You're kidding....sorry, but LeAnn's may not be what Taylor and Carrie are shifting, but Martina McBride and Allison Kraus???? Did Martina even release a single?

^Oh man, I would be too. Especially with the price you pay for tickets! Zach- I have been so excited. Since I joined the fanclub, the closest she has come to Indianapolis was to a Casino in southern Indiana across teh river from Cincinnati, 2 hours away. Finally, after 3 years she comes to Indy, with Keith Urban no less and is playing our brand new stadium that just opened!!!

^^ You're kidding....sorry, but LeAnn's may not be what Taylor and Carrie are shifting, but Martina McBride and Allison Kraus???? Did Martina even release a single? Martina did release two singles, and while they were underwhelming by her standards, they were almost identical to LeAnn's peaks. How I Feel peaked at #15, just one shy of NBTD, and For These Times had the same peak as GFAAGOW. Using single success only, it's still a coin flip, and you're not going to beat Martina in a coin flip at the CMA's. Allison Krauss on the other hand, got her nomination because of her critically acclaimed, platinum selling album with Robert Plant. I don't think LeAnn's album has even gone Gold yet. I think LeAnn has a great deal of talent, and I'd love to see her win some awards if the success warranted it, but I'm not at all surprised that she wasn't nominated, because she didn't enjoy that much success in the last year.

Here is great accomplishment for LeAnn:
09/11/2008 5:00 AM, AP Nekesa Mumbi Moody
How's this for a twist: Of all the No. 1 songs in the 50 years of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Chubby Checker's "The Twist" ranks as the most popular single.
Santana's "Smooth," featuring Rob Thomas, is the No. 2 most popular, followed by Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife," Leann Rimes' "How Do I Live" and "The Macarena" by Los Del Rio.
Congrats LeAnn for having the #4 most popular song in the Billboard Hot 100 era.

yeah, I saw that yesterday too that LeAnn is #4. We forget just how HUGE LeAnn's version was...especially for never hitting #1!

