aw man this isnt fair!! alicia is my second favorite female and kelly is my third!!!
i have to BARELY give this to alicia. She is utterly fantastic. I could die listening to her, and I would enjoy my death lol. Kelly is great as well, but she can yell alot more than I would like. But she gives great performances! :)

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly. I like these pairings you're doing though, they're interesting.

Kelly, I don't know if it's just me but I think Alicia's voice has gone down and it really showed on that screeching mess called "No One"

Kelly. I've yet to hear a genre of music Kelly can't sing and totally own.
Alicia is overrated IMO.

Kelly...both of their voices are pretty wrecked lately, though.

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly. I like these pairings you're doing though, they're interesting. Thanks. Yeah I didn't want the usual comparings like Carrie vs Kelly or Mariah vs Celine, Mariah vs Whitney etc. I thought these were much more interesting topics!

Kelly...both of their voices are pretty wrecked lately, though. Yeah? I was of the mindset that Kelly's voice was stronger place than it has been for two years. Check it - www.dailymotion.com/video/x50fpa_up-to-the-mountain-kelly-clarkson-m_musicThere's a whole mess of other performances from the Reba/Kelly tour, where she sounds as strong as she ever has. At the start of the MD era, I'd have backed you up, but not anymore.

This is such an easy poll for me:
Range= Kelly (not even a competition as Alicia's rangeis quite limited) Power= Kelly (Alicia isn't exactly known for her belting) Melisma/Soul= TIE (Both gals are dripping in soul and Alicia sure has some smooth jams) Pitch= Kelly (Alicia's live singing is often off-pitch, Kelly is quite consistent) Tone= Kelly (Alicia often whines with higher notes because of her limited range and does not have much of a head/falsetto voice either) Clarity= Kelly by a small margin (Alicia's voice is quite scatchy consistently but Kelly sure has had her moments of rasp in the past) Versatility= Kelly is THE most versatile contemporary female vocalist without question IMO Performer= Alicia barely
Overall: Kelly by a HUGE margin.

Kelly, she has the bigger range & better tone, although both of them has made their voices raspy possibly from oversinging/screaming.

Alicia Keys wins this poll easily. It would have been a much closer battle if Alicia was against Kelly Rowland or Kelly Osbourne. Those Kellys are seriously talented! Clarkson is a wreck these days.

Ok, WOW it definitely wouldn't have been closer with Rowland or Osbourne. Alicia EASILY blows BOTH of them away in the vocal department.

Kelly by far. Alicia really isn't a good singer. Plenty of chicks could outsing her. Though she makes up for it in other talents.

I've had the pleasure of seeing both in concert, and both sound amazingly better live than they do on television, for some odd reason. I think on record Kelly sounds better (especially on the latest - I don't think Alicia sounds great on As I Am) and live they are about equal, so I put Kelly.

Alicia is more soulful, but overall I think Kelly just has the better vocal.

Kelly has a much better voice, and is a somewhat better singer. Alicia is my fave though. Her music is miles more consistent (and better).

I think Kelly is a better singer(when she isn't yelling), but Alicia is a better songwriter and performer by a mile.

I think Kelly is a better singer(when she isn't yelling), but Alicia is a better songwriter and performer by a mile. I have to disagree with the better songwriter thing. If you took a kelly song and an alicia song and compared them side by side Kelly's songs, lyrically, are much more profound and meaningful. I think Alicia has, for whatever reason, been labeled this prolific songwriter and IMO her lyrics are nonsensical if you strip away the music and the melody. Compare Alicia's biggest hit to a song that wasn't even released from My December: Fallin: Sometimes I love ya Somtimes you make me blue Sometimes I feel good At times I feel used Lovin you darlin makes me so confused maybe: I don't want to be tough And I don't want to be proud I don't need to be fixed and I certainly don't need to be found I'm not lost I need to be loved I just need to be loved it's just my opinion of course but I find Alicia to be greatly overated as both a singer and a songwriter... I can't speak about her performances because all I've ever seen her do is sit behind the piano on television.

Vocally (since that's the point of the poll), I went for Alicia

Neither one really does anything for me, but I'll go with Alicia Keys on this one. At least with Alicia, her voice is more soothing if you're wanting something relaxing to listen to.
