LOL, you've guessed almost everything but the song in question. The name of the artist - you find these in a movie theater or a church. That said, I've pretty much given away the answer

Yes, that is indeed the one. I don't like most of Usher's songs, but this one I liked, since it didn't sound as Urban as his other songs. This one was more pop sounding (and even made the lower reaches of the Hot AC chart last May).
Now, I'll post the top three songs.
3) This has become one of the most popular wedding songs this year.
2) I wonder if the artist of this song has been staring at your photograph.
1) This song just barely fell short.
GOOD LUCK!!!

How is Usher's Caught Up "haunting"?
And what does BTHE have to do with falling short?

LOL, I don't know how those were posted twice.
Anyway, that is indeed correct. Kelly Clarkson held down the top two positions on my chart, like she did on R&R. Only the songs were in reverse order. Kelly won the top spot on R&R by a rather wide margin, I believe. The margin between the two songs on my chart wasn't so wide, however. I forget the point difference, but I know that it wasn't too much.

How is Usher's Caught Up "haunting"? The melody sounds a tad haunting. But that's just an opinion. Maybe I should have posted that in the first clue. And what does BTHE have to do with falling short? As I recall, it just barely fell short of hitting the top spot on the R&R chart this past summer. It didn't fall short on my version, however, as it spent six weeks at number one. By the way, in case anyone's curious about the clue for "Since U Been Gone" at #2, it was a reference to an old song by the British group The Outfield called "Since You've Been Gone". The first two lines in the chorus are "Since You've Been Gone/I've been staring at your photograph". I guess it would have made more sense for me to say in the clue, "...Ur photograph", especially since a vast majority of the members of the boards doesn't know that Outfield song, which peaked at #26 in August, 1987.

Now that this year's game is over, I have an announcement to make concerning my version of the charts. For a variety of reasons, the chart will no longer use the CHR/Pop chart as a basis. The main reason for this is because of how my opinion about the CHR/Pop chart has changed over the past ten years. In the mid-90s, there were much fewer hip-hop and rap hits played. However, ever since the 21st century began, the format has taken a turn for the worst (IMO) and this past year, I was toying with the idea of abandoning the format altogether. But this does not mean that I'm discontinuing my project. Instead, as of this year, I will be switching to the Hot AC format, which is much like the CHR/Pop format was back in the mid-90s. I won't be making the switch right away, however. To avoid a huge shake-up chart (dropping "Run It" off the chart from the number one position would not look good!), I will be slowly evolving towards the Hot AC format throughout 2006. This means that, for the first time in many years, I won't have a year-end chart to base it on. The plan is, for the chart to resemble the CHR/Pop chart for a month or two, then start adding Hot AC songs to the chart and then hopefully, sometime this summer, the chart will look more like the Hot AC chart. However, this depends on whether or not there are any songs that were riding high on the charts in late 2005 still hanging around then ("Photograph" and "Because Of You" come to mind right now). Fortunately, the fact that the recurrent bar on the Hot AC chart is at number fifteen will work to my advantage. I'll also have to see whether there are any songs on the Hot AC chart that make it onto the Mediabase Year-End Top 40 almost exclusively on recurrent airplay (ones that spend only the first few weeks in the year on the chart). If this tends to happen, the year-end chart I end up basing the project on will likely be my own (adding up the points of songs on the HAC chart using an inverse point system).
Anyway, I'm sure that many of you don't understand a word I said, so, in a nutshell, the basis on this chart will be the Hot AC chart this year. Thus, the guessing game will likely be posted in the Hot AC forum.
EDIT: I've changed my mind. For several different reasons, I've eliminated the plan of switching to the Hot AC format. The chart will continue to use the CHR/Pop chart, but there will be a few changes in what songs end up in the Top 40 of the year.
