She needs a new cover. Aside from looking so similar to Mariah's cover, her expression is embarrassing and it's embarrassing that she's trying to be so stylish in the way that isn't her with those flaring pants and that half open blouse.

The cover is crazy.. but there's something about it that I like. It's different, and she's definitely 'taking a chance' with it. Props to her!
It's not the cover that really matters anyway.. it's the music. John Shanks has produced some great tracks, and some bad crap. I'm hoping the former is true for the new Celine single.

That Mariah cover story is getting so tired, Mariah stole that look from a series of Ads Brooke Shields done with Calvin Klein in the late 80s. Almost NO covers OR anything for that matter these days are "original" and so what>! I think the picture on the cover is really nice, and I think she looks great!

BTW ThumbAx if you followed her style over the years (which I am pretty sure you haven't) you would see that she wears flared pants alot. I have also seen her and tops like that several times before this shoot. I hate that just because of a shoot people try to say someone is trying to be something their not. NOONE knows her, and so they have no freaking clue what her style is. BTW Styles can change people, you don't see many people still rocking mullets do you? *rollseyes*

This is a bit off topic, but I was hoping someone knew in the Celine thread... I remember listening to the radio when 'My Heart Will Go On', and my station always played an upbeat sounding version of the song, but it wasn't a dance mix I don't think.. it sounded like a new mix that was just sped up a little bit and put to more upbeat music.. anyone know what I'm talking about or know anything?

My grandma will be skeptical about buying Tranline's new album if the cover looks like that.

i have never been excited for a celine album... however, about 2 years ago i purchased A New Day... and was so pleased. i will definately be picking this up it's first week.
and the first single being a cover song does stink; however, it seems like that song could be PERFECT for celine's voice. i'm really excited to hear Alone though.

Well one thing about Celine is when she covers songs, she makes them her own. Just look at her history. If You Asked Me To, The Power of Love, It's All Coming Back to Me Now, All By Myself, I Drove All Night. I don't mind her doing covers because 99% of the time they are beyond amazing.

Taking Chances: this song is abso-freakin-lutely fantastic! Has a great acoustic intro, fantastic vocals by Celine and them speeds up a bit with great vocals towards the end. Very radio friendly and a really great song, I think everyone will love it! Everyone was talking about it, I think it was the favorite.
Alone: YES THE HEART COVER. I have to be honest I love this freaking song, so I was super freakin excited to see the title and hoped it would be the same song. When the intro started, I sure knew. I have to say it's pretty much a copycat of the original, vocal wise. Celine sung it the same as Ann Wilson did, including the adlibs and everything. Celine sounded good, but I think it was a bit stale. The middle adlib scream thing wasn't as good, but the ending was good! A bit mechanical and I like the original better I think. Still a good one!
Shadow of Love: It has a very unique arrangement! Definitely has a rocky feel to it; uptempo with lots of background vocals I think. Also a harder sounding chorus, it was different but really good!
A Song for You: Definitely major piano ballad. She sounds very emotional singing it and it honestly is pretty boring. She also sounds a bit nasal for my liking. Not my favorite to be honest, but I'd have to hear it a few times.
This Time: Fantastic arrangement!! Above average as far as songs go. Has a bit of a dark sound to it. Major guitars in the chorus and she sounds kinda angry singing it but it's great!
Surprise, Surprise: Great guitar! Sounded a bit cheesy at first, and she sings prett low during the first part, but it ends great and the chorus is great! I liked this one a lot!
Can't Fight the Feeling: Very low singing and very different! She sings with some major attitude, and it is pure ROCK. Seriously it's not like any other song she's done, it's very hard for her. I liked it after the second listen, it's really different!
Let me Be Your Soldier: Lyrics are cheesy if you ask me. Has a dark sound and army drums in the background the whole time. Rat-tat-tat kinda sound, hard to explain. Wasn't my favorite.
Eyes On Me: Crazy india guitar or something and this song has a MAJOR BEAT! Unlike any beat you've ever heard and this song kicks some serious butt! Everyone's gonna go crazy for this one. If Timbaland did produce anything on the album, it's this song. This song seriously rocks! She sings so awesome.
My Love: Very average and pretty much goes nowhere. some good piano arrangment though.
World to Believe In: AMAZING ballad. Fantastic lyrics and amazing vocals from Celine. This will be a popular one, it's gorgeous!
Right Next to the Right One: This song sounds weird as hell honestly. It has some sort of like ukelele as the main instrument or banjo or something. I didn't like very much, but it's very unique! I don't like the lyrics.
Just Fade Away: At first it sounds like The Show Must Go On with some really heavy violin playing! Sounds very dark and has a heavy chorus, but sounds great! I loved it!
That's Just the Woman in Me: THIS IS THE SONG YOU WILL WAIT FOR. This is the most blues song she's ever done, and has a classic blues arrangement. Her voice is so bluesy and scratchy at times I thought it would give out! It's astounding the way she sings it and she's never sounded like this before EVER. Fans will go crazy for this one I think! It's just freaking incredible. Possibly the best song on the album with a great high wail at the end.

i'm very excited to hear Taking Chances.
it sounds like Alone might be a bit like her cover of At Last. it just sort of sat there, didn't go one way or the other, but was good enough for a passing grade.

The-Dream a.k.a. Terius Nash a.ka. the guy who wrote "Umbrella" for Rihanna did an interview with my friend and he bragged about this song he wrote for Celine called "Skies of L.A.".

She's worked with urban artists before. Worked with Prince, Diana King, Brownstone, R Kelly just to name a few.

0I've read that the week before the album drops Alicia Key's new album drops, and the week after, a new Mariah album drops- not sure if it's all true, but I know Britney's new album comes out at the same time. as 'Taking Chances'. So I'm wondering whose gonna be #1, Dion or Spears?
Does any one have 'In The Zone's' opening sales? I know the album debuted at #1 then went 3,7,10,13. ANDHC opened with 527,000 sales with a 50% drop the next week with 263,000 to land at #2. OH on the other hand opened at #2 with sales of 432,000 a 18% drop compared to ANDHC. OH fell to #4 the next week with sales of 166,000. I'm thinking that this albums has more hype than OH so will probably open similar to ANDHC.
To me the importance of this is, if Dion beats Spears, it will be the talk of the town. I can see DJ's saying poor Spears got beat by little old Celine. And thus I'm all for Celine!

It would be very prospectful if Celine beat Britney for the #1 spot. I don't see it happening though.
