this is kind of a surprise to me...i like miranda's album fully, but didn't expect this to be a single. I just hope dry town gets released eventually (even though i'm betting it won't :( ) Dry Town is soo country, would love to see this have success at country radio (sounds weird but...) It's almost too country to do well, which is pretty ironic. That said, it's my favorite song from the album and I'd love to see it be a single.

I honestly believe "Dry Town" would more than BOMB on radio. I think it's WAY too country for "country" radio to handle.
That being said, it is EASILY my favorite song on the album. Well, maybe not "easily". I mean, there's still "Gunpowder & Lead" and "Desperation".

I hope gunpowder and lead being her 1st top 10 hit leads her into bigger stardom. Hopefully she'll be able to pull off another top 10. :) or mabye top 5, or a #1 single.

I think she is going to focus on her originals as far as singles go... I love MLH ... it's very well written and she delivers the song beautifully... If someone has not seen...please try to find a live version...she nails this!!!

"Dry Town" is a Gillian Welch cover, (The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band also did a killer version back in 1999).
Either way, I am very excited about "More Like Her" being chosen as a single. It's a beautifully written song and I'm hoping and praying that it will be embraced by country radio.

thanks for the confirmation... I hope MLH does well at radio... Miranda is such a great artist and her songs are amazing... I just saw her chart record and gorgeous tracks like Bring me Down and New Strings did almost nothing...

As far as focusing on her own material, I wouldn't think that unless her label gives her enough artistic control, that that would be her decision.

I do think she has a lot of control... but to me it doesn't really make sense to release a cover when she has so many great originals to choose from.
I’d prefer her to put out MLH, Desperation, Love Letters than any of the covers (I really like them, don’t get me wrong, but I’d love for everyone to notice she is great songwriter)

I actually would really like to see 'Dry Town' released as a single. I think it would perform surprisingly well. Radio listeners would most likely not view the song as a cover because most are unfamilar with the song. That said, chartfan has a point that Miranda has enough great origionals to release, especially 'Guilty In Here'

^i agree, but dry town is fantastic, if she ever wanted to do a cover song single...its the one to do...i personally have never heard the original versions of the song (i'm 19)

Oh, age is not a factor in this. Older music was recorded and is available today on CDs ;) No seriously: Gillian Welch has never recorded a version, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has though.
There is no update for More Like Her's release date still right?

No, and Miranda's official site has not confirmed it yet either.
Maybe they are waiting for GPL to go as further as it can.
I just feel that radio took so long to embrace Miranda and now I have her cd for ages but she is still in single #3 (if you do not count CEG)
I’m torn between wanting new music and wanting her amazing ones to be heard and her cd to go Plat.

New music probably won't be til next year, so I'm hoping for another single cause it's better than no single.

Yeah.. I'm all up for two more singles from CEG...people need to hear these amazing tracks and I want it to go Platinum, it's my favourite album. But at the same time I can't avoid wanting new material...very selfish of me...I know

^not selfish, i feel the same way!! its hard to wait for music from an amazing artist! i think that whatever single they choose will be the last and then the new album will be out (they said she was recording in december or something right?)...i just wish they wouldnt give up on the cd so fast :(

yeah. I would pick Dry Town to be released over any other song. But the whole album is great. More Like Her is superb. But I just think that after G&L finally got her to a new level of stardom she should have stuck with the winning formula of an uptemo song to keep momentum. Just my opinion.

if they do another single after "More Like Her" i hope its "Guilty In Here". i love that one! i love "Desperation" too but she really shouldn't do 2 slow ones in a row. but i don't think they will release another single unless her label isn't counting CEG as a single

last night i was listening to the cd over again (haven't listened to the entire thing in a while), and i remembered how pretty more like her is. Is a very good song, very emotional, and i can understand why it was chosen. i do think desperation is a bit better though. if there is another single off the album, i think they need to a faster song (don't like ballads one after the other).

So this still don't have a formal date right? Has it really been confirmed?
GP&L has a great run but now it's going down the charts. I think she should send this one asap.
And I want a nice video as welll... showcasing the story told on this gorgeous track!!!

hopefully we will see her emerge into a triumphant country success story like Shania, Reba etc. She shouldn't compete with the Carrie/Taylors though, she needs to avoid trends and fads like that.

I just mean the whole teen/pop thing. She is too country for that so she shouldn't try it - especially since that side of the market is already saturated with those girls I mentioned plus the wannabes (Kellie, Jessica etc).

Carrie, teen pop? no. Wannabe, Kellie? no.

I don't think any of the females in the country industry right now are "wannabes." They're all doing their own thing.