Billboard devotes an entire page to the story of how How Do I Live broke:
HOT 100: 'LIVE' LONG AND PROSPER September 20, 2008
Two Country Stars Had Their Way With 'How Do I Live.' But Thanks To Pop Radio, LeAnn Rimes' Version Prevailed. By Ken Tucker KEN TUCKER
In 1997, 14-year-old LeAnn Rimes was already a success. A year earlier she had scored her first top 10 with the traditional country throwback "Blue," which reached that region on Hot Country Songs. She quickly followed up with a No. 1, "One Way Ticket (Because I Can)," and two top five singles. Her debut album, "Blue," shifted 2.5 million copies during 1996, on its way to selling just shy of 6 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan. She earned two Grammy Awards, one of them for best new artist.
While dining at a Santa Monica, Calif., restaurant, Rimes was approached by songwriter Diane Warren. Despite the fact that the two had never met, Warren suggested Rimes stop by her home to hear a song. "I wrote this song for 'Con Air,' " Warren recalls telling Rimes. "I wasn't lying, I did write it for 'Con Air.' I just didn't tell her that there were 99 other songs being pitched for 'Con Air.' "
Rimes visited Warren, loved the song and agreed to sing the demo on the spot. (In an interesting turn, Rimes had already been contacted to sing on the soundtrack but wasn't impressed with the song choices presented to her.)
Hedging her bet, Rimes asked Warren if she could record the song regardless of whether or not it made it into the movie and Warren agreed that she could. "I love when someone is that excited about a song and they just go for it," Warren says. Rimes headed into the studio with father Wilbur Rimes and Curb Records chairman Mike Curb producing.
The sense of joy was short-lived. According to Rimes, musicians in the studio recording the song with her were contacted to cut the same song the following day—but with Trisha Yearwood.
Why Yearwood's version eventually wound up on the "Con Air" soundtrack instead of Rimes' is a source of debate even today. According to Warren, movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer was looking for a slightly different version of the song for the movie and Rimes' father wouldn't recut it, while Curb wonders if a perception existed that Rimes was too young to sing a love song.
Either way, Rimes found herself on the outside looking in. "Ultimately it was a power play that didn't get played in my favor," she says now. To add insult to injury, the musicians worked from the demo recorded at Warren's studio. Rimes was understandably disappointed. "My time, the song, everything's been wasted," she recalls thinking. "It's never going to see the light of day." And while Rimes' version was mixed and mastered, MCA beat Curb to the punch at country radio. As a proven hitmaker in the format, radio quickly gravitated to Yearwood's interpretation.
The story could have ended there, but it didn't.
During a chance meeting at LaGuardia Airport in New York, Curb asked a still-dejected Rimes if she minded if he shipped the song to pop radio. She agreed. "What did I know about what that really means at 14?" Rimes says. "[Send it to] whoever will play it. That will be cool." Curb credits his then-teen daughters with convincing him to take the song to other formats. " 'Dad, why don't you release it to pop? All of our friends love it,' " Curb recalls them saying.
Rimes' version of the song peaked at No. 43 on Hot Country Songs in August 1997, while Yearwood's version reached No. 2 that same month. But history has proved that Rimes had the far and away bigger hit. Her cut of "How Do I Live" reached No. 10 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 airplay chart and No. 4 on Top 40, and spent 11 weeks at No. 1 on the AC chart. Rimes sold 3.5 million physical singles of the song while Yearwood sold slightly more than 300,000. (The "Con Air" soundtrack, released by Buena Vista, has sold 83,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.)
While Yearwood reached No. 23 on the Hot 100, Rimes reached No. 2 and spent an impressive 69 weeks on the chart, the most of any song before or since. "It was amazing and it was meant to be," Rimes says. "Everybody relates to that song . . . it's been played at funerals. It's just one of those songs that lives on in everyone's life and has affected them in some way."
"A hit cures all ills," Curb recalls. "If you want to make an artist happy, break their record."
"Everybody did good, including me," Warren says now, with a laugh.
There's a lesson to be learned, according to Curb: "If you want to be in the music business, you better get up every morning and be prepared to turn negatives into positives," he says. "Because there's always going to be something that hits you that you don't expect."

I know this is getting off topic, but GOD I LOVE THAT SONG. I know a lot of people don't care for "How Do I Live," but I just remember that whole time frame and how consumed I was by that song. I didn't even have a CD player back then, so I had to rewind my tape over and over again. My dad (God love him) had to endure hearing it like 4 times EVERY morning on the way to dropping me off for school for like 2 months. The success it brought, the great live performances. I mean hell she was the best selling musical artist in the world in 1998, mostly because of that song. The Grammy performance was awesome, Billboard Music Awards, VH1 Divas, World Music Awards, charity specials...it was everywhere. But I must say, I think LeAnn has just absolutely slaughtered that song through the years. I can barely stand to hear her sing it now. I guess she is just so tired and bored of singing it that she just slurs her way through it. She did a guest appearance on the song for a foreign single, and I would love to hear a complete stripped down version like this. You can hear her appearance here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9H7AbW0xE0I think the Divas performance may have been the best: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JNV76RrHL0I mean, what kind of 15 year old takes the stage and delivers a perfomance like that? This is why I hate that LeAnn is so underrated. I feel like her continuous string of unsuccessful albums will overshadow the fact that she is one of the greatest young vocalists of all time. I would definitely dare to say that she's the greatest young country vocalist of all time. (Please notice I'm using the word "vocalist.")

I think she is extremely talented and underrated, but I don't think she is the best vocalist of country music currently. I'd give that award to Underwood, although before her I think Rimes was the reigning vocalist. "How Do I Live" was fantastic. No doubt. I hope this song picks up. :(

I think LeAnn and Carrie are head to head, and the only thing separating them are people's opinions of interpretation, atristry, and tone. Believe me I was definitely not trying to start a big debate between the two's fans. haha.

