I don't understand how X-Factor works voting wise. Can someone explain it? How do they find out right away who goes through?

At the early stages, there's a public vote to determine the 2 acts with the lowest number of public votes. The judges then vote who they want to return next week. When it gets down to the last few, there is no judge decision it is purely on the number of votes each act receives. Therefore Leona and Ray got the highest number of votes. Here's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"..stunning www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRqj7v8PF7QAnd also her fantastic version of "I Have Nothing" www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKvZ9UEQP64

I guess I'm the only one who thought her voice was incredibly shaky throughout "Rainbow." She also missed a couple of notes. Her vibrato is ridiculous and she needs to learn how to control it pronto.
She'll never break big in the US, but she could be huge overseas.

reviews on youtube seem to be raving about the performance, esp USA viewers, so hope she can cross over...fingers crossed anyways :) here's her vfirst audition...even paula abdul was there (even tho she said nothing!!) and didn't like sharon osbournes Mariah comment (because to me Mariah ca do no wrong!!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeCc_pyJBcE

I loved, absolutely LOVED "I Have Nothing."
I thought the SOTR was alright. It's definitely not as good as some people are making it out to be IMO. The arrangement was just really weird...

yeah, OTR wasn't stunning as some of her performances have been.... i dont get why simon is so all about her. standing ovation after EVERY performance. i can name atleast 5 A.I. performances that were better than that that he didn't give that kind of praise to. anyways... i agree that her voice is so thin. she should really work on her lower register. i'm sorta over her already. :(

I think her voice is great...obviously leagues away from Mariah's standards (i.e range and control), but I would say she could hold her own against Xtina.

"Rainbow" put me to sleep. The arrangement was horrible. Shayne Ward's version was SO much better.
However, "I have nothing" was excellent. She really needs to work on her performance skills though. The judges keep saying "confidence, confidence" but it's more than that. She's just boring.

I think she's just shy to be honest! She seems very quietly spoken, but is very refreshing for someone to get up on National TV and sing like that when they have issues with their confidence. Agree though that she does need to work on her performances...maybe the Xfactor tour will help with that. If it were just her, I would get ticktes!! :)

Why you say that? There are many different ways she could sing OHN. Mariah's isn't the only approach to take. She should come up with a little different twist on it and show that she can be creative vocally. I'm anxious to see what she comes up with. :)

Leona sang I will always love you, All by myself and Million love songs tonight, and was amazing as per usual. As Sharon said if she doesn't win it's a travesty. If you're from the UK, vote Leona!!!!!!!

Well done Leona! A well deserved winner. The single's already sold 20,00 copies on downloads according to Simon and he basically said that she is signed with Clive Davis's J records in America.

I hated her version of Rainbow too. Please don't mess around with a classic like that.
She really does look boring and bored up there.

i've gotta listen to this girl. i've heard the hype. what performances do you recommend? I have to admit that i'm not necessarily the biggest on her just by how hyped she's been, and how that other guy was screwed from the beginning for being forced to sing A Moment Like This. it seems like the competition was fixed for Leona from the beginning, though maybe once I listen to her it'll get it. I'll believe Clive signs her when I see it. as it is, the X-Factor winners haven't mostly made it past the first single and a debut album filled with ballads that quickly dissapears. Leona might be talented, but Shayne Ward also had potential to be successful before Simon and BMG pissed it away. ahh, the cheap-ass single cover. wtf? the horrible photoshopping of her head and the triangle in front of her? and what's up with the random white rectangle?

Yes. Thankfully, they changed the arrangement a little bit. It's okay. I like her high notes but the rest seems less impressive, at least in the few performances I looked up. "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" is good.
