Going recurrent when they fall below #20 [/b]: [/quote] and the record company gives up on promoting the single.

Shouldn't PCD be under when they fall below #20? I can't really see them tanking in 4 weeks.

Well, if someone asks them their opinion of President Bush tomorrow, who knows? ;) Honestly, I like the way it is done. That way the "fall below #20" category tells you that those songs have been on the chart for 20+ weeks. I find that helpful.

Good job for Kelly. 23 weeks and still top 5 is amazing.
It looks like it's guaranteed that Gwen (Luxurious) won't go recurrent.
Also, I think Rihanna may make it past 20 wks. at the rate that song is falling.

I did go ahead and move Kanye and Chris Brown down, but I don't like messing with the songs that still have a month to go. Good observation though, Jen. :) ...and this will be Natasha's 12th week on.

Going by R&R's WOC, this is what the recurrent schedule should really look like:
Going recurrent THIS week (2/3): Green Day
Going recurrent in FOUR weeks (3/3): T-Pain ("Sprung")
Going recurrent in FIVE weeks (3/10): Pussycat Dolls Sean Paul Rihanna
Going recurrent in SIX weeks (3/17): Mariah Carey Young Jeezy f/ Akon

See, that's why we keep you around Eth. To fix my mistakes. Although to be fair, I was basing my extension off the T-Pain recurrent date originally supplied by you here.

Well, since you deleted my post in that topic after copying the information, there's no way of knowing for sure that you didn't just copy it wrong. But yeah, the possibility that it could have been my fault the weeks were off did cross mind, so I apologize if I sounded like I was getting mad at you for it.

With Gwen Stefani's "Crash" becoming the sixth top 40 hit off of Love, Angel, Music, Baby, it got me wondering, what was the last album to produce six top 40 hits? It's been a few years since it happened. I checked my records, and if I'm not mistaken, the last album to pull it off was the Backstreet Boys' self-titled debut. Between late 1995 and early 1999 it put six songs in the top 40: "We've Got It Goin' On", "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)", "As Long As You Love Me", "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)", "I'll Never Break Your Heart", and "All I Have To Give".
Since the beginning of my recordkeeping (January 1992), I've only found two other albums that have done this, both by Jacksons. Janet's Janet had six top 40 hits between 1993 and 1995: "That's The Way Love Goes", "If", "Again", "Because Of Love", "Any Time, Any Place", and "You Want This". Michael's Dangerous had seven top 40 hits between 1991 and 1993: "Black Or White", "Remember The Time", "In The Closet", "Jam", "Heal The World", "Who Is It?", and "Will You Be There".

*shudders* All of these are rhythmic songs, with the exception of gwen, but she's getting played on Rhythmic too.

Since the beginning of my recordkeeping (January 1992), I've only found two other albums that have done this, both by Jacksons... I think the album that spawned the most singles was also by Janet. RhythmNation 1814 produced 8 from 1989 through 1991: "Miss You Much," "Rhythm Nation," "Escapade," "Alright," "Come Back To Me," "Black Cat," "Love Will Never Do Without You," and "State Of The World." [ Side Note: If Kelly Clarkson can take another single from Breakaway to #1, she will be the first artist since Janet to hit #1 in three different years with singles from the same album. I personally think she can do it, and I also think the material is there for her to match with 8 singles from Breakaway if her record company will promote them.] I'm not sure if Michael had 8 from either Thriller or Bad. I don't know of anyone who has had 9 or more.

Michael stopped at 7 with both those albums (although he could've easily had an 8th hit each time had Epic released another single). Nobody's had more than 8 (and Janet's the only one to do even that).

The Greatest Gainers chart looks really bad. 8 of the top 10 or rhythmic/urban-leaning songs, 1 pop song, and 1 hot ac song.
All total of the top 20: rhythmic/urban-leaning: 13 pop/dance: 3 hot ac: 2 rock: 2
I wouldn't be complaining at all if Natasha Bedingfield was the Greatest Gainer, as I think she rightly should be, her and Kelly Clarkson have the only 2 "real" pop songs.
Then look at the horrible titles on there too, "Grillz," "Shake That," "I'm N Luv (Wit A Stripper)," that just looks "So Sick" imo. Not to mention all of those songs are pretty bad imo, really says something about America. Of course what is really bad about America is that the best 2 quality songs (imo) on the Greatest Gaining chart are not even from America (Natasha Bedingfield & James Blunt) (not counting Kelly and FOB because they are also great).

I'm not sure if we should count the BSB in that list of having 6 Top 40 hits from one album. 'We've Got It Goin' On' made the chart almost two years before their album came out and it was a single from some various artists compilation and not an advance track from their CD. I knew there was a reason why they deserved the ol' * by their name in this sense.

I knew there was a reason why they deserved the ol' * by their name in this sense. It was released two years earlier b/c they tried to launch over here first. It flopped hard (although top 40 is better than I thought it did), so it was decided that they wouldn't release the album here and go to Europe instead and try to break the US later after gaining success there like 2 years later. i'm not sure if I would say it counted or not, but IIRC it was promoted as an intended advanced single off their album, which just didn't come out until 97. of course, *NSYNC skipped that stage entirely and went directly from Europe to the states for their debut.

2 great songs (Blind and Perfect Situation) will be out of the Top 50 this week, which is a tragedy. Both should be smashes just like their previous singles were. I don't understand it...Pop plays their first single like crazy but ignore their second one. I don't get it because other artists (Kelly Clarkson, BEP, Mariah, Fall Out Boy) get their singles played after their previous smashes... but the 2 bands mentioned don't, even if the songs are amazing..

Pop has always treated Lifehouse like crap, even though they have one of the top 5 biggest songs of the decade, they only played that because they needed a pop/rock song to play for the summer. They have never gotten the respect that they deserve on the Pop format, if Pop truly had respect for them they would have at least sent "Breathing," "Spin," and "Blind" top 20. Pop (and America) needs a few good role models, and I think Lifehouse is a great role model for teens, if I wasn't a Lifehouse fan I'd probably be in a lot worse shape than I am now, and I'm not joking. All of their songs manage to give a strong message about a topic, and though to many it may be too spiritual, I still think anyone can relate to it. Come on, would you rather your kids listen to Eminem or Lifehouse? I hope that isn't a difficult question for anyone. Sorry, this probably got a little too personal, but that's just how I feel about Lifehouse and Pop radio, it's Pop radio's loss.
