This was sent out to radio today, and it goes for adds on June 16th. You can hear it on their myspace. I said yesterday that I liked The Lost Trailers' version better, but this version is growing on me. It has a refreshing sound, and I think it has a chance to do something at radio. This is from last Friday's Country Aircheck: More Powers To You: Live Nation Artists' groundbreaking deals with established artists Madonna, U2 and Jay Z have now been extended to the country market, as the first-ever new artist signing for the concert behemoth is the Georgia-based Zac Brown Band. Long-tenured Nashville promotion executive Michael Powers (formerly of UMG/Nashville and Universal South) and veteran promoter Jeff Solima will oversee radio promotions for the project, with debut single "Chicken Fried" delivered to radio Monday (5/12) with a June 16 impact date. Keith Stegall is producing ZBB's forthcoming album. Additionally, promotion vets Dave Kirth (Country Thunder, KTOM/Monterey) and Tony Morreale (Show Dog, BNA) will be working with Powers on the launch. Powers is working out of the Big Picture Entertainment offices in Nashville, and can be reached at 615-297-6935 or here. Solima can be reached at 615-329-8464 or here. Kirth: 916-351-1715 or here; Morreale: 615-260-6853 or here. Programmers may remember the single as the erstwhile debut for BNA's The Lost Trailers, which was pulled by the label in March 2006. According to Powers, Zac Brown allowed his friends The Lost Trailers to record it, but always intended "Chicken Fried" to be one of his own single releases.

Wow. I surprisingly DON'T like this. :) At least, not nearly as much as the Lost Trailers's version. Yay for sticking with my resentment!

I'm glad this is doing relatively well; it's one of my top 10 favorite singles right now. Since it only took 6 weeks to make the top 40, I think there's a chance it could go top 20.

I gotta say that this new album is outstanding! GREAT harmonies that are almost "throwback" to traditional Country/Southern Rock in some areas. This album has a little something for everyone and I give it a big two thumbs up.

I'm really liking this. Only heard it once and I already know most of the lyrics. Good stuff; very laid back and acoustic, it fits the lyrics perfectly. There're, like, 40 million "life is good" songs, but if you really relax it like this, it makes it sound like you actually believe what you're singing.

I heard this song on the radio yesterday and I must say I'm really starting to like it. Very fun and catchy song for the summer. It's always nice to hear something a little different on the radio and this definately qualifies. I wish this would be a huge hit for the Zac Brown Band. :)

i agree dustin, i bought the album last year from CDBaby and can't get enough of it..Keith Stegall did a great job with these guys in the studio and the album is all genres rolled into one. I Liked the Trailers version of "Chicken Fried" but Zack sings it better!

Apparently... the release of the album has been pushed back a week from today (9/2) to 9/9.

Not sure... my wife told me about it today when she was unable to find it anywhere (what a nice gal... she was going to buy it for me for my birthday ). She went on ZBB's website and noticed on the "pre-order" page that the date now said September 9th. Very strange considering how well the song is (surprisingly) doing and considering that all other sources - including the music page on their website - still has the release date listed as today.

This is still one of my favorite singles out right now, and it looks like it will hit the top 20 next week. I'd probably give it a 50/50 shot at making the top 10 right now. I'm thinking the album was delayed so it could be more widely distributed. When it was supposed to be released earlier this month, none of the major websites ever had it listed - the only place I saw it was zacbrownband.com. I'm guessing that will change when the new release date is announced. Maybe a bigger label will help with distribution? This song is also doing extremely well on iTunes, coming in at #2 on the country chart behind Taylor.

Why is it often so hard for bands to make a name for themselves? Is it because so often they lack a collective personality (see Cole Deggs & The Lonesome)?
This one definitely has personality, and a very likeable one at that. It's always nice to see a dark horse hit like this.

wgar.com has the album release date listed as Oct. 21, but I looked on the ZBB's website and saw no mention of a release date, so I'm not sure about Oct. 21. Is the label they are on an indie label, or a non-Nashville label? I thought I read somewhere that the label had had a great deal of success, but this was their first foray into country music.

What caused it to jump to #26 on iTunes? That is unusually high for a non crossover country song.

This song is seriously my favorite song right now (along with "Just A Dream"), and I gotta say I haven't been able to get it out of my head for weeks (that's a really good thing), it's just infectious. Now I'm definitly buying this cd it sounds amazing from what I've heard!

#60 on the Hot 100 already, and a disproportionately high showing on iTunes. Something tells me that big things are in store for this song.

It's extremely rare that an ugly situation like the Lost Trailers/Zac Brown incident works out for both parties, but it looks that may be the case here. It took the Trailers until their 2nd album, but they now have a T10 hit, and it looks ZBB is headed their as well. Smart move by Zac to hang onto the song, and I'm glad to see that it didn't cost the Trailers their "shot".

This is growing on me, slowly. I don't turn the station when I hear it anyways. But the success this is having boggles me (and that has nothing to do with me opinion of the song). Live Nation? Is that the label's name? I can't even remember. And it's not like they're following up a #1 smash. Or even a top 60 smash. Nevertheless, a couple of my friends have told me this has been stuck in their head, which also confuses me because they practically despise country music and this is one of the most country/country-themed songs at radio right now, IMO. And already #60 on the Hot 100?? Wow. Maybe they should cross this over to pop! :o Imagine this on the pop charts...

I've started hearing this a lot recently, and I do like it, except for the last verse. The patriotic nature of it seems tacked on unnaturally, and doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the song. Maybe it's just me, but I'd enjoy the song more without it.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd enjoy the song more without it. I think it fits nicely, myself. It's a little different from the rest of the song. But then again, the rest of the song is so good that maybe I'm just a little more willing to accept a slightly inferior third verse.

Where is this now on iTunes? Since were not supposed to post I-tunes updates in the Country Forum threads you will have to check for yourself.
