Here's another vote for 'ITYS' as the final single from 'Carnival Ride', followed by a new single in April or May, and a new CD around Labor Day.
The new single figures to go for adds sometime in December.
I would also strongly urge all of the newcomers to this country forum to go to the thread for 'Jesus Take The Wheel' (page 31 of this forum) and read pages 17-21 to get a quick education on how the country charts work, as well as a history lesson on some of Carrie's mind-blowing accomplishments with 'JTTW'.
It might not be a bad idea to fire up your printer, or download those pages onto a CD.
SGG, John & rowdawg21 are three of the very most respected posters on this board, so don't go spouting silly stuff, or they're liable to eat your lunch!!

I'm not sure why people are bringing Billboard into this, especially considering that this board has it's origins in the old Radio & Records forums. The music industry trade of choice (until the merger) was always R & R and they used Mediabase data until that point. The radio stations and programmers still use the Mediabase data as their preferred info, the only difference now is it's published in USA Today and not R & R.
"Jesus, Take The Wheel" and "Don't Forget To Remember Me" hit #1 on Mediabase/R&R, the latter doing so a few weeks prior to the merger. All six of Carrie's subsequent singles have hit #1 on Mediabase/USA Today. So that's eight #1's in a row.

I agree with the holiday song pushing. I honestly think that the label should send "What Child Is This?" to Christian radio and push "O Holy Night" on AC. The songs would SERIOUSLY increase sales. I am all for the IKYW push to AC after the holidays. It sounds like a #1 on there. I completely agree. I just listened to "What Child Is This" and it SHOULD definitely be sent to Christian Radio. It is soooo haunting and beautiful! :)

What Child is This is now my favorite of Carrie's Christmas songs. It is phenominal.
Hey-- looks like we are less then 3 hours away from another number 1 on billboard! yeah!

USA Today has traditionally used BDS, which is what Billboard uses. They just use a different chart week.

^ Believe me baby I lied?
I just don't see what there is to argue about, especially if this has gone on for a long time. Billboard is its own chart, and Mediabase and R&R each used to be their own chart. Each has its own stats, including #1 hits. Billboard and R&R have now joined, so they have their own stats. Billboard has its own history, regardless of this merge. That's all factual, so there shouldn't be disagreement.
People can disagree on which chart is most important or whatever, but I think we're all smart enough to know that each chart has its own stats/records.

Actually, the charts which appear in USA TODAY every Tuesday are from Mediabase, which also supplies the data for the countdown shows hosted by Bob Kingsley, Crook & Chase, and Lon Helton.

Well, I absolutely apologize for making you reiterate your comments, leilamaurizia. I understand how stressful it must be to have to set everyone straight on the topic, because obviously you have so many better things to do than sit around dictating comments about Carrie Underwood on a message board. Again, indeed I'm very sorry for making you go "UGH, not this again!" Maybe next time NO ONE should share their thoughts unless they're preapproved by you, ShaniaGottaGood, or Dudley, how about that? Massikur, to be clear, my "UGH!" wasn't directed at you at all, but more on the topic. And if I had to pinpoint a specific poster that prompted the "Ugh!", it would be dcowboy77 and not you. If you've been lurking on the board for a long time, you might have noticed that dcowboy always points out the Billboard thing... always. It's almost a tradition ;) (And we're good, dcowboy. We've both been long-time posters so it's all good, meaning I'm used to the tendencies and preferences of the regulars. Just messing with ya!) Anyway... JAD at #1 for 2 weeks? Also, someone made a comment that he/she was 99% sure Carrie would be asked to perform at the upcoming Grammys. I don't think so, for a few reasons: - She's already peformed for 2 consecutive years - With the label having submitted "All-American Girl" and "Last Name" for consideration, I just don't think Carrie has a sure shot at getting any nominations. She'll have a much bigger chance when JAD is submitted for the next awards cycle.

