Do you think he'll get another single? The album has sold well over 1 million copies, which is fantastic, considering both of his singles underperformed at Pop. I thought Come Back to Me was the most "pop friendly" song on the album. I could see Declaration, Heroes, Life on the Moon or Mr. Sensitive being released, but I'm not sure if any of them would really take off on Pop.

^I don't see RCA wasting their time with another single on pop, maybe he'll get another one on HAC though if his label thinks it's beneficial enough.

I agree, I don't think it would be worth it to just send something to HAC.
It will be interesting to see how his next album plays out, since it won't have the whole "latest Idol winner" effect like this did which I do think helped it a lot (though I'm sure it didn't account for all of the sales, maybe like 700k of them - I say this because that's how much Taylor sold and he had literally nothing else to help him other than being an Idol winer) Will RCA try to push him to rock? Or try to make him more "mainstream" and push his songs to CHR? Or not do anything?...guess we'll see.

This proves my point exactly. Although, superb, well structered songs. They fail to appeal to either pop or rock stations. If we're discussing the possibility of album two already, I would suggest that either goes down the pop route and becomes an proper "pop" artist or that he forms a band and records a heavy rock record ala Chris Daughtry. Cook won't do anything on rock as it is, as proven by "Bar-ba-sol" which was a quite melodic, hard hitting rock anthem, which flopped royal along with "Light On". As, for any other singles. I wouldn't of thought so

The way he's been talking in interviews it sounds like there will be at least one more single, at least that's what I get from him saying they plan to push the album to the end of the year and that they're going to see how things go from there. In the same context he's mentioned the possibility of recording the next CD early next year and that he has demos recorded already. IMO they'll do exactly what they did with CBTM, just throw it out there with no major support and see what happens.

Whatever move is made is up to the label. They know better than we do.

Seems a little pointless to re-release the album at this point, I think the era is just done, there's not really any interest left in it. They should just move on.

For a song about enduring faithfulness, CBTM is a great big CHR tease.
I am not at all surprised that there would be another single. While CBTM has basically hung out in the #45 to #54 zone for weeks, its overall airplay is solid, it's doing well on HAC, and it's selling solidly (I'm thinking that it will end up gold and stands a pretty good chance at going recurrent on the Hot 100) and the album is continuing to sell. There has been noise about he and his band (and, yes, they haven't announced a band name, but he does have a band, and it's great live) starting to record in early 2010, depending on how the album does. But given his packed tour schedule and the fact that the album is still consistently selling in the top 100, I seriously doubt that we'll see them doing more in 2009 than the kind of preparatory recording stuff that he's referenced in interviews. [Working out songs with the band, doing some demos, etc.]

I think this is a big deal this song has been fighting to be heard and it has held on for the longest time.

Oi, leave her alone. She's on your side. I agree that how this song has held on is significant enough to warrant attention, but most people by now have moved on from supporting it because it would take something drastic for it to suddenly catch on at POP now. I would have hoped that some of its strong support at Hot AC would have bled over onto POP but that hasn't seemed to have happened. Since David's doing so well on Hot AC right now, I doubt they'd just stop singles after this one. They'll probably throw another one out there in a couple of months and send it to both HAC and POP. Who knows, maybe the next single will gain better traction at POP.

Personally, I think another single would be a waste of time and effort...I don't think anything is strong enough to revive this era on pop and HAC isn't a big enough format to be worth the profits promoting another single would cost. Guess we'll see what the label does.
And for people claiming this had "no label support", come on. He performed this on freaking American Idol. That alone ends the "no label support" theory.

Overtaken by the new 3OH!3 song; but I think we may be about to see the next upward yo-yo motion spinswise. :)

That's the expanded panel though (meaning it includes unmonitored stations and isn't the official chart).

Yeah; it got pushed out of the main top 50 by the All-American Rejects and 'I Wanna'. On the expanded panel David has about a 100 spin gap between himself and the person below him (whom I believe is Livvi Franc) so he'll be top 50 in the expanded panel for a while. :)
