Goes for adds on CHR Feb 24. I really have the feeling this could be their first big pop hit since Mr. Brightside. It's got a ton of potential, imo. Hopefully it fares better than their stuff usually does here.

I like this but I don't think it will do well on CHR. :(

I like this but I don't think it will do well on CHR. :( Well it will be an uphill battle, that's for sure. They don't have the advantage of being embraced by the format, so if it is a hit I think it will definitely take time. It's just such a catchy song, and it really is very poppy, I think.

The song is fine, but I couldn't care less how this does. Other than Read My Mind, nothing they've done since Hot Fuss has deserved the same level of attention or success as that perfect album

It's a good album yes, but, personally overall it's their weakest effort, imo. It's got like 5 great songs, and then just a bunch of filler. I think Sam's Town and Day & Age are stronger albums overall.

Human's only finally cracking the Top 40 now, and we all know how long that took. I don't think the follow-up will do much in this format - seems more promising on both Triple A and Alternative, less on Hot AC. Human is so much better than this. I'll have to agree. I listened to "Spaceman" a couple of times and it did not grow quickly on me as "Human" did. Maybe I'll need to sample it a few more times but right now I can't say I like it.

I liked Spaceman a lot back when I first listened to the album, and I still like it, but it doesn't sound as immediate to me anymore. I don't know why, it's not like I burned it out or anything. I've only listened to it a few times altogether. And I think a Killers song would have to be very immediate to take off on CHR. Or at least have huge buzz from alternative radio.

I didn't like "Spaceman" when I first heard it, but now I love the song and think it's about on par with "Human" (which I thought was one of the best songs of '08). It's fun to listen to, and I hope CHR gives it a chance.

Sam's Town and Day & Age are both better albums with higher average song quality, imo.

It's better than "Human," but I don't know how good a match it is with this format.

Miles better than Human. I still don't understand the comparison of human to denser.

the line actually goes: "Are we human? or are we dancer" yeah, so it makes even less sense than Denser But really I agree, Spaceman kills Human

This won't do anything that all their singles post-"Mr. Brightside" couldn't do. Alternative radio isn't even eating it up the way they do with most Killers singles.

I love this track. It's downright silly, but in an enjoyable, listenable way, as Flowers always sounds at his best when he is loose and playful and doesn't take himself that seriously.
"Human" was a strong first single and, to be honest, I can't see this being a big hit here. I certainly hope it is a success though, as it would be tragic to see "Day & Age" slip between the cracks amidst a large pool of much duller, interchangeable MOR bands here, while selling strongly internationally.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This won't do anything that all their singles post-"Mr. Brightside" couldn't do. Alternative radio isn't even eating it up the way they do with most Killers singles. I wouldn't be worried just yet. Remember that "Human" has only now left the Top Twenty on the Alternative format and, despite "Human" still getting a respectable amount of airplay there, "Spaceman" is about to enter the Top Ten about a week from now, where "Bones" didn't even make the Top 20 from their previous album as a second single. While I think this entire album is a bit too eclectic for Mainstream Top 40, they're doing well on their chief format in spite of their diminished fame since the "Hot Fuss" era, and that's got to count for something. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

the line actually goes: "Are we human? or are we dancer" yeah, so it makes even less sense than Denser But really I agree, Spaceman kills Human The reason the lyric is "dancer" is because Flowers is pondering on a quotation Hunter S. Thompson made some time ago, where he decried our nation for raising a generation of dancers. Thus, he's reflecting on it, asking "Are we human, or are we dancer?" When you say it out loud, I agree it sounds strange, but when you really absorb the intent of the lyric, it falls into place I've found. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I was obsessed with Human (being obsessed with The Killers in general) but yeah, this grew to be better than Human.

Human is an anthem. Should have been bigger. An anthem for a once-innovative alternative band's degression into overused synth lines and contrived, faux-introspective lyrics

but maybe it will grow big like mr.brightside I think this track is a little too eclectic to duplicate the success of "Mr. Brightside". "Mr. Brightside" is ultimately, easily, the most MOR-sounding track they've recorded thus far. The entire song is driven on this shimmering, rippling melody, and the second verse is almost entirely the same as the first verse both musically and lyrically. It's actually quite a generic song in most respects when you dig beneath the colorful synthesizers. There's notably more going on in "Spaceman". There's much more movement going on here. For example, while "Mr. Brightside" has no distinguished bridge, "Spaceman" has a rather unique one that's more spoken-word. There's even a drum solo in this track. Also, lyrically this is much more epic-feeling, especially toward the end in the same part of the song when Flowers mentions that the Nile used to run from east to west, as opposed to "Mr. Brightside" running on some straight-forward, mildly descriptive lyrics. Sincerely, Noah Eaton