^ I see Carrie getting in Country Female, Country Album, and maybe Country Song. Because that wouldn't be a lot of noms, and moreso because none of them would be a major nom, I agree she probably won't get to perform this year. If "Stay" makes it in as the proverbial country song nominated for Song, Sugarland will probably be asked to perform. They may then ask Taylor Swift if she gets a nomination just because of her popularity.

Really? 2 weeks at #1? I think there is a minimum of 3... It depends on how JaD holds up after last week's obvious push (consistent with great callout, yes, but a push nonetheless). A lead of 5 million AIs is hardly insurmountable if the bottom falls out from under the song that's ahead and the song that's behind receives a push (as one might expect for "Love Story," for example, as Taylor Swift's album nears its release date). If JaD can hold at least hold steady this week, then it has a good chance at a second week at #1. Whether JaD gets a third probably hinges more on what Big Machine's promo team does for "Love Story" and maybe also whether a battle breaks out between "Chicken Fried," "Love Story" and "Let It Go." And, of course, how much longer country radio chooses to support JaD. Anyway, it's great to see that JaD made it to #1.

Yeah, I think a 2nd week is safe because of its lead, but a 3rd week is possible but also questionable. Carrie benefitted from a push this week, and I expect her to lose spins and impressions this week.
When does she get the benefit of the extra countdown spins?

They may then ask Taylor Swift if she gets a nomination just because of her popularity. agree. Carrie should get a few nominations at the grammys, in the Country Album, Country song, and Female vocal Performance. Just Stand Up may also be nominated for pop collaboration. I am not sure if Carrie will win any grammys this year, as I agree with Desi that JAD is her strongest chance... and I am not sure why they did not submit that this year. My theory is that they saved JAD for next year to avoid head to head competition with Stay--- as everyone knows Stay is going to win at the CMAS and grammys this year. No one has a chance against that song. (I am sick of it personally, but I am just trying to be honest). Sugarland will get a performance slot at the grammys for sure, and maybe a male country singer like KEith urban. I suppose they might ask TS but then again, they asked taylor to perform at the nominations announcement ceremony, so maybe they don't plan to ask her to perform at the actual grammys. Carrie might be asked to do a tribute song again at the grammys. That would be her only chance of performing. Maybe next year, they will have her do JAD, though it will be way too old by then.

YAY for JAD being number one! It looks like it'll be good for a second week too!
As for the Grammys, I think she'll get at least a nod for the vocal award but I'm not expecting too many others.

W00t! #1 on the charts and #1 in callout. Hope to see this song cross 5000 spins/week on the published chart.

Is she getting a 5th single? Close the album with "Flat On The Floor."

i hope she has 2 more singles... "Flat On The Floor" is an obvious choice, then "Get Out Of This Town" would be a great single as well. i also wouldn't mind "You Won't Find This" as a single or "Twisted" (although there is a VERY slim chance of those 2 being a single), but everything else needs to stay an album track

I'm wondering when her number one streak is gonna start to break (aside from Don't Forget To Remember Me of course). Her third, fourth album, the next single? Every single can't go #1 forever.

I think it'll stop once she starts falling into the Martina trap of releasing the same subject matter over and over again. She's already halfway to Martina territory by screeching her way through every song, so why not? Just kidding. Seriously, I'm also curious as to how long she can keep her streak up. Brad just finished his 8th #1 in a row, and he's on the same label, so I think Arista really has their mojo going again. It's like the good ol' days when Brooks & Dunn and Alan Jackson were hitting #1 with everything they put out.

And yes, she does have more #1s than many of the females that have charted in the last few years, but she still has not outsold most of them, and let's be frank, it's sales not singles that really matter. I'll go a step further. It's not even sales that really matter (especially since sales numbers are down across the board for virtually every artist these days). It's the touring gate that matters the most. Kenny Chesney has always had decent sales numbers, but he's the top dog in touring gate...which, in turn, is why he's EOTY. Granted there is some correlation between sales and touring gate (if you don't have the sales, you're probably not going to get the touring gate). But my point is once you sell the first million or two, at that point each additional million is not nearly as important as the touring gate number.

Artists make most of their money off touring, so to that extent it is what's important.
