Well, I finished off my version of 2005's charts yesterday, tabulated up the songs' points, and now, it's time to play "Guess the Top 100 Songs of 2005".
First off, of course, we have the "pre-game activities". Last year, as you may remember, there were 104 songs that gained 100 or more points. This year, there were more, a total of 113 songs. That means there were 13 songs that gained at least 100 points, but didn't quite make the Top 100 of 2005. I feel that those deserve honorable mention, plus one of them was one of my personal faves in 2005 and I forgot to give it "the special treatment" (placing it much higher on my version of the charts than on R&R to make sure it got enough points to register). So we start with the first of those three songs that just narrowly missed the chart:
113) This song, like many of these, charted too late in the year to gain a lot of points. It debuted on the chart in December and is the second hit by this new rock act, whose first hit was a big Top Ten hit.
112) This urban act has been charting at CHR since the beginning of the millennium. The artist has had several number one hits, but this was not one of them. Of the three words in this song, only one of them is spelled right.
111) This song is another one of those songs that was released late in the year. It was moving up on the last chart of the year, but now appears to be on its way down. The featured singer on this song was a member of a very successful hip-hop act.
GOOD LUCK!!