I don't think it's fair to compare LeAnn and Carrie vocally. Their voices are too different. Both are extremely talented and sing completely differently from each other. Like another poster said keep in mind that LeAnn has had a career since she was 13 and that might give her an edge but Carrie seems to have many years of experience singing even though she didn't get discovered until Idol.

Well it's funny because I think they've reversed each other. I've heard some of Carrie's earlier recordings and I think LeAnn at that age was definitely the better singer. They've even recorded some of the same songs and there's just no comparison. But, I think now Carrie has more control over her voice. LeAnn needs to work on enunciation and some other minor things. But she's become more of an artist though so that's a good thing. You're right though, they're very different now, but that all goes back to what I said about opinions.

i dont think Martina deserves to be nominated with those other four after the very lacklustre year she has had. Miranda, Carrie, Taylor and Allison were all huge this year. I'm surprised at how badly Leann is doing. I wish she could just have hits again, her music is really really good.

Marc Broussard's album, 'Keep Coming Back', was released today. On it there is a duet with LeAnn called "When It's Good." I really like her vocals on this track. They are clear and powerful.
As most of you know, Marc and LeAnn also sing together on her 'Family' album on the track "Nothing Wrong."

Still hasn't charted. I hate to be pessimistic, but I don't think it will at this rate. If it does, it might get one week at #60-#59. I heard this song today, finally. Meh, hasn't grabbed me yet. But it took me nearly 25 weeks to enjoy "Nothin' Better to Do", so…

^Which most likely means there will not be one. Since she has been so sick and the song's not really doing so great, I just don't see them forkin' money out for a video for this one.

I agree that there probably won't be a video at this point (unless the song really starts to take off). She has 208 spins, and about 600k in AI according to Mediabase (down from 212 spins last week, but up from 500k in AI last week). By comparison, One Flew South's "My Kind Of Beautiful" (#60 on Billboard last week) has 206 spins and just over 700k in AI right now, according to Mediabase. So, charting isn't out of the question, but she does need a few people to go recurrent, and to gain a bit more airplay.

I wish they'd at least say something about a video. This song seems to have the pattern of "Some People." Fan favorite, rave reviews, LeAnn calls it her favorite recorded song to date, etc. I just hope it turns out much more successful. Anyways, if anyone is interested, here's a song that didn't make it onto Family for whatever reason, but may appear on the next album. I WISH I WAS WRONGIt's the right thing This has nothing to do with loving each other It's too easy repeating the saddest lie we ever told To keep staying just for the sake of it I think this time we both know There's no way around us facing it I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong Truth is we were gone long ago I don't know why we keep holding on I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong I can't help but wonder what we'll do without each other You'll go your way, I'll go my way Let's promise that we won't run back Even when the memories kick in Just remember that we'll be better off being just friends I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong Truth is we were gone long ago I don't know why we keep holding on I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong When we walk, we're not human if we don't second guess If we're not looking back with a hint of regret If we don't lose our minds when we're asking ourselves What we should've, what we could've, what we would've done different I wish I was wrong I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong Gotta work up the nerve Let it bruise, let it hurt We both have to be strong I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong I wish I was wrong, oh I wish I was wrong. lol, I was just getting ready to post that myself. Allaccess does that from time to time, don't know why. I remember Carolina Rain being thrown on there a month or so ago when they were like #55. What I find even more peculiar is that the song is #53 with only .311 airplay. I know they use a points system, but that's still an extremely low audience number for a song that close to the T50. I imagine it's closer to #65 or #70 in audience.

LeAnn has postponed yet two more concerts- this weekend's dates- to be made up on her "2009 tour". This looks really bad for LeAnn. This makes at least the fourth time she's cancelled appearances/shows due to vocal problems.

That's too bad, the opportunity with Kenny was huge and she keeps missing dates. Hopefully she recovers.
