I'm disappointed that this wonderful tune just missed the top ten, but congratulations are in order to them for coming in first on BBs list of 2008s top new country artists.
Rounding out the top ten were Heidi Newfeld, Julianne Hough, Ashton Shepherd, the Zac Brown Band, Crystal Shawanda, Randy Houser, the Eli Young Band, Phil Stacey and Kristy Lee Cook.

i wonder if this will get pulled this week? it is down in AIs and Spins enough for it to be pulled. but it will re-gain its peak at #11. i really wanted this to go top 10. but i am beyond ready for a new single. "All We'd Ever Need", here we come! I like this song a lot but I'm ready for it to leave now. Will it go next week? It projects to lose about 600k and that's borderline for Billboard. I'm not sure why you say it will regain its peak position -- I think it's likely to drop to #15 and that might cost it a grace week. Also if it stays on this week, it gets 3 more weeks if Billboard follows its usual practice of removing no songs during the Christmas chart week. (Everything will rebullet the week after that.) Right now I'm guessing Billboard pulls it, but this is as close a decision as I have seen all year.

I love this song, too...more than their first single.

Goodness knows they've promoted the heck out of this song; I've seen them on just about all of the late night talk shows over the past two weeks.
But they just couldn't overcome new singles from most of the format's most heavily played acts blowing by them nonstop on the charts over the past several weeks.
Here's one vote for 'Home Is Where The Heart Is' as the next single.

It's definitely going to help them that they will be on the Today show X-mas Eve.
As for the next single, I believe it's finally going to be a ballad. Should be either All I Ever Need or I Run to You.

Lady A lost almost 600k overnight. Most of the songs are dropping as of today, but the typical loss for a top 20 song is 100k, more or less. Not 600, so I'm signing on to the "going recurrent" opinion. Nice run, deserved better, bring on the new one.

I am a bit surprised that all the awards momentum didn't push this one into the top-10, but what surprises me more is the song's poor callout performance. I don't think it ever cracked the 50% Total Positive threshold on Radio & Records Callout America, and it never made the top-30 on their chart. With all the goodwill the act seems to enjoy and the catchiness of the tune, this song's poor callout performance was unexpected to me. Perhaps it was the song's subject matter, but I feel like there must be other one-night-stand/no-strings songs that tested better. I know Carrie's "Last Name" tested well. We need Miranda to release "Guilty in Here" for another test case. ;) On the other hand, this song's fate may be another reason that song never gets released.
In any case, I think it is probably a testament to radio's belief in Lady A that the song was able to overcome poor callout to knock on the door of the top-10, but I guess that belief has its limits, as well.
I'm not crazy about any of the other songs on this album becoming singles. I don't particularly care for "All We'd Ever Need" or "I Run to You." "Home is Where the Heart Is" could fare decently, I suppose.

When I saw them open for Carrie the lead girl and guy sang this really sweet duet that I LOVED. What was that song?

I was hoping this would make the top 10, too. It's easily one of my favorite singles out there right now. I thought all of their momentum would push it top 10, but that doesn't appear to be likely at this point. I still need to get their album, I really like the first two singles a lot.

Three words..."Slow Down Sister." I stand corrected. That song totally slipped my mind, and it's not because it is unmemorable. I agree, that song should be the next single -- it's soulful and catchy.

I'm sure it's a safe bet to say "All We'd Ever Need" will be the next single, being that their first two singles are not ballads and this is the strongest ballad on the disc. This is probably my favorite song from the album and I know it could be a huge hit for them!

agreed. i am 99% sure that "All We'd Ever Need" is the next single. also, they sang "Love Don't Live Here", "Lookin' For A Good Time", and "All We'd Ever Need" at the CMA Music Festival. and those were the only 3 songs they played at all their events.
and i am fine with that because (IMO) AWEN is by far the best song on the album and one of the best songs of all-time.

At one time, I know for a fact that "Home Is Where The Heart Is" was slated to be released as a single at some point... not sure if that's still the case or not.

i bet "Home Is Where The Heart Is" will be 4th. although it is not one of the stronger tracks on the album (IMO). "Long Gone", "One Day You Will", "Things People Say", "Slow Down Sister", and "I Run To You" are much better IMO.
but as long as "All We'd Ever Need" gets released and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" does not get released, i will be happy.

I love Long Gone, and I really hope it's released as a single. I'm guessing it's a given that "All We'd Ever Need" will be the next single, because it seems to be a fan favorite, and it is a ballad. Great follow up to the last 2 singles! :)

i really love "Long Gone" as well. but it seems like not many people consider that one of their favorites. i hope it and AWEN are the next 2 singles and then "Things People Say"

My station still hasn't added this song :(. Guess they're not going to now (but that's okay 'cause I want a new single now). I'm sure it's a safe bet to say "All We'd Ever Need" will be the next single, being that their first two singles are not ballads and this is the strongest ballad on the disc. This is probably my favorite song from the album and I know it could be a huge hit for them! That'd be my guess as well. Charles says it's his favorite song on the album, and he & Hillary have really good chemistry performing it in concert.

The song stayed on the chart at #15, despite a big loss of 1.7 million impressions. Now it should stay on for 2 more weeks, thanks to the holiday charts.
So that means 2 30+ week chart runs for Lady A's first 2 singles. That's quite a strong showing!

I got the album for Christmas today and I really like it. I think there are a lot of songs that have single potential, however I agree that "All We'd Ever Need" is the most likely. I think I would like "Home Is Where The Heart Is" or "Slow Down Sister" to be released as a fourth single (though I'd also be OK with "Love's Lookin' Good On You"). Just not "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" or "I Run To You".
I'd love to see "Lookin' For A Good Time" hang on long enough to make the top 10, but with all the big stars passing it this week, it probably makes more sense to push a new single as soon as radio gets back to normal in January.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoy the album as well. :)
I'll have to check out the message boards to see if a new single has been announced.

I have to agree that "All We'd Ever Need" will be the next single but I am kinda hoping for "Things People Say" since I think only one ballad will get released and I personally think "Things People Say" is extremely well-written and would do very well for them. I maintain, however, that "Slow Down Sister" is a HUGE hit single waiting to happen. It has everything needed (great hook, great vocals, catchy chorus, etc.) to be successful and it is hands-down my favorite on the entire disc. I really hope it closes the album as single #4, but I would imagine they will go with "Long Gone" or "Home Is Where The Heart Is".

I got there album a while back and have loved it ever since! So many single-worthy songs on it and I really do think Lady A is really unique! This song deserved #1, I enjoyed it more than their first...

Twenty-three weeks on 'CT40' and it still couldn't reach the top ten---dadgummit!
A real disappointment from a phenomenal CD, and one of the very best debut CDs of the past five years, IMHO.
