He's going to be performing it on Idol and it will be released to Itunes next week.

What I'm curious to see is whether Idol, iTunes and the video come together for the launch.
Having the song premiere on Idol in itself is great, but also the CBTM video is supposed to come out a day or two earlier. I'm very interested in seeing how (and if) the video is promoted on iTunes (when will it go up there and if there will be an ad). I doubt the song itself could get an ad on iTunes and I'm not expecting it to have it's own cover, but I would be pleasantly surprised if it does. I just hope we see promotion go into this in an attempt to make all that can be made with this single. I know LO was heavily promoted, but I'm still not sure it was wisely promoted. I think creating buzz with Idol, then spreading the video very quickly through iTunes/VH1 would be smart, then the add date is a week later and hopefully it'll start picking up.
It has potential, but I don't take anything for granted and CHR is tough right now for anything that isn't urban enough. Worst case scenario, we have HAC where I have no doubt this will do very well.

Idol ran a brief commercial during tonight's results show announcing that they would be airing a sneak-peak of the CBTM video during the show next Wednesday (the same night Cook is appearing).

Is it confirmed yet that Cook is performing next week? I didn't watch the show tonight so I missed out on the commercial. Hope it finds its way online. So fun that this is finally starting to move. It's been a long time coming. ETA: Can always trust the interwebz.

Is it confirmed yet that Cook is performing next week? I didn't watch the show tonight so I missed out on the commercial. Hope it finds its way online. "American Idol" season seven champ David Cook is returning to the show that made him a star. Cook, who battled David "Archie" Archuleta to win last season's crown, will perform a new single from his self-titled debut album, "Come Back To Me" on the Wednesday, April 1 edition of "Idol." Pop sensation Lady GaGa will also perform Wednesday night. The singer/songwriter had an amazing run to the top of the single charts with "Just Dance" and will perform "Poker Face," her second hit song from her debut album "The Flame." www.hitfix.com/articles/2009-3-27-david-cook-returns-to-idol-with-lady-gaga

Thank you for the link. :) Can't wait for next week - Both a CBTM video premiere and live performance on Idol! That's a great way to start off this single.

The premiere of CBTM on Idol would most likely be like what they did with Kelly's MLWSWY video sneak peek because the sponsor is the same (AT&T) so it'll be a commercial. Unless of course, they show it as a montage before David performs.

It definitely seemed like the same thing that Kelly did---AT&T commercial, with an excerpt during an ad, and then a URL to go see the video on an AT&T website.
I'm hopeing that the commercial will air in one half of the show, and the performance will be in the other half of the show.

So do I, and I hope the commercial airs before the performance (meaning first half of the show) because that would be a good teaser and allow viewers to get a feel for the song before they hear it fully for the first time. And I don't know what might make a label "invest" in a single cover for iTunes, but I hope they do that too.

Lady GaGa would be surprised to learn that her album is called "The Flame."

Oh, and I just heard CBTM for the first time on the radio, and it really does sound good. It's never been one of my big favorites on the album, but yeah, it sounded like a good radio song.

And tinawina makes me laugh again. I heard it on the radio too! It sounded great. I was a little surprised by that actually. I liked it before, but it sounded better somehow.

It seemed to some of us who heard it that they slightly sped up the tempo on the song on the radio. Not a huge amount, but just enough that it actually did seem to make a difference.

This is the best song on the album (other than ADAM and Permanent) so I hope it does well.

Some stations speed up their songs slightly, so everything sounds a bit faster than the original. They do it to squeeze in more songs. I generally hate it when they do that, but it does have the effect of improving some songs (but also hurting others, imo).

The album version clocks in at just over 4 minutes, so I'm not surprised that there was some kind of radio edit or speeding up of the tempo. And I think that this is one of the songs that actually benefits from a slightly faster tempo.

I think this will do the worst on the CHR chart of his singles so far. It just doesn't fit in with what's playing now on Top 40 radio. It's seems much more suited for AC.

I honestly agree with street's comment - CBTM could be the the start of the stinker for DC in CHR territory. It would not survive - unless with that level of promotion as with LO. It a nice song but not great enough

Hmm... I wonder if the "doesn't fit" argument has anything to do with the discussion currently happening elsewhere? And penpal99 -- we get it. You're a Cook-troll. NEXT.

What discussion elsewhere? If you mean Archie's single, that had a similiar problem. CHR is getting very urban and I think that's one reason that flopped.
So my opinion on both songs is they're ok but not what CHR is looking for. Some artists are HAC or AC artists and what's the problem with that. I'd put Cook there.
