This can linger in the lower half of the top 100 as long as it wants to, but it's never going to become a hit.

That's fine, it's the ridiculous longevity for a flop that does it for me. ;)

LOL, it does have some ridiculous longevity :) This song is so much better than LO, it's too bad it didn't catch on.

There's not really "longevity" in a song being played for a usual amount of time by the few stations willing to play it.

Yeah, it's probably just hanging out in the top 100 for so long because the extremely HAC-leaning stations have had it in rotation the past few months...but it wasn't added by any major markets and didn't even make top 40, so even though it's stuck around, it still can't be called a hit.

To say his career is finished is ridiculous. He's getting a 2nd album and seems to have a good sized loyal fanbase. Maybe he won't be a superstar but his career is certainly not finished. True, he will always be able to play those pre-Idol bars for more money. But, since he flopped outside of his Idol fan base and he is signed to a label and management that are grooming superstars like Adam Lambert, I really don't foresee them going too far out on a limb to support any future efforts. Promotion will be virtually non-existent and the second album will likely be the last. He can't continue without a hit and since he has failed so greatly in that department, it would be ridiculous for anyone to even attempt promoting a losing proposition.

^ LOL What are you? An Archie fan?
I doubt he was playing pre-idol for any money at all btw.
But what you said is Oh so dramatic. lol For starters, if RCA didn't want him they wouldn't give him a second album. Second, David has gained non idol fans, and if he stays with the same management they will keep promoting him, don't doubt that about Fuller, if he doesn't want to promote you he'll just drop you. The label also has reason to promote a single, his music has longevity and he has sold a good number of albums for the "non hits" he has had, and I don't mean just initial sales, he also sells a good number of concert tickets. Look at how male solo pop/rock/pop-rock artists do! They're not the bigger artists out there (other than JT) and you'll hardly find their songs at the top of the CHR charts. It's how it works. David has done fine and the guy he's liked. I think the label will support him just like they're supporting Daughtry now.
(This should go in his artist thread though)

God, why is this thread still getting posts? The song died a long time ago. Move on for Christ's sake.
