I had made a thread about this previously, but I searched and searched and could not find it. Probably got lost during the restructuring.
Anyway, new album scheduled for October or November. 2 songs produced by Ben Moody were recorded in May, and many other artists are expected to contribute including Ne-Yo, John Shanks, R Kelly, Babyface, and the usual Celine team.
R Kelly has reportedly submitted 2 songs for Celine.
David Stewart of Eurythmics also produced a song for her, which was supposively recorded this month. Not too far off considering Celine recorded a duet for Annie Lennox's new album.
I Knew I Loved You, the song Celine performed at the Oscars is scheduled to be on the album.

Cool. I love Celine and am excited about several of those names. I hope R. Kelly's contributions don't make the album though, cause I can't stand him and refuse to buy any album he collaborates on.

Looking forward to this...and interesting mix of producers. I think Timbaland is also contributing.

Looking forward to this...and interesting mix of producers. I think Timbaland is also contributing. Nelly Furtado said in an interview that Timbaland had approached Celine to be on his Shock Value album, but the collab never happened due to their conflicting schedules.

Coming attractions: Dion channels cool, fiesty 'Woman'
By Elysa Gardner, Steve Jones and Gary Strauss , USA TODAY Music
Dion develops an edge?
With A New Day ..., Celine Dion's blockbuster Vegas show, closing on Dec. 15, the Canadian crooner is set to unveil a new CD and, she suggests, a newly feisty approach.
Due Nov. 13, The Woman in Me will be Dion's first studio album since 2003's One Heart. Her collaborators on Woman include producers and songwriters noted for their work with more rock-oriented artists, among them Linda Perry (Pink, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera), ex-Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody and Dave Stewart, as well as John Shanks, Kara DioGuardi, Kristian Lundin and Anders Bagge and Peer Astrom.
"I think this album represents a positive evolution in my career," Dion says. "I'm feeling strong, maybe a little gutsier than in the past, and just as passionate about music and life as I ever was."

Let's see if she has good material. Based on what's known so far, it looks like she'll be doing R&B flavoured ballads for the new album. I doubt I'll like it then.

Sorry, Shania has nothing on Celine Dion. Maybe better pop songs but voice? Celine kills. I'm looking forward to see what she comes up with, especially if the stuff has a 'rock' edge.

I'm interested in this. I hope she updates her style though. No more sappy cliche ridden ballads and unmemorable uptempo tunes. like always though, her voice is glory to be listened to.

I doubt I'll be buying this.. but I'll wait and see.
I love her voice, and I love her as a person (at least from what I can see from her stage and television appearances). I love that she is passionate (see the Larry King Katrina interview) and I love that she doesn't care to make a fool of herself by being such a dork (see any of her live performances).

No way she can update her style, she's has always been old,her voice can only sing a type of music, when she tries something different,it turns out HORRIBLE...Her voice is holding well, but this is not enough...

Dion finds new name for CD Celine Dion. John Kennedy, canada.com Published: Tuesday, August 21, 2007
Celine Dion’s new album won’t take its name from Shania Twain’s 1995 smash hit The Woman in Me after all.
The Quebec singer’s first English CD in three years, due out Nov. 13, will be titled Taking Chances, according to a select group of fans who got a preview in Las Vegas on Monday night.
And she does just that on the album, getting a bit bluesy and rocking out when she’s not belting out her usual chest-pounding ballads.
Last week, Dion told USA Today the album would be called The Woman in Me, sparking a Celine vs. Shania debate online.
"I think this album represents a positive evolution in my career," Dion said of her album. "I’m feeling strong, maybe a little gutsier than in the past, and just as passionate about music and life as I ever was."
On the new CD, Dion ventures into rock territory with a cover version of Heart’s "Alone" and guitar-driven tracks titled "This Time," "Shadow of Love" and "Can’t Fight the Feeling."
She sings the blues on "That’s Just the Woman in Me," showing off the rawness of her normally perfect voice.
And while the vocals are pure Dion, some of the arrangements are decidedly different. "Let Me Be Your Soldier" features military-style drums; "Right Next to the Right One" has the sound of folk instruments; and "Eyes On Me" is a beat-heavy track with a touch of Bollywood.
The singer has included several ballads, including "A Song for You" and "World to Believe In." In addition to the title track, there’s also "Just Fade Away," "My Love," and "Surprise, Surprise."

Celine might be able to pull this off, if she picks a more up-beat fast song as the first single, I just don't see POP playing anything slow by her. And with the AC format quickly changing, I hope AC will still embrace her- if not shes out of luck.
A hot video would help, to bad Timbaland and Celine didn't do a duet together- that would fly up the charts.
I'm excited to see how it all turns out, she might just get another hit.
