The Welsh songstress's other massive hit. This was a HUGE worldwide top 5 smash in the late 80's. Didn't quite eclipse "Total Eclipse Of the Heart" but it came close. Now famous once more for Jennifer Saunders' hilarious cover in Shrek 2 (She played the Fairy Godmother)
Even more OTT and campy than "Eclipse" but still a classic IMO.

You don't hear this very often on the radio, although someone mentioned it was on AT10 recently.

Not a big fan of this one.
Originally from the Footloose soundtrack, featured during the "exciting" tractor-chicken scene (I hate myself for knowing that).

Yes, it was on AT10 recently. It was the week Casey was spotlighting artists from the British Isles.
I like this song a lot. I remember once in high school my English teacher played this song during a lecture on heroes in literature.

This song is so over-dramatic and the video is even more over the top. That said, I love it.

Bonnie Tyler is the queen of over the top music, really. No surprise this was written by Jim Steinman.

My favorite Bonnie Tyler hits:
1) Total Eclipse of the Heart (long version) 2) It's A Heartache 3) Holding Out For A Hero
After that, I don't remember anything else she's done.

I absolutely loved both "Holding Out for a Hero" and "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and must have played them over a thousand times when they came out.
Still like both songs, but there was a cover of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" a few years ago (was it Nikki French?) that I absolutely hated.

Um, I don't think this song exactly "came close" to "eclipsing" "Total Eclipse Of The Heart". I'm not sure where it peaked exactly, but I know that it didn't hit the Top Ten, whereas "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" spent three weeks at #1. Her "other massive hit" would be her first one, back in 1978, "It's A Heartache". That was a Top Five hit that summer. She did have at least one more minor hit, called "Take Me Back", but that only peaked in the lower half of the Billboard Hot 100, I think (I know it didn't make the Top 40). It was the follow-up to "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" and charted in early 1984.

Yeah when I wrote that I thought this song had gone to #2 in America like it did here. I had no idea it stalled at #34. :o

that's cuz that's all she's done Erm.... no it isn't. Far from it. She was an active recording artist right through to the late 90s. She had a few more hits, such as "Lost In France" and "Loving You's A Dirty Job".

Those are her only big US hits (Not that the US is the centre of the musical universe, as you seem to be implying), but she actually had three more:
Take Me Back: #46 Here She Comes: #76 If You Were A Woman (And I Was A Man): #77

I love this song. Totally over the top? Yes but the lyrics demand that it be.

Holding out for a Hero is a great song by Bonnie Tyler. It's also on the Footloose Sndtrk.
I was listening to KTU one Saturday night and I heard a really GREAT remix of this song and cannot find it to this day.
Anyways, that's one of my old favorite songs.

LOL. and jennifer o' neil was in this. she was HOT... or at least she was in my pre-pubescent mind.
