics have been better. A couple of gems were found on Alice, but most of the time they paled compared to her debut's, for instance.

Billboard:
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Jewel has been a pop chart fixture since 1995, but organically rooted, making her move to country a convincing transition. Her seventh album and first full-length country project, "Perfectly Clear," is not only persuasive, but down-home, old-school country. It's not just the addition of steel guitar that sells Jewel's passage, but the whole of her delivery and lyrical themes. Potential hits abound: Best are the searching, chug-along "I Do"; remorseful ballad "Everything Reminds Me of You"; the uptempo, playful "Rosey and Mick," about a long-term imperfect relationship; and the mannered "Anyone but You," which sounds like a Tammy Wynette classic. Jewel continues to surprise and inspire.

Meh, that's okay I guess.
I don't know how she managed 82k last time, with a lead single that didn't do as well as Stronger Woman.

Well, CD sales were up a lot more back then. I think that has something to do with it.

This CD is pleasant enough. Nothing outstanding, but enjoyable. My favorites as of now are "Anyone But You", "Till It Feels Like Cheating", and "Love Is Garden".

Love this album. Love is a Garden is my favorite song here and I think it could make a pretty good single.
I read that the album and the song Perfectly Clear was originally s'posed to be titled Studies in Love #12...is it true?

Not quite. Perfectly Clear is a very old song and has always been known as Studies In Love #12 (Jewel herself used to call it this way). For this album, she decided to finally name the song and also used it to title the CD.

Jun 6, 3:37 PM EDT RIAA honors Jewel for 18 million in US album sales
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Jewel has been honored by the Recording Industry Association of America with a career milestone plaque commemorating sales of more than 18 million albums in the U.S.
Jenny Alves, RIAA's coordinator of artist industry relations, surprised the 34-year-old singer Thursday as she prepared to sign autographs at the Country Music Association festival.
"This is awesome. Thank you so much," said the singer, who also was scheduled to perform at the festival.
Jewel has sold 27 million albums worldwide since her 1995 debut.

Hmmm... if I were to rank her albums, they'd go:
1. This Way 2. Pieces Of You 3. 0304 4. Spirit 5. Perfectly Clear 6. Goodbye Alice In Wonderland
But I've only listened to the new one once so far so I won't finalize that list just yet. And as for GAIW, I just never got into that album but I really did try. It did nothing for me aside from a few tracks that I burnt out really quickly on.

This is my list:
1. This Way 2. Spirit 3. Pieces Of You 4. 0304 5. Perfectly Clear 6. Goodbye Alice In Wonderland
For some reason, I really love "Spirit". The first half is top notch, IMO. And I really tried to love GAIW too, but I never got into it, it's pretty much just like PC, a pleasant but slighty dull listen.
