I don't get why everyone thinks "Carnivale Ride" will have 5 singles. I mean "Some Hearts" didn't and it was still selling incrediblely well. Same with Rascal Flatts and most country artists who only release 4 singles. A few do end up releasing 5 singles off of an album so it could happen with this album but is no way a guarentee.

^i agree that it is not written in stone that she is gonna release 5 singles from this CD but i think they need to make up for not releasing 2-3 more singles from the AMAZING CD that "Some Hearts" was. i would have released "Starts With Goodbye" and "That's Where It Is" as those were 2 of my favorite 5 off the album. and as for this album i hoped they released LN, JAD, and FOTF as those are my 3 favorites on the CD. so i am hoping for 5 off this album because i truly think they need at least 5 singles from this album. now i wouldnt be surprised if they only went 4 but i think it would be a huge mistake not releasing JAD or FOTF as i believe both of those will be huge along with LN.

This was just sent out to radio via Play MPE (and by "just," I mean within the last 15-20 minutes). Goes for adds April 7th, although I'm sure it will be close to the top 20 by then. Thanks, rowdawg! I'll edit my first post to incorporate the info. So I guess they're not trying to make a run at/build on reaching Faith's record of most weeks at #1. A-AG could still have gotten more weeks at the top, but with this announcement and release, LN will take away its spins now. I can't help but think there's going to be 5 singles too. I'm at work and don't have my trusty charts with me, but is this CR's 21st week of release? It's already on the 3rd single and they're not even using up the 20-week chart life for singles. At this rate, they could release the 4th single in late July and have the album era done before or soon after CR's first-year anniversary. Too fast and that would be too big of a gap between the 2nd and 3rd album.

yes i completely agree! i think they could possibly go 6-7 singles from this album (a la Kenny Chesney) because there are so many good songs that would definitely be top 5 hits, i think "Carnival Ride" is much more loaded with potential hits than "Some Hearts". SH had "Thats Where It Is" "Starts With Goodbye" "Were Young And Beautiful" and "I Aint In Checotah Anymore" that would have been big hits (although i wasnt crazy about IAICA). TNB (LGO), LL, IJCLAL, WYR were all decent songs but nothing i could see doing extremely well.
on "Carnival Ride" they could release "Just A Dream", "Flat On The Floor", "Twisted", "You Won't Find This", "Wheel Of The World", "Get Out Of This Town", "Crazy Dreams", and "I Know You Won't" that i now believe would all be a top 5 hit and most of them a #1 hit. the only 2 i wouldnt bet money on going into the top 5 would be "The More Boys I Meet", and "I Told You So".
so i think "Carnival Ride" is a much better album as a whole than "Some Hearts" and that is why they could release many more singles from CR. with that said "Before He Cheats" and "Jesus Take The Wheel" remain my 2 favorite Carrie songs followed closely by "JAD" and "LN"

^but it was sent to radio today. that means that a lot of radio stations will start playing it to try and get more listeners to hear a new Carrie Underwood song. radio will jump on this and it should have a big gain on Mediabase within the next few days. i am sure AAG will still be getting a lot of plays but i dont know if it is enough to keep it at #1. it might be and i hope so!

After reading the lyrics, I'm extremely shocked that no one has mentioned Alan Jackson!
Now THAT is a rip off.

Not sure what the fascination with this song is (well, it's Carrie so I guess I can't be surprised), because I don't care for it at all. I really don't think this type of song suits her very well (I think BHC may end up being the exception, not the rule). But I guess if her fan base loves it, then that's all that matters, because it's going to #1 no matter what. Personally, I was hoping for You Won't Find This or Twisted, I really like both of those songs.

No offense, leila, but why would you use the absolute MOST DIFFICULT font color to read to post the lyrics to this song??

This might be one of the most obvious No. 1's in the history of time. ;) This will be huge.

No offense, leila, but why would you use the absolute MOST DIFFICULT font color to read to post the lyrics to this song?? To give people the option of whether they want to read the lyrics or not. Especially with a song like this, with the twist at the end. It's a spoiler... thus, the "spoil, if you wish" warning. Those who want to read just highlight the text.

This proves that this album HAS to go 5 singles deep. I love Some Hearts, but what could've been the surefire #5 hit from it? My personal favorite, I Ain't In Checotah Anymore, might not have had the appeal as the other 4 singles. Same with Young and Beautiful. Here, we have Just a Dream next and Flat on the Floor 5th. If this album doesn't go 5 deep, it'll be a travesty. I'm just so happy we're getting Last Name third. I've ALWAYS thought of it as this albums Before He Cheats with Carrie's aggressive side. I PRAY we get an amazing video that depicts the story in the song and not another "playing with my band" video or something like that.

I'm not that happy with this choice, to be honest. Everything seems painstakingly calculated to ensure this song becomes BHC of CR. And I thought Flat on the Floor is clearly the superior uptempo.
And Just A Dream better be released after this. Preferably in August before the Grammys cutoff date.

I'm inclined to think that five singles from this superb CD are a foregone conclusion, and that her next CD will come out in 2009.
Five singles from a single CD is not all that unusual, and especially when such a CD is loaded with potential hit singles.
She is also a mortal lock to obliterate Faith Hill's record for most weeks at #1 over the past twenty years.

No, not yet... as long as AAG has legs, it's still going to be getting it's share of spins. The adds date indeed is nearly a month away, and I don't expect LN to gain significantly until AAG starts to slide - so far it isn't falling. Of course, Carrie's good at proving most of us wrong with how she continues to always exceed even our wildest expectations, so who knows? :)

I just heard she won't be playing the girl in the song for the video and she will just be narrating because she doesn't want her fans to get the wrong impression of her. ???
This is annoying the daylights out of me. She can sing about it, but can't depict on the screen acting? Or does she just not have the time for a full video shoot?

As far as I can tell I think it is the fact that she doesn't want to drink or kiss a guy in a video. She wouldn't even kiss the guy in the "Ever, Ever After" music video. In the "Before He Cheats" video you don't see her actually swinging the bat and bashing the car or taking the key to the door. I think she is fine singing about it but not fine with acting it out.

Yeah I've heard both, that she's too busy and that she has too high or 'morals'. I love Carrie to death, but if she can talk the talk in songs, she should have the backbone to walk the walk in the videos. Regardless, I'm sure Last Name will be an AMAZING video given she actually changes directors finally. ;;)

Thanks.

I have no problem with her just singing and leaving the acting to actors. For whatever her reasons...
