People are forgetting that music is about making money and the Grammy Awards need RATINGS! With the Jonas Brothers already performing the addition of Taylor and Miley was marketing genius on the Grammy's part, this should guarantee a large number of tween/teen eyeballs fixed on the Grammy broadcast.
Whether you like them or not, the fact is that Taylor is the top selling musical artist in the USA these days, and Miley has the most popular kids TV show, so the two of them together pack a popular punch. Taylor's song "Fifteen" is going to be another chart topper for her too, so this exposure will probably keep her new album selling like hotcakes.

LeAnn Rimes's website says that she will be in attendance and is presenting.

^ That's good to hear. I think the Female vocalist slot could go to Leanne, trisha or Carrie actually. I do love Leanne Rimes' song. It was one of her best.

I won't be shocked if she wins, but I have a hard time seeing "Last Name" trumping LeAnn, Lee Ann or Trisha. Carrie could do it (she always does) but "Last Name" is EXTREMELY weak in comparison to the other three songs. I think "Just A Dream" would've had a GREAT shot at winning if it was eligible, but I think Carrie will have to wait until next year to get another Grammy.

^ Yeah I think they saved JAD for next year to avoid Stay... that is just my opinion but there is no other explanation for not submitting Just a Dream, as it was the strongest song off Carnival Ride.
It will be close. The thing that is nice about the nominees though, is that all 5 ladies this year are deserving and all 5 are very strong vocalists, so whomever wins, they deserve it. That is rare to see at awards shows. Usually there is one person who should not be allowed near this category.. but I guess that is mainly at country award shows. The grammys seem to be more about vocals and less about sales.

If Carrie does indeed win this year I would have to believe the artist and not the song is the reason. Carrie is a great artist, nominated for one of her weaker songs.

^ I agree Last Name is not in the same league as Just a Dream. It is a great song for concerts though-- it really pumps the crowd up when performed live. I do like the song, but I admit I also love Trisha's song, Leanne womak's song, and Leanne Rimes's song this year. The only song I don't like is Martina's. It is just kind of blah. But I love Martina in general.

The Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance shouldn't be about the song (although oftentimes it is); it should be about the vocal performance. IMO Carrie has the best vocal performance albeit with a crappy song (and yes I hate "Last Name"). I guess we'll see in a couple of days...

I just saw this on umgnashville.com. I know we knew they were performing but it seems the label is letting the cat out of the bag on what in a few days.
Sugarland to take the Grammy Stage... More to Come Sugarland is among the latest additions to the performance lineup at this year's Grammy Awards. They are also up for three awards, including Best Country Song ("Stay"), Best Country Performance by a Duoe or Group with Vocals ("Stay"), and Best Country Collaboration With Vocals ("Life In A Northern Town" with Little Big Town and Jake Owen). Watch the live telecast, Feb 8th on CBS.
Check back on Friday to see what they will be performing.

I thought that this would be the best place to post this:
Access Hollywood is predicting that Lady A will win the New Artist Grammy Award. Check out what they wrote below.
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- I had never heard of Lady Antebellum before theGrammy Awards nominations in early December. Now, say you, country music is not my forte, but I have certainly come to appreciate it over the past several years.
‘Lady Antebellum?’ I thought to myself. Lady GaGa’s long lost country cousin, perhaps?
At first, I pictured some slightly backwards country-singing drag queen whose shtick persisted on anachronistic political un-correctness.
When I learned that, in fact, they were a country trio of two men and one woman, with Dixie Chicks-like harmony, I was even more intrigued.
So, I picked up their self-titled debut album and gave it a listen leading up to this year’s Grammys, and what I discovered is a band who I truly believe is poised to become “the next big thing” in country music crossover success.
Now, those of you in Nashville are probably saying, “You’re a little late to the ballgame buddy! Their album came out in December 2007!”
Well, you’re right, I am, but at least I’m playing ball now!
Many of you may be surprised to learn that band member Charles Kelley is the brother of pop singer Josh Kelley (who is married to actress Katherine Heigl). Charles also recently got engaged. All three band members, including Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott, are young, pretty and talented.
The first two songs on Lady Antebellum’s album, “Love Don’t Live Here,” and “Lookin’ For A Good Time,” are rockin’ fun country anthems. They charted big in 2008 for the band.
Current single, the slightly more down tempo “I Run To You,” was just currently serviced to radio. Download any of them, and you’ll be satisfied – country music fan, or not.
They’ve already won Top New Duo Or Group at 2008’s Academy of Country Music Awards and New Artist Of The Year at the 2008 Country Music Association Awards.
And for those of you who said I was late to the game, don’t be surprised if when Lady Antebellum likely walks away with the Best New Artist Grammy this coming Sunday, their crossover popularity skyrockets with many more mainstream music fans than myself.

That would be so crazy. After all, there have only been two country artists to take that award home: LeAnn & Carrie. This could turn out to be country's night.

I hope LAdy A wins too. I think it would be a major shock to the other artists though. lol
If leona Lewis had been nominated for BNA as she should have been, I think she would have taken it. But without her, the other nominees are sort of unknown, except for Duffy, but she is a newbie too. So Lady A has a much better chance without Leona Lewis in the category.

Sugarland is singing Stay, and then seguing into a collab with Adele to do "chasing pavements."
Carrie is doing Last Name, because I guess it is the nominated song so they asked her to do it. But she blogged that it is going to be an "exciting" version of it so I am curious what they are going to do to spice it.
Kenny is doing Better as a Memory.
Allison/Robert are doing a medley I guess.

I knew the songs I just didn't want to spoil it for everyone is all! Entertainment Weekly is suppose to have a video up within the next few days of Sugarland and Adele meeting, rearranging the song and interviewing! It's said it only took 20 minutes to rearrange and work out the songs behind close doors. Only two mistakes were made in the rehearsal of it. Jennifer having a gigglefit during the first verse of Stay and Adele missing a cue in her song. Otherwise it went off without a hitch and should be great Sunday. popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2009/02/grammy-rehearsa.htmlThere's a video up of the rehearsal now on ew.com. When I looked it was on the front page of the site. If it isn't check under popwatch part.

Why is Kenny doing "Better As A Memory?" He isn't nominated for it, and it's from his last CD not his newer one.

I honestly think the BNA Award will go to Adele or Duffy.
If it doesn't go to either one of them, I'll be quite surprised.

I hope LeAnn get Female Vocal Performance, as Last Name is not a Grammy-deserving song (it kinda hurts to say it. lol)
I love both Duffy and Adele, but 19 is a perfect album, in every possible way. So, I hope Adele takes it.
