I like it! I loved her on American Idol so I'm really happy she's got a record deal!

I don't watch AI, so I'd never heard of this girl prior to this, but I thought this was alright. Her voice sounded very strong on the verses (making me belive she would do a strong ballad, like has been mensioned), but she really oversang the chorus. I'm sure that will make the song wear on me pretty fast, much like several Carrie Underwood's songs, but it's still a solid debut effort. The production was a bit much, especially on the chorus, but that's becoming the norm these days. I don;t think she'll have any trouble make the T20 with this, and it could do even better than that.

I strongly disliked her on AI, and I really dislike her single on first listen. She may have a decent voice, but I honestly don't feel like she has any true artist qualities. The downfall of all these reality talent shows is that the ability to sing isn't uncommon, but possessing qualities that defines a real artist is. There have only been a handful of artists that have come from the AI/Nashville Star franchise that have what it takes for lasting, meaningful careers, and I don't think Kristy Lee is one of them. She may have a few hit singles, but she'll fall to the wayside when the label signs the next young blonde to take her place.

Kristy Lee Cook 15 Minutes of Shame Arista Since I don't watch "American Idol" I am listening to Kristy with no pre-conceived notions about her. You know, just put the music on and see what it sounds like without three celebrities who have an agenda helping you form your opinion- but we can go on about that all-day couldn't we. About the song itself- it's catchy and hooky and backed by a nice little sassy delivery from Ms. Cook. Welcome Kristy- to an over-crowded but hopefully, a very welcoming scene. Impacting now. wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/kris15mi.wma(I know, double post. But it's been a couple of days, so please forgive me. :))

The song had a great day yesterday. 7 new reporting stations with big markets like Detroit, Minneapolis and Denver. The song won a Hit or miss type contest in Denver yesterday at 92% keep it. It also has a couple of new stations today already. I do think this song is catchy enough to do well for her. Having the first real song from season 7 not including the coronation songs is very helpful for her. The single is very radio friendly and still almost 3 weeks before the adds date it is off to a good start.

I would also like to see some personality, I'm surprised she got a deal as none of her vocals wowed me on the show...

The only thing I dislike is the whole "15 Minutes" thing. This song (or the edit, anyways) clocks in at almost exactly 3 minutes. Why not call it "3 Minutes of Shame"? Not as catchy now that I write it down and look at it, but It would make a little more sense to me...

I liked her on Idol, but am not feeling this song at all. I'd actually nominate it as one of, if not the worst song from 2008.

If anyone hasn't seen the latest issue of Country Weekly, there is a big section on females in country music, and there is a little sidebar with the title "ladies in waiting" and kristy lee is mentioned...i find that a bit annoying since there are more talented artists out there IMO that are about the hit the big time, and i really don't think kristy is one of them. i think they should have listed Carter's Chord before they listed the girl with a single that just came out...sorry for venting, but its a bit strange how she automatically gets put up in that catagory...

Ouch! I'm not from US and I did not know so many people didn't like her... I think she is pretty good and I liked her on Idol...also the song is fun and catchy... It's not the best thing in the world but for a first single it's ok to me...she will do best with ballads (hoping for a second single) The song is still far away form its adds date but it's already making the charts... Taking Off ARTIST/TITLE/NEW STATIONS/NEW SPINS KENNY CHESNEY Everybody Wants To Go To ... 32 362 CARRIE UNDERWOOD Just A Dream 9 92 TIM MCGRAW Let It Go 5 51 KRISTY LEE COOK 15 Minutes Of Shame 3 44 She is off to a pretty good start and I'm really rooting for her... ps-this is my very first post...sorry if it got a bit long...

thanks for the info! its great to see Kristy getting some plays early on. hopefully it reflects on her chart run and this is a big hit for her. i loved Kristy on Idol and its great to see her doing well. I agree she will do better with the ballads, she certainly did on Idol. Anyway, Coat Of Many Colors, God Bless The USA, and Forever were her strongest performances IMO.

^ Yay! Another one for Kristy's team. ;)
Did anyone see the nice little video Arista has put on All Access? The Meet Kristy Lee Cook add?
It's adorable! She's gorgeus as hell on the photoshoot for her cd.

