I'd laugh so hard if this was picked up after the airplay freeze.

I'd laugh so hard if this was picked up after the airplay freeze. In the U.S., maybe. Although I wouldn't count on it. Looks like this has just fallen off the rails in Canada. And I was hoping this would perform better than Give It 2 Me. Seems that little to nothing was being done to help this single. And given what the song is about, it seems way pointless now than it might have been earlier in the year, perhaps as a follow-up to "4 Minutes". On the other hand, there are always the dance remixes. It will be a hit in the clubs, but that's pretty much it.

On the subject of OHP, which version of the single was played? The regular cut or the remix?

This song is great. It's too little too late for madonna. She was warned about GITM and she released it anyway and it flopped hard core!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this her lowest charting single in the UK since the original release of Borderline stalled at #56 way back in 1984? It is, although "Borderline"'s peak is often counted as being #2 after it re-entered in 1986. If you do count that then her previous lowest peaking single was "Take A Bow" which got to #16 in 1994.

What would have been the second single? Looks like this single was pretty much the last nail in the coffin for "Hard Candy". With no future singles planned, this era is so done.

Thank goodness for 4M, or the Hard Candy era would really be pathetic.

No, Madonna herself wasn't warned about releasing the song. ;) But when it was announced as the 2nd single, a lot of people on here were sure it was going to flop... and it did. :(

There has very little promo for the album. Nor for the singles after "4 Minutes." Even then, "4 Minutes" didn't have the much promo. No promotional appearances anywhere (aside from the 'promo' tour at Roseland). No music video for "Miles Away." Not even a live tour one.
In terms of appearances, a couple of talk shows like Ellen or Oprah would have been fine. While they may not make a huge difference, every little bit can help.
It looks like there may not be a 4th single. :(
It's a shame that "Miles Away" didn't get promoted properly. It could have done okay. Maybe not as well on Pop, but on AC. It just barely debuted on the Dance Airplay chart.

It just barely debuted on the Dance Airplay chart. Oh snap! You know it's bad when Madonna barely debuts on the dance charts.

^ I think he means it just debuted on the dance charts. It's at #12 this week, up from #20 last.
Anyways, I would have loved for this to do well (since I absolutely love the song), but it's definitely not in the cards. Oh well, HC will be at almost 4 million ww when all is said and done, and that's pretty damn good for absolutely no promotion whatsoever. She's made it clear that touring is what she cares about the most.

It just barely debuted on the Dance Airplay chart. Oh snap! You know it's bad when Madonna barely debuts on the dance charts. True. Even during the American Life era when things were pretty bad, all the singles promoted to the clubs managed to go at least top 10. Even "Mother & Father" managed to go top 10. and it wasn't formally promoted. ^ I think he means it just debuted on the dance charts. It's at #12 this week, up from #20 last. That too. I was referring to the Dance radio station airplay. In the past, the Dance stations tended to play her songs/singles before they were actually formally announced. Here are the most recent Mediabase charts for the format by way of FMQB. Beat Goes On or this should've been the 2nd single, they would've done better.

Gains a spin back on the Quick Cut data. First guaranteed non-OHP spin, as it's from Friday's airplay.

A few more stations must have either played it or added it because All Access is showing MA as being up to 39 stations now.

Must've gotten 3 OHP rounds last week and only 2 this week; down to 52 spins on Quick Cut.

Everyone keeps on saying the UK chart is sales-only, so it probably is charting based on downloads. :)

Out of the Mediabase chart. I guess Open House Party did not play it last weekend.
