According to ShaniaGotchaGood!'s awesome site, Country On-Demand: MCA Nashville will officially release Lee Ann Womack's new single "Last Call", written by Erin Enderlin and Shane McAnally, to radio June 30. Her highly-anticipated seventh album, produced by Tony Brown and titled Call Me Crazy, will debut this Fall. "I'm so fired up to be back doing what I feel like I was born to do,which is making country music," said Womack. "The time I spent writing, looking for songs, and meeting with Tony felt so effortless and natural. One of my favorite things when making a record is working with some of the best singers and musicians in the world...it was so fun to have some of them work on this project." Four of the twelve tracks are co-written by Womack and fans will discover two other very well-known male voices accompanying the songstress, Keith Urban and George Strait. Last time Womack and Strait collaborated was for "Good News, Bad News", which earned them a Country Music Association award for "Musical Event of the Year." Womack has sold over 6 million albums, won two Grammy's, and most recently garnered critical acclaim for There's More Where That Came From. Released February of '05 on CD and classic vinyl, There's More swept Country Music Association trophies in the fall of the same year for "Album of the Year" and "Single of the Year"("I May Hate Myself In the Morning"). She is also recognized for #1 singles "The Fool," "A Little Past Little Rock," "I'll Think Of A Reason Later" and the mega smash "I Hope You Dance." - www.countryondemand.com/news/2008/06/call-her-crazy-womack-announces-new.shtmlI'm so excited

Wait. Why is she back on MCA after switching to Mercury for "Finding My Way Back Home"? I know they're both part of UMG Nashville, but why did she switch in the first place?

Does the adds date have any relation (indirectly) to when the song is released for HQ download or do we have to wait till her album is released this Fall? The adds date is strictly about the song's release to radio and the label's push to get it added to station playlists -- it has no bearing on the song's release to iTunes, Amazon or any other digital retailers. When the song will be made available to purchase is anyone's guess. It could coincide with the song's release to radio, but the label could also hold back the digital release until as late as the album's release. If the label sees the song testing well in the younger female demo, I can see them releasing "Last Call" to digital retailers sooner rather than later, as digital sales would offer some additional evidence to programmers that this song is catching on. But it might take a few weeks at least before the song makes an impact on callout.

^ Thanks, dudley.
As for this song testing well with young females... well, I'm thinking I shouldn't hold my breath.

I asked but never got an answer. Maybe with the void of Trisha on MCA and the addition of Julianne on Mercury, it just made more sense to put her back on MCA.

I saw Lee Ann in concert last night at the Chinook Winds Resort in Lincoln City, OR. It was a fine mix of hits and traditional country going back to Don Williams during her 1 1/2 hour set. She was in fine form, even though she endured an all-day trip from Manhattan to the Oregon Coast. She was in New York to honor Loretta Lynn at the Songwriter's HOF. The band was terrific featuring Jim Beavers ("Watching Airplanes") on acoustic and Morgane Hayes ("Don't Forget To Remember Me") as backup singer. I was surprised when she said this concert was her first live concert since last September. She delivered "Last Call" like she believed in it.

Great to hear Jim. Morgane Hayes is a great artist herself. Did Lee Ann do any other material from her upcoming record?

Thanks, Jim King! I was pleased to see that MCA Nashville sent out an All Access e-blast in support of "Last Call" two days ago. Here's the linkI hope that helps get this song off to a good start.

It seems from all the promo stuff I've seen that this album will be in the same traditional vein as "There's More." I'm not complaining!! :)

Shane McAnally? Ooh!!!!! I'd like him to get a new country deal...
It's good to hear new LAW music--- I hope she has some with Jason Sellers on backgrounds. Would love to hear them do a duet...

Man... I can't believe I found this! Go to songwriter, Dale Dodson's myspace page: www.myspace.com/daledodson and listen to his player and go to the bottom to "Hide & Go Cheat" and you can hear Lee Ann sing the full song. Awesome slow traditional country song with a Nashville sound. Classic country !

Awesome slow traditional country song with a Nashville sound. Classic country ! Great find! I'm not particularly enamored of "Hide & Go Cheat," though. I like the chorus, but not the way Lee Ann modulates her voice while singing it (her upper register sounds a bit thin to me -- but then, this is probably just a demo, right?). I'm not crazy about the verses, either...I don't feel like they do all that good job of drawing me in as a listener, as they lack a compelling lyrical or melodic hook. I don't know...I just feel like I've heard this story before and it has been done better. It's not horrible, and I do love the sound of the song (and hope there's more where that came from ;) ), but "Hide & Go Cheat" isn't quite doing it for me.

No problem. I'm not sure it's going to be on the upcoming album though. She said it was going to be on the new album like two years ago but that was when it was titled Finding My Way Back Home so things might have changed.

Yeah, she mentioned it on CMT's Top 20 Countdown. I hope it's still on the album!

This song has the ability todo well, but it will need serious promotion...like TV show performances along with award show performances.

Hey, thanks for the tip! I noticed iTunes has Last Call prominent under Country new releases. I hope this represents label promotion and not some iTune routine. And I hope we really get a full album out of Lee Ann this time around.

I have yet to hear this on the radio, but I keep listening to it over at allaccess. I can't say enough about how much I love this song. It is so great to hear Lee Ann and I just really love the sound and style of this song. Best song she has had out in a while, in my opinion. I hope this one gets a fair shot!

I personally really enjoyed this song, but I'm not sure if it will do well at country radio due to its style. With the airwaves dominated by contemporary country-pop, I can't see this song appealing to radio's new target demographic: teens. However, I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time)! I'd like to see this song become a success for Lee Ann because it is, after all, very good and the vocal is fantastic. Hopefully it'll catch on and she'll enjoy some exposure.
