I despise this song. I don't mind redneck pride songs, but this one's just way over the top cheesy in my humble estimation.

I hated the Lost Trailers' version from the get-go, but have grown to really like this version, as it's sung a little more low-key, and not as obnoxious and in-your-face as other "redneck pride" songs can be (see the Trailers most recent song, Holler Back). Much more "easier on the ears".
And it does seem like it's gaining some serious momentum the last few weeks, with audience gains on Mediabase of 1.62, 2.11, and 2.70 mill the last three weeks. He's weathered the Taylor and Sugarland storm nicely, and only has to let Brad/Keith and the Flatts go by, and then he can continue to climb unhindered. So I'd be inclinced to move up rowdawg's 50/50 chances of top ten to the 75/25 range.

According to wgar.com, their album has once again been postponed, this time to November 18th. I'm not sure what the hold up is, but this song appears poised for a serious run at the T5, and the label is doing a complete hackjob on the album. I guess that should be very close to when this song peaks, but I still don't see the point in waiting (unless they are having difficulties coming up with the resources to promote it).

I saw them live a few months ago and they were fantastic!! Their sound is really unique for the country genre. Not so sure this first single shows that, but the follow-ups will I am sure. I do like this song and like TCOREY I usually hate them.

I really like this song too-- and don't remember if I ever heard The Lost Trailers version. I don't remember---why was the single pulled again? I remember hearing that it was pulled.

It was pulled because Zac Brown (the writer) decided he wanted to keep the song for himself/his band to release (must be one smart man to have realized it would do this well).

Nice jump to #11 this week, passing Keith/Brad in the process. This may be in the running for #1 now.

Nice jump to #11 this week, passing Keith/Brad in the process. This may be in the running for #1 now. I called the 19-11 jump last Monday. :) It's looking good to move up to #8 or #9 next week. It will pass Brad and George, and it has a chance to pass Montgomery Gentry.

I'm not a fan of this song at all, but it really does seem to be connecting -- it just scored a third consecutive week with north of 30K downloads and it is spending its ninth consecutive week in the R&R Callout America top-10. I agree that the song is looking good to make the top-5.

With a gain of about 1.8 million, this is the greatest gainer so far this week on Billboard. If it keeps up that pace, it will gain over 4 million AIs next week.
On Monday I said it had a chance to pass Montgomery Gentry to move to #8. Today I'll say it should pass Montgomery Gentry as well as Sugarland to move from #11 to #7.

Up to #7 this week, passing Sugarland and MG. Provided Carrie and Taylor don't hog #1 forever, this has a really good chance at #1. And if this makes #1, this will also make them the third country music group in history to reach #1 with a debut single.

Diamond Rio's "Meet In The Middle" was the first, followed by Heartland.

Diamond Rio's "Meet In The Middle" was the first, followed by Heartland. Ahhh.... thank you! And, to throw in a little asterisk there, The Wilkinsons got to #1 on R&R with "26 Cents". If you consider duos groups, then you can throw in Brooks & Dunn and The Wreckers. Have any Canadian groups topped RPM with their debut singles?

This one is definitely behaving like a future #1, and like it could shave a week or so off of Taylor's stay at the top. If it does make it (probably in five weeks, if Carrie gets two and Taylor gets two?), Zac and co. would be the 4th artist to score their first #1 in 2008 (after Otto, Wayne, and Rucker). I also did a quick count of the number of "first-time #1s" over the last two decades, since the switch to Nielsen BDS monitoring occurred in January 1990. Here were the totals I came up with:
1990 - 3 1991 - 7 1992 - 7 1993 - 6 1994 - 6 1995 - 7 1996 - 7 1997 - 5 1998 - 3 1999 - 4
2000 - 3 2001 - 5 2002 - 4 2003 - 3 2004 - 2 2005 - 3 2006 - 9 2007 - 3 2008 - 3
And the chart-wide slowdown that began in 1999 has affected this stat as well. There were 55 artists that got their first #1 during the 90s, and right now, with 9 years of this decade pretty much in the books, there's only been 35. If you take out that outlier of 9 artists breaking through in 2006, there's only been an average of 3.3 artists making it for the remaining eight years.
But if the recent quick turnover at the top (that I mentioned in the "Billboard Top Country Album/Single #1s - 2008" thread) continues into the new year, we might see those totals start to creep back up. Heaven knows there's always plenty of new singers hoping for their shot.
I just pray that Joey + Rory and Justin Moore aren't going to have their current songs turn the trick for them....

I really like this song. Its distinctive enough to stand out on the radio right now. I hope they have other good songs on their album because I might have to get this one.

wow 2006 is a total anomaly. Yeah, we had a LOT of anomalous #1's in that year. Jack, Bon Jennifer, Heartland, The Wreckers, etc. So far this year ,the only real anomalies are James Otto and Darius Rucker, but ZBB looks good to be the third.

wow 2006 is a total anomaly. If you're wondering who those nine were, they were: Carrie Underwood Josh Turner Bon Jovi/Nettles Jack Ingram Jason Aldean Rodney Atkins The Wreckers Heartland Sugarland (counting this as a separate "artist" from Nettles) And Billy Currington just missed, having his MBDSR hit #1 the last week of December 2005, or else we would have had 10 that year.

This song is decent, but I don't understand why it's exploding so much. I wouldn't complain if it kept Taylor out of number one though.
Also, the random tempo change before the chorus throws me off every time. Maybe I just listen too carefully but it takes away from the song for me, it just doesn't flow very well.