I personally like this song, but I did find this review kind of funny :)
Thumbs down review at the 9513:
Kristy Lee Cook - “15 Minutes of Shame” Jim Malec | July 31st, 2008 Email Share
For her debut single, American Idol: Season Seven alumnus Kristy Lee Cook takes on the role of a woman scorned–and she wants to tell us all about it. Just not in the song.
In the here and now, Cook settles for telling us that she’s going to tell us. She says she’s going to “spill the beans” and “shout it out,” but never actually does either of the two, a fact which leaves the whole thing seeming a little bit awkward. After all, here’s a song that proclaims juicy details of some sordid affair are forthcoming, but then serves up absolutely zero of those details.
It would be like if I wrote a review of this song which consisted not of me commenting on the song, but rather on how I’m going to comment on the song in the future. And even if I told you how awesome my not-yet-written, sometime-in-the-future review will be, I have a feeling you wouldn’t care.
You want the actual review. And, in this case, I want the actual story, not the promise of the story. But, in typical 2008 contemporary-country fashion, “15 Minutes of Shame” insults our intelligence by treating us like we have the attention span of a hyperactive fifth grader, as if we’re incapable of comprehending any narrative beyond a perfunctory list of actions that lead the singer from Point A to Point B.
Topical, shallow, unsubstantial, it would be essentially the same song if Cook were just singing the notes as opposed to actually forming the words. We get no indication of how her significant-other has wronged her, other than that which is derived from the song’s use of the most generic language possible. He “lied,” and he “broke his promises,” and that’s supposed to be enough for us.
And then it gets to the hook, and…is that supposed to be funny? “I hope you enjoy your fifteen minutes of shame?” Are Nashville’s songwriters even trying to be clever anymore?
Cook sounds fine at the hand’s of Brett James’ typically slick production–better, in fact, than she ever sounded on American Idol. And I recognize that her time on the show gives her nation-wide name recognition.
But at the end of the day, this signing by Arista makes little sense to me. Cook doesn’t have the charm of Kellie Pickler or the vocal chops of Carrie Underwood, and, based on this single, it appears she has no imagination as a recording artist. In every way, “15 Minutes of Shame” is a format-driven carbon copy, a direct-from-formula pop-country jingle.
And while this kind of disposable, radio-friendly single often strikes fast and hard, I have a feeling its star will fade quickly. It’s tough competition out there right now for pop-country leaning blondes, and this whole package just doesn’t work in an environment where females consistently struggle to garner airplay and sell records. I have a hard time imagining Cook competing in the current format, barring a dramatic shift in artistic direction, as she simply appears to bring nothing new or particularly interesting to the table.

^ Wow...that was not funny at all... I think in the begining he was just expressing his opnion...but after the middle of the review he just goes bashing her like crazy... If the song is really that bland can he really tell that much about her as an artist? I think he was a little out of line... The only part that was somewhat funny was the non review/future review stuff. I didn't noticed the fact she is not clear about the guy and is indeed funny. On the rest he is just being a hater.

Sorry, I probably shouldn't have posted that. I didn't intend to make anyone mad, but just thought he had a good point about the song never really telling what the guy did to make her mad. I read info at the 9513 site every day and I agree they are really harsh on most songs. I find it a good read and interesting to read the comments, even if I don't agree. I get a lot of good laughs over there and take everything they say in stride. To each his own though.

I don't always agree with the reviews over at The 9513, but I completely agree with this one. The first time I listened to this song, I kept waiting to hear what she was going to do or say to get back at her boyfriend, but nothing was said about that subject. I do think that's a major flaw in this song. Kristy will have to do better than this to have a career in country music.

Thanks for the love :) I like country universe too but I seem to stumble on that one instead of checking it regularly every day. I just like to read all the info I can and I find the whole country music industry fascinating.

I don’t know if it were my comments that made you think this way and if they were, I’m sorry. I just didn’t like the way he reviewed…he just seemed like someone in the Vote for the worst website. When he tried to be funny he went too far. But that’s just my opinion, I think a reviewer should give their opnion in a more professional way. He does have a point in the “not telling” matter.

chartfan, no need to apologize either--it's all good :) I didn't take offense at what you said. I see where you are coming from. I just posted it as "news" to use the term loosely about the single. If you've ever been to the 9513 site, you will see they like to criticize a lot of today's music. Kristy is definitely not the only one they've picked on. It's just a blog, it's not really an official review like you'd find on billboard or something.
You should read what the reviewer said about Kenny Chesney's new song, lol ;)
