The host seems informed but not really articulate and has an unpleasant voice.

Is it their decision or the labels' because this has happened numerous times before with new artists? At least in the past, the CMAs dictated the performances for everyone except those nominated for the main categories (Entertainer, Male and Female). Artists nominated in those categories were allowed to sing new singles. ^ which is exactly the reason I quit watching the CMA's several years ago. It was a predictable cast of artists doing songs that had already been played to death on the radio. It sounds like tonight might be better, with 3 of the Horizon candidates premiering brand new singles, and a couple of others doing new songs as well. I think I may have to TiVo the show so I can at least catch the highlights of the evening.

Red Carpet Pictures: Getty PicturesWire ImagesEmily West and Sarah Buxton....what the heck? They actually make Julianne's big pink thing look good. Jewel looks beautiful though.

I always get the feeling that dudley looks forward to the nights of the CMA and ACM awards like the clerks at the retail stores do to the Friday after Thanksgiving (i.e., Black Friday). If everyone (posters/shoppers) behaves themselves, and plays nice, things aren't too bad. But if chaos sets in, it turns into a long night/day. Hope you got enough sleep, and a pot of coffee at the ready, dudley! I got distracted by the power outage story and neglected to acknowledge this -- thanks for the giggle and the good wishes, Jonsolo! And avsfan, thank you for the links and for being on top of the Shania story.

Brad Paisley and Keith Urban are starting the show with "Start A Band". And I just found out the second performer will be Kellie Pickler. Don't know about anyone else.

Ah, that does make sense, though I don't understand why they would need to do that, unless they need to keep the time in check or something.

Sugarland is playing Love. CMT just played a super short snippet of their rehearsal. Those that have seem them live with this already, they seem to be doing the same little set up they do for the concerts!

Is there any way that someone can post the performances (artist and song) and awards in the order they appear on the show?
Actually, does anyone know if the entire show will be available online like at the last award show?

Miley should not pick up smoking or she'll be singing lower than Trace Adkins.

Performance: Start A Band – Brad Paisley Keith Urban Starting out okay. The music seems to be drowning out the vocals a bit. Keith is adding great harmony. Mad guitar skills between the two.

That red carpet show on ABC was hideous. They need to have better hosts than Craig and Julianne.
Jennifer looks as gorgeous as ever and I thought Miranda looked stunning.

Well the hosts of the actual show aren't much better. That was a horrible intro. I didn't expect much though. However, Wolverine presenting a country music award is one of the highlights of my year, haha!

Brad seems a bit more stiff than I would have expected. Carrie seems a bit more comfortable but it still wasn't the best opening in CMA history.

Performance: The Best Days Of Your Life - Kellie Pickler
I like the longer hair on Kellie but not the outfit. Looked like a dominatrix. She actually doesn’t sound too bad…for Kellie. The lower register wasn’t so good in the first part of the verses but she picked up as the song picked up toward the end of the verses and into the chorus.

Performance: Good Time – Alan Jackson For an up-tempo song, this song is so boring to me. AJ started out rough but got okay for the rest of the performance. But WTF with all the dancers coming out? Kind of distracting but I guess that could be good in this case.
For the most part, the sound is much improved to me over recent years but the performances themselves are just a bit blah.

I can think of like 30 songs that deserved a song of the year nom more than Good Time.

I tuned in a little late. --I loved the Kellie performance. She was a little shaky in the lower register as was mentioned, but I think that's one of the best performances I've heard from her. But I love the song as it is, also. --Alan's voice was a little off, but it was a fun performance. --Why do they always pick such not-good hosts? At least Brad isn't nearly as bad as Sara Evans was. Though you can really tell he's reading and he looks completely stiff.

Was this live on their site? I don't see the ABC Red Carpet special anywhere on my west coast schedule. ??? That red carpet show on ABC was hideous. They need to have better hosts than Craig and Julianne. Jennifer looks as gorgeous as ever and I thought Miranda looked stunning.

Performance: More Like Her by Miranda Lambert Best performance of the night so far. So beautiful. Love the way this song highlights her accent. For the first part of the song, it was just Miranda and the guitar on a killer ballad….doesn’t get much better than that. I wish it had stayed that way but still great nonetheless.

Miranda was sensational. It will be tough for any artist to top that tonight.

Performance: Love Don’t Live Here Anymore – Lady Antebellum Great job by Lady A. Should be good exposure for the group. And the CMAs are now on a roll.
