I would like to see more promo on this song. Radio is sleeping on it because of an independent label. Too bad too. Great song!

What the feck did he do to his hair in the video? Yikes.
This song WILL be a hit, I think it is going to take a long time to get off the ground though. I'm beginning to request it at my local station, every request helps.

I wish that this would take off or fade away to obscurity. These snail-like updates week after week is like water torture at this point.

Elliott already commented about how crappy it is to try and get his stuff played now as opposed to 2006. He's pounding the pavement and doing radio promo like crazy and nothing. The PDs are being controlled by the corporate conglomerate paying their salaries and it looks like it's not even up to them anymore as to what gets played--at least not like it was back in 2006. And if you don't have a big label pushing the song to Clear Channel, Cumulus, etc. it's going to be hard to get anything going.

He needs to find a major label that will sign him. It would have been a much easier task after WFY, but he had a 2 album deal with Hickory at the time. It's really a shame that you need to buy your way on to radio.

To be honest the song is good but not lead single material. Know Better or You Say would have definitely fared better.

This probably won't shock anyone other than resistant PDs, but FFL makes another countdown last night.
FFL was #2 in Tucson last night How long can radio ignore this, and not look like it's fixed?
You show me any song in the 50s that has this kind of reaction, that has a negative bullet or is stalling.
We need to request. We need to tell radio that we don't care what label he's under.

Reading these posts on this page tells me that Elliott has a great CD..Everyone has a favorite song or a few favs and they are all different. I like Fight For Love, Apart From Me and also This Step Alone. But next week I will probably have different favorites as I continue to listen to Elliott's CD. No trash tunes on it at all.

Come on already. How can you read this and not give it a chance? I don't care what label he's on. This song deserves a fair shot. How much better than this can you seriously ask for?

To be honest the song is good but not lead single material. Know Better or You Say would have definitely fared better. "You Say" is already top 10 in Japan. I definitely think that it should have been the U.S. single, too. I like FFL well enough but I agree that there are better contenders for lead single.

Not because there might not have been better single material, but because it sounds like a reason FFL is tanking. What the hell does radio expect? Every station that has moved it to daytime, has experienced very high requests, and great response. Show me one song getting top 5 Rate The Music and tons of requests, that hasn't made the top 50. It's clear they are blocking him because of his label. I have no idea how everyone can continue to say the song is the issue. You might be looking to place the blame elsewhere, but it's clear as day that this has absolutely nothing to do with the song. Top 5 calls in Buffalo, Lansing, Allentown, Tucson, and Syracuse Top 5 Rate The Music in Nashville COME ON, this is gift wrapped for stations. There is so much garbage on the radio that is being pushed just because of payola. iTunes sales for this continue to go up. Myspace views are increasing. Read youtube, comments are mostly all positive. Radio is blocking this, and the only reason has to be because he's on an indie label. Does anyone really have another valid excuse? FWIW: I agree. I like Know Better and Apart From Me better; but that doesn't change the fact that FFL should be a hit. Do you really think those will fare better than this? You don't get much better response than this is currently getting.

Well if radio is blocking Elliott then he might as well give up. I chose to think it's a combo of his indie status and a song that isn't strong enough to overcome that issue. So I think other songs from the album have a better chance of doing well than FFL.
If it's just radio out to get Elliott, then what's the point of putting out any more singles? I also think he should put out a song that will work on HAC and AC. That seems to be a more friendly environment these days for Idol guys. CHR has been rough for Cook, Archie and now Daughtry.
Although FFL has been a really weird song to follow. Lots of positive but no follow through. But it is what it is so the speak. Time to move on in my opinion.

Do you want #1 requests everywhere? You seriously believe that any other single will have more success? They'll use this bombing as an excuse. I don't think radio has it in for Elliott per se, but I do think the major labels are trying to block him. I think they're furious with how well WFY did. It looks like Elliott's going to need to give in and find a major label. I'm going to laugh so hard, when this shoots up the chart if a major label takes him on. Will you still think it's the song then?

Mad Mike, if it's not the song and Elliott can't make it on radio without a major, there's not much point in following his career for the next year is there? I chose to believe that it's mostly his indie status and the song because that's a little more hopeful in terms of his career.
Your argument presents a very dismal picture for Elliott's career. It's like nothing he can do will change anything so bascially he's finished until he gets signed by a major. That may be true but what's he supposed to do in the meanwhile?

This song is good enough to stand on its own. This song underperforming doesn't make it an excuse to start a "FFL is not lead single material" post. I think the label/Elliott made the right choice in sending this out to radio. It's catchy enough that it will hook listeners in but it doesn't have a high burn rate.
They already used OW bombing as an excuse for not adding this. It's pretty simple...if you are on a indie label, you better be churning out hit after hit. 1 failure and you won't get radio support.

Okay, FFL is a great song but radio won't play it. So there's nothing more to talk about since any future songs will flop as well. I think you've made your point.

I chose to believe that it's mostly his indie status and the song because that's a little more hopeful in terms of his career. Fair enough. I'm sorry, I'm just extremely angry I hope a label comes to the rescue. There is a ton of single worthy stuff, and it's clear Elliott is still very current. Look at the latest concerts and myspace views. It's clear that people still love him. I hate to blow up like this, but it isn't fair. I'm not giving up. I'm going to request. I'm going to tell everyone too. We can't just give in.

Request Request Request If it's going to go down, it needs to go down with a fight. We can't give in. I'm not, and I know others aren't. The more requests this gets, the harder it will be to ignore it.

I bought the album today, it's AMAZING. The album flows well, and Elliott sounds great on it. How he lost American Idol to Taylor Hick and Kat McPhee I'll never know.

I truly believe Elliot (even if this era is not doing great) will eventually rise to be a great staple in the music industry. He's got such a great personality and great (almighty) vocal!!! No way would he be deny of whats due to him eventually - he is a grower in every sense of the word and he would certainly outlast and outclass many of his peers in the long run.
I am putting everything in perspective (in the grand scheme of thing) with regards to Elliot's musical career :)

If this song doesn't make it there is something wrong with radio. Too much junk -not enough good songs . Elliott is the kind of artist who can put his skilz to work who has great capabilities. Wake up radio.

Still on the VH1 countdown this week, which is a surprise. A good surprise though. I say they try for a second single sometime this summer, maybe August. Although this could hang around for a while longer.
