Heh, Good to have an add date and an unlocked thread. Not my favorite song on his album, but probably one of the more radio friendly ones. I expect it to do better than LO. Fingers crossed.

I really thought they'd go with I Did It For You since I've had a huge fear that it's going to be Idol's sendoff song since the first time I heard it. I honestly don't even remember this song. I remember Lie, Barbasol, Declaration, Permanent, Heroes, pretty much everything but this.

This song sounds so safe. It will be big on Hot AC.

This is a very forgettable song on the album BUT it's something radio will play - a generic pop/rock song with male vocals. I say a Top 20 peak for it.

Yeah, the thing is I think fans are judging this song compared to the rest of the album (in which, I admit, there are much much better songs. Alot of them). The thing is - the average radio listener will only have this song to judge on its own - at most, it'll be compared to LO. There won't be the context of the album there.
So the question is how does this song hold up on its own? I think it's much more radio friendly and CHR friendly than LO ever was. Is it safe? Yes. Is it a tad generic? Yes. I still think it'll do better on radio than, say, Declaration or Lie would've, even though they are far superior songs.
I hope Heroes is the next single after this. I think it could do great and showcase DC's sound much more accurately. But for now - I'm all about CBTM.

This is one of my favorites.
Is he going to sing it on AI soon?

They're definitely havning him on sometime later. Hopefully, theyll also let him on soon so he can sing twice. I think Carrie and Daughtry sang twice in a year, so it's very possible that will happen. :)

He'll probably come on and intro the new single and then show up for the finale. The previous winner always shows up for the finale.

The thing is - the average radio listener will only have this song to judge on its own - at most, it'll be compared to LO. There won't be the context of the album there. Yeah, ITA. I think RCA is going with this because it tested the best and they want a bigger pop hit than LO. They are taking the safe route. But yes, he has better songs on the album. And songs that are closer to his actual vibe. But like you said, people who haven't purchased the album only have Time of My Life and Light On to compare it too. This will sure be interesting to see. I like the song, so I'm ok with it. I just don't like some of the lyrics, but the song itself is pretty.

For me this song has always gone in one ear and out the other, and I won't be at all surprised if it does for a lot of other people too. Absolutely wrong single choice, but there's nothing I can do about it, so I'll just hope and pray that this can somehow manage to be a big enough hit to get him a 3rd single.

I don't think he's going to find any major success at CHR/Pop with anything, but he'll probably continue to do moderately well at Hot AC and Adult Contemporary.

I like this better than Light On. It sounds a little like what Gavin Rossdale is putting out now, and that does well on Hot AC primarily. But if he's performing this on Idol the week it goes for adds (which I believe is the rumor) he'll, at the very least, get a head start sales-wise for this song (if Brooke White can go top 10 on iTunes with a performance in the semi-finals, CBTM can do the same). And Idol performance has been known to spur airplay for some songs.
I still think they should have released this to Hot AC first since it seems like the song's primary format, but if they wanted to take advantage of Idol, I guess that explains the earlier CHR add date.

I think Avalanche would have been a good choice too. Um, can you say hell to the NO? >:( This is also a stupid choice. And I was so sure it was gonna be Decleration. Figures. I never get what I want.

Well, he's still top 5 on HAC with LO, so I don't really see how that would've worked. Makes sense to release this earlier to the format in which LO is all but dead, so it'll have a bit of a headstart and time to build a little. I don't think he's going to find any major success at CHR/Pop with anything, but he'll probably continue to do moderately well at Hot AC and Adult Contemporary. I don't know if he'll have major success on CHR with this one, but he's already doing more than moderately well on HAC and AC. He has a Top 5 hit on HAC with LO, and a huge hit on AC with TOML - it was #1 there for 16 weeks, and now on its 40th week it's still in the top 5. PS - Do the people rooting for Declaration actually think it would've done anything better than LO? I don't.

I agree with Heroes--it seems like the most CHR song of the bunch, and it's being used in sports montages all the time. Why not tie TV play with radio play so people know what the heck that song is they heard on TV? Plus, it's far more uptempo than CBTM. I don't think Cook wants to be the easy-listening rocker, but both LO and CBTM put him squarely in that box. Yes, he's releasing Bar-Ba-Sol to rock, but rock isn't mainstream--most people won't even know BBS is on the radio because there are far fewer rock stations.

Do people really think that Heroes is a better CHR song than Come Back to Me? I mean, I like Heroes better as a song, but it has never struck me as a radio song. Great live, great on the CD, great for sports montages, but it doesn't feel like a radio song.
Come Back to Me is not my favorite, but it has always seemed like more of a radio song.

This is one of the few songs on his album I really like, so I'm pleased with this. Hope it does well for him.

Well, I think "Heroes" is the only SMASH on the album. It's very anthemic- so is Declration. If i had my way, those two would've been released along with IDIFY (I louv that song, but everyone else hates it) and LOTM, I guess. Lie should never be released. Apparently, LO is still comfortably in the top 30, which means it'll be going recurrent by the end of the month. It wasn't the hit we would've hoped for, but it's really had longevity, so it's not like he's as absent from pop radio as some people make it seem. He's just not on Daughtry's level, that's all.
