earlier this week their CEO said they were no longer going to publicly report their playlists and adds, supposedly so their stations could have more freedom to program and not be a slave to the charts all the time Which is kind of a bullshit reason, since playlists and adds should be a product of what the stations are programming anyway, so how is not reporting them suddenly going to give the programmers more "freedom".

Because of the R&R panel reduction, we won't see a chart with accurate bullets (again) until Saturday, February 4. It's New Year's all over again (though less so, and primarily affecting Hot AC songs)... --DanG

I see that Cumulus has a different "target demo" that they are going after in the ANGER department than Clear Channel... Cumulus is going after the trades, while CC is going after the listeners. ???

I guess it's supposed to be something like, if everyone sees that Z100 added a song, then a lot of smaller market stations (including Cumulus ones) would feel pressure to add it and play it tons. The point is probably moot because apparently Cumulus is even worse with copycat playlists than Clear Channel and all of their stations are programmed from corporate.

Yonka lost her bullet now. Ne-yo's horrible song will replace it unless fall out boy "Dance Dance" gains faster

They killed Natasha's bullet. :(
It appears that Cumulus stations were more Hot AC-leaning, because those are the songs that were hurt the most. So is rhythmic/urban going to take over even more now!? I don't think I can take anymore. I'll still watch the Pop chart, but I don't know if I'm going to waste my time anymore rooting for songs that will never have a chance now.
Meanwhile, the Goo Goo Dolls looked liked they were going top 40, but they've fallen out of the top 50 because of the change.

They will probably still be screwed up on h1r though.

The Goo Goo Dolls and Natasha Bedingfield weren't hurt as badly as Rob Thomas though, who went from over 400 spins to under 300. How much attention do PDs pay to Mediabase? Do they care about what goes on on Mediabase from day to day, or are they interested only in what shows up on the weekly R&R charts? If the former is true, I hope they don't look at these bulletless songs that would otherwise be bulleted, assume they are done and start dropping them.

Ok, so how many stations are there on the panel now? There were 121 stations as of the 1/20 chart, so there should be somewhere around 113 now.

^Thanks. What's weird is that these 7 or so stations that got removed probably gave barely any audience. I mean, despite most songs losing a ton of spins, their audience's have stayed pretty much the same.

Many of the rhythmic hits are plummeting as we speak with the removal of Cumulus stations from the CHR/Pop (R&R) panel.

^Umm Hot/Ac leaning songs are more affected than rhythmic songs.

I was hoping that the All-American Rejects would officially peak in the top 5, but they will cut it really close with Kelly Clarkson.

Nobody is forcing Cumulus to take direction from the larger market Clear Channel stations, and by reporting their adds and spins to R&R, they can actually help to increase the performance of songs that they believe in. ^Thanks. What's weird is that these 7 or so stations that got removed probably gave barely any audience. I mean, despite most songs losing a ton of spins, their audience's have stayed pretty much the same. Slinky posted the list of stations in the Cumulus thread, and they are from relatively small centres. It's too bad there is a Hot AC/Rhythmic dichotomy between the smaller and larger urban centres.
